Guys, I'm on the phone with a customer representative and they are CONFIRMING that because my apartment number was somehow left out on the BILL TO and SHIP TO addresses by the Preordering system, that the devices will NOT ship with them (even though my billing address has the full address and apartment number).

I know that I was not the only one on here who was concerned about this. I'm furious! Then they said if I cancel the order and re order with the apartment number, then I will be put way back at the end of the line.

Yesterday, an online customer rep told me differently - said that the device would ship WITH my apartment number and that the pre-ordering system was just not showing my apartment for whatever reason.

Does ANYONE have a definitive answer on this???

P.S. To recap, I'm an existing customer and my personal info was populated automatically into the pre-ordering system (didn't show my apt. number) and it was greyed out, preventing me from making any changes to the SHIP TO address.

How do they know wether or not you have an appt number. I cant imagine their shipping systems are smart enough to verify that every address is the correct address? If anything it will ship but you will have to pick up at Fedex office if the driver doesn't recognize you from past orders.

They know I have an apartment number because I'm an existing customer and the bills I get every month have my apartment number. As I stated above, the pre-ordering system automatically pulled in my informationi (name, address, phone number, email, etc.) - but for some reason, it does not show my apartment number and does not even give you an option to change that information or add the apartment number.

Worst case scenario I will post a sign on the outside of my building with my name and apartment number. LOL.
 
They know I have an apartment number because I'm an existing customer and the bills I get every month have my apartment number. Once you receive the tracking number, wouldn't you be able to contact UPS or FEDEX, whoever it ships from, and tell them to add the apartment number, hold it for you at the HUB or (if it's FEDEX) send it to a local FedEx/Kinko's store for pick up?

I called online support and they added a note to my pre order stating the apartment number. They cannot, however, change any information on the actual order itself.

Hopefully everything will turn out well. If not you can always call fedex and edit the destination.

So yesterday morning at 8:30 AM EST, I ordered my new iPhone over the phone. I got an email order confirmation via email.

However, I have yet to be able to really access any order status on their website. I have seen some of you guys post screen shots of your order status from the Verizon Wireless website; I'm not seeing the same.

Has anyone else experienced this? Email confirmation but not much luck finding order status on the website?

You need to go to the status page. Do not use the link that came with your email confirmation as most people have had difficulty with it.

Try this link and enter your order number and last name. If it doesn't work use your mouse to press the enter button instead of hitting the enter key.

Haha same! People need to read the past few pages and they'll see that it has been posted numerous times and that its nothing to worry about. Anyways, we're supposed to get our shipping notices on Weds/Thurs, correct? Or at least that's what happened last year from what I've heard.
 
Thanks folks. Appreciate it. It's weird that it says 9/21 is my ship date though. My email says deliver by 9/21.

Oh well.. I'll live either way.

EDIT: I went back and re-read the last few pages of the thread. I suspect that VZw probably has their GUI default to the release date as the ship date. To avoid being accused of breaking those pesky street dates.

I feel better now though that I can actually see a status online.

$1 Charge?

It seems like everyone is saying that they have a $1 charge on their card that they're using to authorize the cards. Should I be worried if my dad's card hasn't been charged that $1 yet? My friend said something about how that $1 charge may only be on debit cards and not credit cards. Anyone have any more info?

My card has never been pre-authorized for a Verizon pre-order. It's a credit card, not a debit card. This scared me during previous pre-orders and caused me to lose sleep for several nights prior to the delivery of the unit.

For this pre-order, I saw my doctor and got a prescription for Valium. So far, I have slept at least a few hours the past two nights and I've only called to check the status of my order two times each day. This has been a much nicer pre-order experience for me!

Mine is on a credit card. It shows it under my pending charges area and not my recent purchases. Sometimes they hide that from view. I used AMEX.

Edit: I have decided to refill my Xanax prescription for this pre-order. Is Valium better?

My card has still not been charged either. I'm pretty sure it won't be charged until the iPhone hits FedEx in US soil.

This also happened to me last year, during the first ever Verizon iPhone 4 preorder. I entered my suite number (for my work address) and it was left off of the confirmation email and the shipping label. They told me I had to wait for the package to ship, call Verizon, and ask them to put in a ticket with UPS to change the delivery address in-transit. If you go this route, make sure to be quick about it. I ended up having to ask Verizon to put in a second ticket to UPS while the package was out for delivery (when I called UPS to verify that the first ticket went through, they told me Verizon had them add "rural route 500" instead of "tower 1, suite 500") and even though I'd caught the UPS guy the day before and let him know that the package with my name and no suite number went to suite 500, that second ticket to UPS prevented the system from allowing a delivery scan - it had to go back to the sort facility and get re-labeled with the correct address. I was able to take delivery of it the next day.

This time I saw it coming and specified my apartment number in the same line as my last name, after unchecking "shipping address same as billing address." That showed up on the confirmation email. Hopefully it will print out on the label and UPS won't know the difference. Fortunately, I now live in an attended building and the doorman should be able to figure out where it's going if UPS can't.

Last year I looked at the source code of the preorder site and realized there was a spot for "address line 2" but it was somehow hidden/inaccessible. I guess when they validated the shipping address against their database of addresses (UPS or otherwise), the fact that I put lines 1 and 2 where only line 1 was expected caused the database to return only the line 1 value, and I couldn't put anything in line 2 because it was hidden, so the database returned nothing for the line 2 value. While there is no hidden "line 2" field this time, I suspect they haven't changed the backend.

Mine isn't even in the pending charges. I'm not really worried since my order number works just fine when I check the order status, but I was just checking to see if I'm supposed to have one or not.

I have developed a tolerance for Xanax. So now I switch between Valium and Percocet. It makes the pre-order process seem like a dream.

Oh god, that's frustrating.

I'm hoping that my low tech sign on the door for the delivery man will be a good safety net in case I can't get a hold of FedEx or UPS to append my apartment number. It's amazing that I have to waste my time trying to figure this out when I just spent nearly a grand on 3 ip5's.

I was. Worse was that I had 3 iPhones to pre-order (for my mom, my dad, and me) and got charged $30 for each one. I did a pre-order for my friend (who also has Verizon) on Apple's site and he didn't get charged that $30.

And I'm assuming your other pre-orders went through just fine despite never being charged for authorization?

I wasn't charged for either of my two lines and I ordered from Verizon. Could be that I get a monthly discount from my company though, another benefit.
