This is indeed exciting news... I LOVED Portal and Left 4 Dead when I played them on my friend's PC. I hope the system req's aren't too severe so I can get my own versions of these as well without having to tinker with BootCamp at all now that Valve is doing such an awesome thing like this :D

Excellent news. This ALSO means that one of the last reasons for people to keep (unwillingly) their inferior PCs is practically vaporized now.

MS IS DEAD. AND SO IS DELL.

Good news Valve...obviously they see an untapped market there and want to take advantage of it. I'm also guessing they were able to port the Source engine over easy enough that it made sense.

I'm assuming based on the reception of this...that will dictate how gaming is viewed on Mac's moving forward.

Playstation 3 fans let out a cry of anger. ha

I will finally be able to play a video game on my Mac.

This is so cool, albeit it may not be Call of Duty, but Counter Strike and the like are also gonna be awesome.

I just wonder how much it'll be priced.

?

Yea, it's just like Blizzards battle.net game management. If you buy the game on either Mac or PC, you can later redownload it - for free, on a Mac or PC.

TF2 is only $20, I'm guessing they'll run some deals when the time comes for Steam to release on Mac. During every major class update they have for TF2 (only the Engineer update remains) they have a weekend of free TF2 where anyone can download and play it for free all weekend and usually cap it off with TF2 be available for like ~$3.

Not really, no.

It just means that we can now use Steam on both platforms. Which is certainly a plus.

I like my "Inferior" hardware just fine thank you very much.

The "Steam Play" feature allowing purchasers of either the Mac or PC versions of Valve's games to play on the other system free of charge is a good step, and reinforces the whole idea of Steam - purchase once, download and play on any computer with Steam.

I did not expect this before I saw the teaser images. Anyway, this is GREAT news. I love Valve's games and this is one less reason to use Windows.

This is huuuuuge win, especially the platform-agnostic purchase system. The fact that I'll be able to play all my Source games on my Mac without having to repurchase them is amazingly cool.

Way to go, Valve.

Woot! Now all I need is a new MacBook Pro to be released in April to play all my Steam games on ;)

Please please please Apple: release new notebooks and/or desktops with higher-end graphics card options and I'll NEVER boot into Windows again.

WOW dear lord I would never have expected them to release all this SO SOON! Wow... I'm so damn happy... And cross-platform gaming is free of charge... Damn... Valve we love you!
