People use Computer gaming because it is meant to be the optimization of graphics people who play these games dictate how they want certain hardware. They want high end video cards. PC gaming is dictated by the choices of hardwa PC gamers want. If people wanted a one size fit all option they can't upgrade then they would get consoles.
The numbers are indeed ASCII. Remember, the image needs to be inverted and, therefore, so should the bits representing each number (clever!).
This is what I've been able to decode:

"...[go]ing to need a lot more test subjects..."

Someone already found out that if you the number from 255 individually then it gives you valid ASCII code
People are talking about programming for consoles low-level, meaning bypassing Direct X (in the case of the Xbox 360) and designing specifically for the CPU, creating a big leap in performance.
Looks like registration is closed on the wiki. **** it, we'll do it live!

Portal 2 is going to be AWESOME.
I don't see why there would be another teaser campaign for Portal 2. Hopefully it's Half Life 3, but that doesn't look like anything Half Lifey.
I cannot wait for Portal 2. I discovered Portal on my 360 a few months ago and couldn't believe what I had been missing. I still haven't beaten all of the levels.
It's definitely one of the GladOS modules.
