Well, I always wanted to play HL2. I'm sure it will run just fine on my MacBook with its powerhouse GM950 64MB integrated GPU.

*weeps bitter tears*

It could probably run it. HL2 was released in 2004 and even back then I was playing it on my ancient laptop on medium settings (forgot the graphics card, but it was low-end).

The teaser pictures are just awesome. Let's hope Valve Time doesn't kick in too hard.

I played the original HL2 on a ThinkPad T43 with a 1.8ghz Centrino, 1gb of ram, and a GMA 900. You should be fine.

I wonder if our current windows steam accounts will work (if this is gonna exist) and would we have to re purchase mac versions if we already own licenses for PC versions??? the questions the questions

Dots

I would guess the presence of the dots means iPhone OS and the scale of the dots to the screen indicate the iPad !!!!

So Badass!

Will we have to rebuy our game for Mac? I want to think Valve would do the right thing and not make us do that, and in doing so kick the **** out of every other gaming company on the planet....

Will this mean all you Mac lovers are finally going to be able to play all those good PC games like Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2? I think not, just the usual 6 year old content you guys always get. Loving my DirectX, are you?

I sure hope crossover games can be integrated.
Counter Strike Source im sure will work if HL2 will work. (same for l4d, Garys Mod, Portal)

but other games they might not port that currently work in CXG should be able to be integrated.

Actually, HL2 is quite old now so the GMA950 should be fine :)

I think that they should support it steam logins. With the content delivery system that Steam has I think it would be a good idea for them to allow Windows accounts to play on Macs. My fingers are crossed!!!! I haven't played any of my Steam games in about 2 years and this could get me to change my mind.

We just got what is presumably the final image at Macworld. Mail caught Valve's message in spam so I didn't see it for an hour or two.

Isn't this game like….. really old?

Valve games are the Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin and The Doors of gaming. It doesn't matter how old they are, they still rock, and they are the best there ever was and will me.

'nuff said.

Eh, did you miss the L4D picture? That was released in 2008, and if they're porting L4D2 that came out in October (or was it November).

Your mom loves 6 year old content- keeps her entertained when I'm tired.
:D

Is the portal turret "I'm a PC" high res anywhere?
I'd love that image for a wallpaper.

Why would you want Crossover Games to be integrated? Just to play non Steam Engine games?

I find this to be a less likely solution, but would still be cool. :)

That's one of the nice things about all these games running off the same engine... They basically can port a major game library over with "little" effort. Not really, little, but much less than if they were all independent. :)

Really...? Well, that would be really frickin' awesome. Maybe I should just pick up a copy of XP and hit it up on Bootcamp, which seems to be faster than OS X in most gaming instances.

Proper focus on Mac Gaming?

I wonder if after a long hiatus, the post count in the gaming section will be re-enabled for us regulars now there's a little more emphasis and gaming is making page 1 macrumors news ;)

I don't know if that's going to be worth while...

I used to play HL2 when I first got it on my GeForce TI 4200. :) It'll likely play on most Intel Macs.

Another thing is that I would expect more Mac apps that allow control over videocard clockspeed to be coming out after this. :) There is no real reason why games should run faster in Windows other than maybe Apple has the graphics card underclocked for battery saving reasons. If this is the case maybe we'll see some tools to... remedy... the situation. :D

I'm pretty excited for this! Fingers crossed that my Windows account works!!!
