Soooo I just got my shipping confirmation the other day, and I looked at the tracking, and then got really confused. Is Fedex going outside and doing some doughnuts in the parking lot with a bunch of the shipments and then going back to the facility? Or is there something wrong with the tracking. Can anyone explain??

Just being staged for friday delivery. Lots of people have the same tracking history.

Never before have any of us cared so much about the minutia of text on a tracking form (except the DELIVERY DATE).

Nothing's wrong w/ tracking -- the Memphis slips all look like this.

I'm sure the packages are scanned when they get off the plane from China, on every conveyor belt and every truck/moving van on the massive Fedex hub property. It explains why they have an extremely low rate of losing a package.
 
Finally got my tracking number!!!

Ordered Friday 14th, 2:15am Central
Order Confirmation 3 hours later
CC Account balance and available balance differ this morning
Received tracking email at 10:30am Central
Package is in Memphis, Expected delivery by 3pm on Friday, 21st

Been on Android forever now; can't wait for my first iPhone (even though everything else I own is Apple)

Same here... first iPhone been on android for over 2 years.... run iMac and MBP.

Haha I was just wondering. I'm not the type to call up and cuss them out to make sure its on time. I have no idea how shipping works to be honest, it just looked strange :p
 
So confused, three different ways to check order status and different statuses:

I'm in the same situation you are.

I wouldn't worry about it. The AMEX declines that have since gotten shipping/tracking numbers in the past few days got pushed to 10/5 when their CCs got declined, then went blank, then got their tracking numbers shortly thereafter.

My status is the same as yours but my tracking went from 9/21 to 10/5 to blank now.

i had just gotten an email saying my order was on hold because they needed a 400 deposit. i called and he said i'll still get my phone friday. there is a pending charge on my credit card but my status isn't changing
 
What does "Received and activated" mean when you check the status of the order on the phone instead of online. It's still blank for me online.

This is a glitch as they are recycling old order numbers.... (read: VZW had bad computer system design)

You cannot rely on the phone system... you need to do online or talk to a human... 800-922-0204

Ok, here is the scoop. Just got off the line with internet sales. He told me straight forward in so many words that customer service (#611) is full of crap, my order was NOT cancelled, I did NOT get booted out of line, payment was taken and my phone is scheduled to ship out. He said as long as I ordered before 9 AM on 9/14 I will get the phone on Friday. I ordered a few minutes after 6 AM on 9/14. In fact my confirmation email is dated 9/14 6:03 AM.

So, if you are having trouble, everyone is right! Customer service is FULL of it! Call the internet sales number: 1(866) 338-7390

He informed me that customer service has no access to the ordering system, they only have access to the billing system. He said your order is on schedule, I promise, no worries! LOL :D

and the third was using the second link and choosing phone order. The phone order is the one that is actually showing the ship date of 9/21. I just put in the Order number and location number from the confirmation email.

Then I realized (or wish!?) that it was three separate activities.

I concur. I don't think their was a hard & fast cut-off for deliveries on Friday, 9/21. it was clearly much more loose...

I ordered my phone at 10:35AM Pacific (1:30 PM Eastern) 9/21 and my delivery is confirmed by FedEx for 9/21
 
lol that store rep just wanted the commission on 5 phones!!

i dont think anyone with 9/26 is getting them.
i also dont think verizon is selling any phones on launch day. at least not the store i spoke to.
your best bet is getting the phones from radioshack, (not sure if walmart sales vzw) walmart, or bestbuy. In austin we have a walmart like store called HEB they had tons of the 4s.
Most places wont sell 5 iphones to one customer on a walk in BTW.At least not during opening.

i say go find them at a local store that sells, cancel the orders after you confirm they have them in stock. would suck to cancel, and then not be able to get any locally.. or just wait a week? it might get bumped up who knows.

I was told by VZW customer service yesterday that CORPORATE stores (aka service centers) would have "some". Do I trust this person at VZW Customer Service? A little... but she did not resolve my issues it took more people to ensure i get my order Friday as promised.
