When I ordered mine online this morning, it said "DELIVERED BY 9/21" and I have the screen shot of that. Now when I check the order it says SHIP BY 9/21.

Verizon iPhone 5 Preorder Status Thread

This. I ordered my 4S from Apple last year, but I kept an eye on the other sources just in case and Verizon/AT&T orders showed movement around the Wednesday before public release.
This needs to be stickied, truest statement on this whole forum and people in this thread will be going crazy. Simply put, most of our phones are stateside before tracking numbers assigned, lots of apples direct orders will come from China.
As said before, your phone will get here the 21st.
Yeah unfortunately people won't remember this post...just like people are still worried that it says ship by 9/21.
As far as I know Verizon gets a bulk shipment from Apple stateside and then they send it to us.

YOu think VZW would realize they could curb a lot of calls by just fixing that..
Also I love that this is old enough hat for some of us that we know exactly what to expect for timeframe of updates.
I know right? The thing is it was the same way last year! How did they not realize what a problem it caused? Just like they could put a thing that says "don't worry if your credit card has a different name then the billing address as long as the address is right"
thanks everyone for sharing this link! The main order search won't pull up my order at all. I called Verizon to change my plan and they couldn't find my preorder either. The above posted link at least shows me my order is still in their system. Whew!! I appreciate that peace of mind since verizon call reps and their computers are clearly overwhelmed right now.
It's not that they are slow but they are probably still receiving shipments from Apple. Instead of going from China to our doors, phones ordered through carriers have at least one stop in between. It's not to early though...it is making it so a lot of people aren't posting threads just to have a simple question answered that is already answered in here.
Don't get your hopes up...Apple has FedEx hold them and FedEx isn't going to screw up a multimillion dollar contract by sending out phones early. A few might slip out early but not the majority.I am hoping on tuesday Love to see this phone early..

Also, guys, if it says "Expected Ship Date: 9/21/2012", it actually means that it WILL BE DELIVERED on that day. This same issue with the wording happened last year, but everyone got theirs on time.

Oh, forgot to post it, but I called VZW earlier and asked to get the upgrade fee waived and they said they can't waive the upgrade fee as it applies to everyone.

Been at school all day so I'm just reading all the pages I missed and I have already seen post after post with people worrying about the expected ship date. It's in the OP, people!
Sounds like a good idea. The person I talked to seemed like she was in a rush to get the call over with.
I can't blame them to much...last year was my first iPhone preorder and I was flipping out just like a lot of people this year. But now I know what's up so I'm not worried.
I too would be flipping out, but thankfully, I read literally every page in last years Verizon 4S preorder thread so that I was fully aware of errors that might pop up, like how the wording isn't correct.
Good on you! I'm not going to lie whenever I check my preorder status I am always worried I am somehow going to accidentally hit the cancel order button! That would suck so much
