Verizon iPhone 5, LTE Startup lag??

I'm on with Verizon now, logging a ticket. He said no tickets are in for this issue yet, so go ahead and call and let them know you're also having the issue, it seems to be regional and others on Verizon in the area are also logging tickets.

No LTE issues here in the Boston, MA region while I had my iPhone 5 (another one ordered on the way).

Siri worked immediately, etc.

Agree about the Galaxy S3 screen

I took my phone back to apple and they gave me a new phone but unfortunately the new one is doing the same thing.

You can adjust brightness in the browser in the settings, it's distinctly set versus the overall phone (don't ask me why).

I just sold my GS3 in favor of the iP5 - if you're really considering a switch and want details of my comparison between the two and why I prefer the iP5, PM me and I'll be happy to share.

Verizon LTE on iPhone 5 works instantly upon phone wake up here at Seattle WA.
Thanks for all of the feedback everyone. Glad to know its not something something wrong with the phone and hopefully an easy fix on Verizon's part.

I'm in Florida by the way and glad to see this thread is still going. Hopefully they address this immediately...

im in ft lauderdale, fl and also having this issue. Usually on the first page i visit after it wakes up. Also, if i use speedtest.net app after i unlock the phone, it stays on "finding closest server" for a good 10-12 seconds before working.

Just got off the phone with Verizon and opened a ticket, not sure what that means, but we should all call the,, the more the better.

Also what about Verizon's twitter account? They used to be really good with their service on there. Let's get the news out...

Verizon's twitter account is:

@VZWSupport

It looks like they are off until 7am tomorrow though.

Logging a ticket with Verizon right now. He says he sees a few others as well as a couple mentions in their internal forum.

I registered just to reply to this.
I'm located in Eastern CT and having the same issues with LTE.

The phone seems to lag behind establishing a data connection and do a poor job of locking onto the best cell tower.
I watched my LTE connection drop while I was eating out.
The data connection seems to go to sleep immediately. Re-establishing takes forever(seconds vs. milliseconds).

I'm also having the same issue with 3g service.

I've noticed at my house on the front steps that I will get with 3 bars of service and 3g or 2 bars and "o" (1x).
Performing all the resets and reboots does nothing.

As someone mentioned on the Verizon forums, this is not the same issue that's being discussed here.

Earlier on page 1, I posted saying that I had this same problem initially (Verizon phone) and then after a reboot of the phone everything was fine. After a couple of days, it's still fine for me and everything loads instantly over LTE.

I just figured I would add that I'm in Oregon, so I did see the problem initially in an area outside of the southeastern US. I agree at this point that it sounds like it's a regional issue based on the locations of people having trouble, but it's still strange that I saw this issue briefly at first. Based on what everyone's describing it is exactly the same thing I was seeing.

I'm in Birmingham,AL and I'm experiencing the same problems. I have appt with Genius Bar tomorrow at the apple store because I was thinking my phone was defective. Should I still call verizon?

Hopefully you will have better luck than I did today when the genius bar changed my phone. It actually seems to be worse on this phone than my previous one.

I wouldn't bother going to Apple. It seems to be a network issue, not an issue with the iPhone 5. If they switch it out, I'm sure the issue will persist. Call Verizon, or go to a store, or tweet their support account (@VZWSupport) so that they are aware of the issue. I don't think Apple can do anything.

BUMP!

Same here, LTE data takes a few seconds to kick in and then it is fast as usual. But the lag between Wi-Fi being turned off and LTE kicking in is noticeable. Haven't tested moving between 3G and LTE as my area is completely covered with LTE.

oh wow I just posted a thread about this, they need to fix this asap. this is a HUGE deal breaker for me. I cant have a iPhone 5 that lags to find a network LTE connection...Ill just keep my 4s if thats the case because a 4s on 3G would probably beat an iPhone 5 on LTE with this bug..Hopefully its not a hardware issue..that would be a disaster

At this point, looking back through five pages of comments, I am fairly confident that it is a Verizon network issue.

I don't plan on contacting Apple about this issue unless circumstances dictate otherwise going forward.

I did reach out to Verizon via their Twitter support account; and I hope to hear something back from them tomorrow. It looks like several others have also reached out to Verizon via Twitter and posted a link to this thread for them to read.

i just tweeted vzw...i pray to god this gets fixed asap....we may need an update from apple software wise though
