thats what i am prepared for lol

and i was being quite liberal with the 10 AM time.. I clicked and filled out the damn page nonstop the whole day and got my order in at around 6:30 pm, barely in time before the preorders were sold out.

I'd do it again (and will soon hopefully). its annoying but it kind of adds a certain excitment to it i must say..

Prepaid phone

I have a Verizon prepaid phone.

Would I qualify as a "Verizon Customer"?

Edit - Just checked. the answer is "No".

WHAT IS THE POINT OF A 3AM START TIME!! SOME OF US WORK, AND AREN'T JUST HANGING AROUND WITH COLLEGE BUDDIES PLAYING VIDEO GAMES.

This is just stupid. It'd be easier to be west coast. Then you just have to stay up to midnight.

The point is, it's 12am on the west coast, which means everyone in the US orders at the same time on the approved day.

Yeah but your East Coast Sports teams get all the love on ESPN.

I have nothing to do on the 3rd, no class, no work.

I'll be up ordering for sure @ 1am local time.

Luckily I'd be up anyways. I work 12hr night shifts (3-4 days a week alternating) so if it was a long week for me I'd be up Wed night working w/ access to the net, and if it's a short week (which it is) I'm up anyways til 2am'ish on my days off.

Can't wait.

I was ordering my gf ip4 during the summer when it came out but we made the mistake of not ordering it at night, instead starting to order at 9-10am and didn't finally get it done until 630pm. Won't make that mistake again considering everyone who ordered at night had no issue.

Is there something magic about it being on that day? Why not at 12noon?or 10am?

It's still LAME!

Hey, we don't only play video games. We still have a life outside video games. =P

As someone in the UK..I am amazed at the amount of news coverage this gets….a phone has moved to a new carrier, er…is this news? Its probably got more column inches than the mass protests in Egypt..a sense of perspective required people?

-Covenant.

This is a site for rumors regarding Apple products. Would it be more appropriate to be speculating on the loss of sales caused by turmoil in the world?

I've seen relatively little notice of the verizon iPhone in the mainstream media.

Jeez 3am? Why can't they just do 12AM Eastern standard time.....well I guess that would give Californians a distinct advantage but still. Well hard working adults double up on coffee and Highschool students with "ADD" double up on your amphetamines!

Cause 3am is 12 midnight in Cupertino, thats why!!!

Well, first off, this is an English website with a large American demographic. There is plenty of case for good coverage of a UK carrier change, but other changes around the world are less relevant to the audience.

Second, this is an Apple rumors website. What is taking place in Egypt is indeed an item of interest to the tech community, but it is far less relevant to this site's coverage than the Verizon iPhone release.

Third, the Verizon release is of great importance to the company and stockholders, and it is also of particular interest to many readers as this will be the thing that places the iPhone head-to-head with Android on the other top United States carrier. Many people are very interested in that for a variety of reasons, whether worthwhile or not.

This is exactly the sort of thing which deserves regular coverage.

I don't care because I'm not buying one, but I understand the decision to emphasize this event.

I don't know the answer to this question, but a theory occurs to me: If they publish it at 3 AM it will result in less traffic on their servers than would have been the case if they published during peak hours, thus it is less likely that their servers will go down, creating an embarrassing footnote to their assurances that they are completely ready for iPhone demand.

It is worth pointing out that this has nothing to do with a network's ability to support the iPhone and its bandwidth, but that didn't stop people from pointing and laughing at AT&T for the same problem.

excellent post

I don't think we will see the same rush as the original launch, since the phone has been out a while. Also, you can use Apple's site as well, so the traffic will be split. I had my iPad ordered in 5 minutes with no trouble whatsoever.

helium prongs, cooling prongs, somebody's out there knocking on my hoolio prongs. :)

Pre-Order Delivery

I got the e-mail invitation, but when I click on the link, it says "webpage not found". Oops.

And they still haven't said whether the phone will ship right away or if we still have to wait for it to ship until 2/10. If the latter, then it's not such a good deal for "loyal customers" since we'll have to wait an extra day anyway to actually GET the phone. Might as well just stand in line at the store since the website is probably going to crash anyway!

They're going to offer free two-day shipping and 1 day for a fee.
