Verizon, same issue takes 10-15 seconds lag when startingtl use tbe internet, sometimes longer, then starts zooming fast.

Filing a ticket with verizon right now. Apple next.

Guys please please please file a ticket with verizon, this tech is saying only 3 tickets have been filed for this particular lag. (Prolly BS but yeah.. )

Do they give a ticket number so that others can call in and reference towards that number and add another?

excellent work everyone, especially to the user who has confirmed his phone works properly in NY but not Miami!

So glad I found this thread, I was about to return my phone! Have noticed the lag issue since I got the phone on Friday- in North Ga. Have called and tweeted VZW.

I'm in Orlando. Same problem. Big delay until it connects then its blazing fast. But makes Siri useless, iMessage annoying, and streaming a hassle - thanks Verizon!

Anybody going back to the iPhone 4 or 4s if this doesn't get resolved soon or will you just keep the 5?

I see that Verizon's twitter support account is active this morning....Anyone hear back from them? I just sent them another message!

On my phone, the lag seems to be the same on LTE and 3G. Would that make it more of an apple hardware/ software issue or a VZW network issue?

Not to rub it in anybody's face but can confirm that my AT&T iPhone 5 is NOT having this issue. This supports the single-chip theory.

Not the chip that is having problems. Its the verizon network across the south having the issue.

This is not a phone problem, it's a Verizon area problem. A user here flew to a different city and his phone worked fine there.

I think it more likely supports the idea that Verizon is having a regional network problem. Other folks in areas outside the Southeast and Texas on Verizon are confirming that they are not experiencing this problem.

Its only happening across the south. People elsewhere across the country are not having the issues with the iphone 5 on verizon network. So something is hosed up at verizon at one of their major hubs in the south.

I think I'm experiencing this and I live in NY

Hey all, I made an account to post about this.
I live about 45 minutes north of NYC in NY and I think I am experiencing something similar to this. I'd appreciate it if you guys could tell me if this is the same thing that you are experiencing or not.

Pretty much, whenever I am at home and on WiFi, my iPhone 5's internet works fine. When I leave WiFi, my phone's screen SAYS that I have 3G internet, but when I try to access any app on my phone that utilizes a data connection, nothing happens. My phone acts like there is absolutely no network connection. Yesterday I tried for over 10 minutes to get a webpage to load and nothing happened. It wasn't until I did a complete reboot of the phone that the data connection went through and suddenly my internet was lightening fast. So far this has happened to me every time I left my home (and WiFi connection that I had been using).

I have Verizon by the way.

Just called Verizon and got a dunce who told me he saw several mentions of this problem and that he was going to submit a request for help to APPLE.

I insisted that it seemed to be a Verizon network issue and he persisted with wanting to submit the issue to Apple. I think he's barking up the wrong tree so I will likely call back later today and file a ticket with someone who will escalate the issue within Verizon.

Still haven't heard a peep from the @vzwsupport account despite posting last night and earlier this morning.

yours sounds different..

ours is this.

phone is locked, or hasnt been using internet (playing a game that doesnt use internet etc) we then use siri/ browse a page in safari/ send imessage etc (something that uses internet) and it takes 20 seconds or longer for the internet to start loading despite having LTE service (i get full service i am blocks away from a tower) and still have this lag when my phone has been "idle" from internet. After the initial lag, the internet is loading fast! until you stop using it for a period of time again, and it repeats

In fairness, they will have to work together to nail down the cause and determine resolution. (though it certainly does feel like a network issue)

This describes the issue I'm having precisely. I've been all over Metro Atlanta this weekend and have had full LTE signal everywhere I've gone; yet there is a "startup" delay of 10-15 seconds using LTE data when the screen is unlocked from sleep. The circle next to the clock spins as if the phone is thinking while the app that's trying to pull data off the LTE connection sits idle. Then, the data loads and so long as I don't lock the phone and let it sit idle for a few minutes, the data continues to load instantaneously. Once I lock the phone and put it back in my pocket for more than a minute or two, though, the delay happens again over LTE once the screen is unlocked.
