I received my Libretto in Violet leather yesterday. It is simply stunning!
I have a question, has anybody treated the leather with a protectant product? I am considering doing this since I want to protect the leather. What do you guys think?

I have the black leather and love it. did a search and from what I found I bought " Leather Honey Leather Conditioner" from Amazon, had great reviews and makes the leather softer and protects it....well worth it in my opinion.

Got the red one in today. Looks great with the white iPad.

Not the best pics, but gives you all an idea....

Just got my Shitake one and it looks like on the photos, so I am very happy.

Had the Sena Florence for a month and was very happy with it, but this is a class of it's own.

It is thicker than I thought, although it has a layer of leather less it is more padded than the Sena and it feels better holding it. The top flap is really sturdy and the magnets hold it quite well and trigger the sleep mode reliably.

I love how it shows more of the iPad and the access to the buttons is much more natural.

Here is the Vaja care recommendations from their website:

"Once a week polish the leather with a dry and clean cloth or soft & mild brush. With this minimal care your leather product will provide long-lasting use. We recommend using a neutral cream (e.g. Meltonian) sparingly applied with a soft clean cloth and then brushing the polish immediately after."

You can find Meltonian at most shoe repair stores or at Amazon.

Help!

Just received my Vaja Libretto and it is a big let down. My iPad 2 will not fit into the case! I have tried and tried, but am still unable to get it in. I have never felt so stupid. I have tried to contact Vaja and no luck as of now I am working with American Express. I have had other Vaja Cases for my iPhone 3GS and was very happy. I welcome any input.

I don't understand. If it doesn't fit in 'effortlessly' than they sent you the wrong case (probably for the iPad 1), or it's defective

Are you sure you didn't order one for the iPad 1 by mistake?

Whatever you do, don't 'try' to make it fit in.

Take measurements from the inside of the 'lip' across. (Mine is 7 2/8" across (exactly) from the inside to inside (of the lip edge)

I welcome any input.

Input? This isn't rocket science. Since you claim to have an iPad2, an iPad1 case would be too big, not too small and the cut outs for an iPad2 would be different. Do the cut outs match an iPad2?

If you want input then you need to be more specific about your issue. The fit on mine was very tight when I first got it and I had to press very hard to get the ipad down into the correct position. It's getting a little better but it still feels a little too tight.

Now that I have had my Libretto for a while it's time to mention what I like and don't since I have some experience with.

First off and most important the metal Vaja thingy (in Kukulcans post above) on the flap in the back where the front flap slides into is starting to fray the leather on mine. The backside of the metal has an edge to it which wears the leather prematurely. I think I resolved it by putting a piece of black electrical tape on it to fit perfectly so it can't be seen. It smooths out the edge of that metal. Really this is a simple thing Vaja should be aware of or designed for, but I won't bother mentioning it to them since they suck ass at communicating with customers.

Second, overall fit could be better. Depending on how you hold it sometimes the cover can ease it's way off the ipad2 near the exposed corner. I just never felt like it fit in nice and snug the way I would have liked and have seen other cases fit. Ho-hum I guess, not a deal breaker.

Overall very happy with the case and form and function is excellent. I still think Vaja sucks as a company and would probably not order from them again based on my first experience and their complete and total LACK of communicating with their customers. I am not surprised that Argentina as a country is basically a third world economy based on this companies attitude towards business. Too bad cause they make a good product.

It’s a beautiful well-made case, but I returned my Vaja Libretto to Cases.com – here’s why:

- It added an unnecessary amount of bulk to the iPad (compared to other folio cases out there).
- The iPad sits too low in the case causing an uncomfortable lip around the edges while holding it.
- When the cover is folded back, it turns the iPad off a little too often.
- The metal notch on the back was just a bad idea – multiple reasons described in this thread.
- The felt lining was a lint and tiny debris magnet causing constant transfer to the display.
- On the one I had, the felt lining was not applied evenly around the edges, exceeding the leather trim.

I'm doing the same. I agree with the issues:
1) Too bulky
2) Lip is uncomfortable while holding the iPad
3) The Red case seems dull in color

Its almost as bulky as the $100 Premium leather maroo case, but the latter is more comfortable to use.

Afraid I have to agree with the previous two posts. After using the Libretto for awhile I've concluded it's not for me. The cover never stretched out so that it covers the whole Ipad when closed (others said it did for them). It turns off periodically when the cover is folded back. The liner is the worst dust and lint magnet I've seen compared to a number of other cases I've tried.

I ended up using a PDAir leather case, as well as an STM Skinny. Both are considerably cheaper than the Vaja, but more important to me is that both work better for me.

Is the Vaja Libretto a nice case? Yes. Is it worth the price? For me, no.

Sorry, I love mine....I use it on special outings.. I also have a grove case, switcheasy and a couple of others.. Love my vaga case best of all....

So I got my new one (black) and it now sits perfectly tight.

Now I cant see how I could love any case more. I could find some minor complaints, but they just vanish compared how absolutely great it looks, feels (and "works").

I think the extra bulk is just perfect and it never switches off when putting the top cover back. The magnet switches it off reliably when it should and holds the top securely enough. There might be a millimeter of the screen on the right not being covered, it bothers me not even a little. And I generally love how it exposes quite a lot of the iPad.

And the lining is less of a dust magnet than that of the Sena I had. Transferring dust to the screen - not an issue at all. I am picky, but this comes so close to perfection I am really happy I paid the price. I cant say if it gives me more pleasure using the iPad or just holding it.

I had the Libretto and returned it in favor of the Piel Frama Cinema Case. The PF case feels much better to me and it protects the device better. You can't argue with the leather quality on either one, but after a week's worth of use, I'm thrilled with the Piel Frama case and think that the leather is even softer and nicer than the Vaja. Cost is negligible, I think the PF is $20 less expensive.

Yeah the Pielframa cases sure look nice. The leather is completely different than the Vaja.

The "Cinema" looks nice, but it is like the Sena Florence I had with the front being covered on the sides. The main problem with the Sena was the leather didnt fit like a glove and there was always dust under the edges. Going under it with a cloth made them stand off even more, so I had to take the iPad out often to clean it - I never take off my Vaja.

The iMagnum is like the Vaja, just without fron protection and I hate to put a "cheap" smart cover on top of such a nice case.

I agree, which is the reason why I have Pielframa iMagnum case for my iPhone 4 and a Vaja Ivolution Top SP in its way for my iPad 2 :)

The Pielframa cases for the iPads are great but they cover the bezel forcing you to clean under this making the leather bulge out even more......

Had to return

Love the look of it so I ordered a black and red from cases.com. Arrived a few days later, and pics don't do it justice. It is amazing to look at and feels great.

BUT

I'm sending it back.

The trouble is that the exposed corner is sensitive to the magnet that controls the smart on/off. If you often fold the cover back and hold on to it upright, like for reading in bed, youmwill have a major issue with this. I can justify spending 200+ on a case, but not one that has such a major defect.

Back to the drawing board. Leaning towards the Beyza right now, but we'll see.

You make a good point, but it's very easy to take the iPad out of the case once a week and clean the bezel. The Piel Frama leather is so soft and feels so nice, it's worth that simple trade off, IMO.
