I am hoping the iphone comes to verizon tomorrow, really hoping they shock us and say it is LTE capable :)

iPhone on Verizon AND LTE too? Now your dreaming. :)

Would be cool though. I think it would create shockwaves. At least until people realize it only works in 38 cities right now...

Yeah, but that's a pretty big percentage of the population. And falling back on EVDO aint so bad.

Consumer Reports has ATT dead last.

It would be nice if it were true about a Verizon iphone tomorrow.

I think that when Apple moves beyond ATT they will go to more than just one extra carrier. When the day comes, Steve will put Verizon up on the board and then do his "one more thing" and reveal more carriers.

This sale is about moving the remaining iphone 3G's out the door. In a couple of months only the iphone 4 will be available.

Yeah... but it was a Blackberry!

(Really—who wants to do battle with their previous OS in terms of data collection and navigation while on the phone? It's not a pleasant activity. It's a bit different on an iPhone. Although, still, it won't be everyone's bag of tea.)

That has nothing to do with it. I was comfortable with the OS at the time, and could have very easily navigated web pages while on a call if it was available. The point that I'm trying to make is that I only ever actually wanted to do that once.

Everyone has their opinion about these providers, but they're both jerks, and the decision really comes down to location.
That is very true.

And I use the feature all the time (I'm not exaggerating). Everyone's usage of features is different.

What's the LTE chip going to do to battery life though? If it's anything like the first 3G chips it wouldn't be good at all.

My issues with AT&T have never been about slow coverage. They have always been about NO coverage.

Cities around here have billboards stating "XXXXXX is AT&T country" and I look down at my iPhone and see 1-2 bars of EDGE. I look down at my Verizon phone and it has 5 bars of EVDO.

i kind of think that the verizon iPhone will bring them subscribers from AT&T, but I don't know how many users will buy the iPhone who are currently on Verizon.

I have been waiting since the first iphone to come to Verizon (I am on Verizon) - I will def buy one. My roomate has iphone on att and hates it always dropping calls if it even rings!

I, too, have been waiting for this to happen. I refused to switch to AT&T for it. And I have been waiting ever since day one, when the iPhone was first announced. I can also think of at least 7 or 8 friends and family members off the top of my head that have been waiting as well.

Indeed I think there will be a large migration, but I'm sure that there are hundreds of thousands, probably millions of folks (like myself) who have been waiting for the day Apple teams up with Verizon.

That's a good point. Though all of the anticipation by drawing it out like they have for Verizon has definitely played to both companies benefits. I'm sure it would do the same if they waited a while to transition over to Sprint and/or T-Mobile as well. But ya never know.

Me too, almost four years! It's been worth the wait though! All of my buddies have iPhones on AT&T and watching how frustrated they have been with AT&T's service has helped me remain patient for a VZW iPhone.

Let's think about it... Possible Verizon iPhone Announcement on 1/11/11!
Broken down... 1+1+1+1+1=5 Does it mean iPhone 5?

I agree. Absolutely worth waiting for.

Yeah it's crazy how many of my friends absolutly hate ATT but like the iphone if only it actually worked as a phone too!!! Verizon does have the best service around Connecticut compared to all the lost calls with friends on ATT. I have never lost a call with Verizon to Verizon friends!! EVER!!! Can't wait!!!

It isn't hard to understand if you travel the nation a bit. In some areas AT&T is stellar, and in others they are a nightmare. So if we base our opinions of a network based on an individual interpretation from a specific area we wind up with everything from rave review to absolute disgust.

I think it's a location thing. Some are good, some are bad. You go with what works.

Actually, until recently, I was making quarterly trips, by car, between Seattle and Detroit, and never along the entire route did I have any major issues, except to the middle of nowhere. And even then it only a data issue, not a voice issue. Whenever I needed to make a call, it always went through. Whenever I dropped a call, it was usually when switching from at&t to Altell's GSM network (entering ROAMing) or back again, with makes perfect sense.

I notice that AT&T is already trying to slam Verizon's network as being too slow for a good iPhone experience so that pretty much confirms it. AT&T is afraid and they should be. Verizon has a very strong Droid line-up and adding the iPhone to the mix gives them a great phone selection on the nation's largest network. I am confident that Verizon will handle the additional load without people dropping calls left and right. I have always suspected that AT&T blamed the iPhone for their reliability problems when it was actually their poor network design. I guess time will tell, but if you look at the phone line-up and the rate at which Verizon will be launching their 4G network I see why AT&T is afraid.

Now if Verizon goes out and buys Sprint everyone else would be finished. They won't, but if they did...
