Verizon seems to be getting hit hard, as the app won't load now. Several times it said I wasn't connected to the internet when I was, and just now it gave me an error and said try back later.

Ikr..
I've been trying to get in touch with them via call and nothing.

No, again, you're not. You are deprioritized which mean your speed MAY slow on a congested tower. If it is not congested, you won't be slowed.

That's what I just said....

Basically if you go over 22GB you move to the back of the line buddy. Like I am now, on lte but only getting .5mbs max :(

I'm locked in to my grandfathered pricing for many years. Main line for 110 plus 30 for true unlimited data.
2nd line for 10 dollars plus 30 for true unlimited data. No tethering unless I pay extra. What will I lose or gain if I switch to the new type of unlimited data which just came out today?
Thank u in advance.

You might want to check your last bill, as I'm betting that $30 you think you're paying for unlimited data right now is probably $49.95 now. That happened to me awhile ago, as I have the grandfathered plan.

And all Verizon needs to do is re-define what is "congested." It's the same kind of crap airlines pull in defining "international" and other terms to make it sound like the consumer is winning, when in reality we are losing.

You basically said once you go over 22GB, you're slowed. And thats not true. You won't always be slowed. And if you are, once you connect to a different tower, you may not be slowed anymore.

Were you on contract or no? Will they let people out of contracts that are on the old UDP?
I was month to month as the old Unlimited Plan, known as Nationwide Unlimited, has been unavailable for years. I bought phones outright, no supplemented deals for a new contract, in order to keep the plan intact.

I have 5 lines with the 24GB /mo plan. I just switched to the Unlimited plan. My bill is projected to be identical to what it was before. Also now that I'm on auto-pay, I'm getting -$10/mo.

Always wanted to go back to the unlimited plans. My average monthly usage is .6gb/mo so ... I really have nothing to gain/complain about but the other heavy users on my family plan are going to be really happy so that makes me happy.

I'll be honest, I was pretty close to switching to another carrier over this unlimited data EVERYONE else was offering. Not now.

With a 15% employee discount - $93.50 for the plan and $20/line (since all of us are not on a contract). Estimated monthly cost (with discounts):$193.50

T-Mobile does the exact same thing. And it lasts maybe 10 minutes and I work in a city. It means as it sounds. If the tower has a lot of users currently hitting off of it, if you went over 22GB, you get slowed.

Only discount that applies to this plan is the 15% military and retired/vets discount

Hmmm.. when I price out the new plan on VZN website, it does not allow my husband's military discount. Are you reading that this is still available?

Well, not 'EXACTLY" the same thing. Att says 226b and T mobile says 28GB. Your sentiments are correct though.

Based on network statistics for the most recent quarter, customers who use more than 28GB of data during a billing cycle will have their data usage prioritized below other customers’ data usage for the remainder of the billing cycle in times and at locations where there are competing customer demands for network resources.

what phone? you need to get the latest cells with band 12 working to take advantage of T-Mobile new 700mhz spectrum.

I'm on Verizon now and my co workers switched to T-Mobile and hit 115 MPs speeds where my Verizon can't break 30

T-Mobile closed the spectrum deal in November. Band 12 is currently in the process of being deployed in the Chicago area, and acorrding to CTO Nevelle Ray, they hope to have the deployment completed by the end of Q2.

And who is going to be supervising this exactly. The end user will never know why he/she is being slowed down. Should we just take Verizon word for because you said so?

I don't believe they allow the discount any more, neither does T mobile. I lost my veterans discount with the t mobile one. On the up side one is cheaper than the old one was with discount.

Unbelievable. If the slow down happens after 22gb then you know why it happened, if it happens before that you know something is wrong and call customer service.

There, now wasn't that simple?

I don't even have verizon and can figure that out pretty easily.

Really? I still have my 15% discount according to the website after upgrading today on the VZW Website.

Estimated bill calc still includes the discount too.

Notice I said I don 't believe, I didn't state it as fact. I stand corrected, good them.

T mobile is still cheaper for me without the discount than verizon with it so ymmv.

I guess my next bill will be the tell all for sure. We'll find out :)

The point I'm making is to ask what exactly is "congested?" What I am saying is that the wording is shifty and is subject to easy re-definiing at Verizon's whim. They could say 75% of capacity is "congested," and with this plan re-define "congested" as being 30% capacity.

I can not offer proof this is happening, or even will happen. All I am saying is that there is a catch to EVERYTHING. Verizon is in the business of making money, and when you see something like this, from ANY company, you should be asking yourself, "what's the catch?"

Good luck to you pard. I believe I can get 25% through the job I am retired through, more than my veterans discount, and if they ever change from 500mb to unlimited roaming to mexico I would be interrested. I'm sure they would be using the same lines here (mostly telcel).

I am sorry but 10G for LTE 4G is NOT unlimited.... UNLIMITED would be UNLIMITED 4G LTE and not a downgrade to 3G... .... and for the record for whatever Verizon rolls out... AT&T is sure to follow with something similar if not better soon enough...
Well, as you said, "UNLIMITED 4G LTE" would be what you said, just plain UNLIMITED isn't that given that particular speeds/connection isn't specified in that, aside from the particular terms (like 10 GB for LTE 4G tethering).

What are people losing if this gives an option that might work out better one way or another for many?

As opposed to hypotheticals posted on online forums by random anonymous users?

It seems that only military/veteran and perhaps certain other government discounts apply, but that's about it.

Just spoke to a rep and he said as of right now they aren't accepting employer discounts but the final decision will be made sometime in March regarding the discounts so maybe there's hope.

This plan will work for many people, there is no denying that. I am saying there is a minority of people for which this plan might not be a better option and how there is a bit of gray area in Verizon's definition of "congested."

It would be nice if they started accepting those. On the other hand (just thinking of different possibilities) it could mean that this is an initial/introductory offer for the unlimited plan and once the initial offer and pricing goes away and the "regular" pricing kicks in they might then allow corporate discounts on that.

That's kinda crappy. I notice they're giving $10/mo off for auto pay but that sure isn't 15% off bill total.

It is unlimited.
Indeed. Everyone is trying to find the gotchya in this. There isn't one.
Verizon has quite a large pipe, so I'd think they have even less of a need to slow heavy users.

It's as unlimited as 2017 can offer. I'm in.

What about this from July of last year?

Verizon to disconnect unlimited data customers who use over 100GB/month

https://arstechnica.com/information...mited-data-customers-who-use-over-100gbmonth/

With the advent of 4k video, high bit-rate music and ever-increasing bandwidth needs it's not outside the realm of possibility to exceed 100gb/month. I can't see Verizon not having some sneaky tactic up its sleeve to obfuscate this too good to be true deal in the long run
