Confirmed.... Beta 13.1 no better. As well, I purchased a ThunderBolt 4 cable off amazon, and wait for it.... shockingly, no improvement... still a distorted mess!

M2 MBA user here. I upgraded to Ventura last night. This morning, Samsung external display not working. Had worked perfectly for months until now. USB-C Cable is providing power but no video. Display knows there is something connected and is asking me to 'turn on the device connected to USB-C'. Said device is, obviously, already on.

I've rebooted MBA and monitor, then restarted MBA in Safe Mode. Hasn't worked.

Displays options - shows monitor as Airplay option but not as external monitor via USB-C. Holding Option key reveals 'detect displays' button, but clicking said button does nothing.

Any suggestions?

Same issue. Both my MacBook Pro and Mac mini will not detect a USB C to C monitor and USB C to HDMI is unstable and has graphical glitches. Been like this since RC 1 and I'm now on 13.1 Beta 1 and still no fix.

Happy to get it "working" again. Hopefully Apple will come up with a proper fix sooner than later

You've got it working? - could you describe how you fixed it please?
Essentially, prior to plugging in your monitor run the following command and enter your password

sudo sleep 20 ; sudo kill -9 $(pgrep WindowServer)

Once you press enter your password, plug your monitor in, in 20 seconds you will see things flash.

You can then set your resolutions. The only thing I noticed is that my keyboard and mouse that are plugged into the monitor do not work. AND if you reboot, you will have to re run the command.

Ah OK, I tried that and it hasn't worked. My problem is that the MacBook is not detecting the monitor at all. It is taking power, but does not recognise that the monitor is connected.

Thanks for replying though.

Sometimes my monitor has had the same behavior as yours. Try resetting it or removing power for a few seconds and try again.

I have seen that this method sometimes disables the usb keyboard and mouse for unknown reasons, do you have a bluetooth keyboard to test if it works for you?

Hi osx_user!

I'll be honest, I read your comment and thought "yeah sure pal. It's definitely not the monitor. Sheesh, who on earth thinks it's gonna be fixed by just re-starting the display, when it's clearly a problem with Ventura?"

An hour later, just to be sure I was right, I crawled under my desk and unplugged the monitor for 10 secs.

Switched it on again.

Now everything works (embarrassed facepalm emoji)

You are a genius and I thank you for your unimpeachable advice on this matter! :)

all of the sudden it started working, so who knows... my Razer application doesn't recognize them as Razer devices, but whatever....

Any luck with the 13.0.1 that came out yesterday ?
That is the one I was referring to ... 13.1 (22C5044e) .. still broken...

If I had a MacBook Pro that was still under warranty I would be calling them on a daily basis... but I guess this is their way to force people to upgrade their Macbook Pros even though they would perfectly fine for the persons usage.

Where is exactly problem?
I have MB Pro 14", macOS 13.0.1. At work I have TB3 dock with 2 DP ports and it works just fine. At home I have TB3 to 2 DP dongle and it works just fine. Also I have USB-C to HDMI cheap dongle and it also works.
So where is problem? What exactly don't work?

What resolution are you using? Are you using 5K monitors?

When I try using a USB-C to USB-C my monitor doesn't work, when i use USB-C to HDMI, it will work, but only at 4k. There seems to be an issue any users have 5K monitors.

Beta 3 still nothing. I have sent a message to Developer Technical Support since it's not being listed as a issue in release notes and my feedback goes unanswered.
Ya, I updated mine yesterday as well.
I have tried messaging them back in Beta 7 or 8 when the issue first happened. Hopefully they will respond to yours!

Eh, yeah, I use 4K monitor. Sorry.
