If there is a failed delivery attempt, will it show that on FedEx tracking, or will it remain at "Out for Delivery" until there is a successful delivery attempt?

So has anyone who has activated their new phone gone from a dumb phone with the same number? Was it smooth, and what is the best / easiest way to do it. Mine is on the truck, but I want to be ready to go when I get home :)

I am moving to Verizon from Tmobile (and taking phone numbers with me). I am a totally new Verizon customer and have never had an iPhone before (had blackberries for nearly a dozen years!)

Can anyone comment on the procedure to move the phone numbers and service to Verizon? Does it go smoothly? I filled out the information (phone number, Tmo account number, etc) when doing the online pre-order. Is it really that simple?

I just turn on my new iPhone and my Tmo blackberry will go dead and my new iPhone will take over?

Normally with FedEx the tracking will update at some point and say something about Delivery Attempt made. However their tracking does not always update in real time, I've had situations where I was watching tracking and it wont up date for 8-10 hours and then all of a sudden it will have several updates with times all during the time I was watching. I'm guessing this happens when their hand held scanners loose service or something and then when it gets it back it dumps a whole bunch of info.

What's great about living on the Left Coast? --12:01AM Launch day ordering
What sucks about living on the Left Coast? -- watching everyone else get their phones delivered before you!

I moved from ATT to VZ last year on 4S launch day, within about 10 minutes of activating the 4S from Verizon my number port was complete and I was making and receiving calls with my number. Hopefully it will be similar for you!

My expected delivery went from "by 3pm" to "by 8pm".

Hope they're just hedging their bets and it gets here before 3 any way. Either way, I'm still happy I'm getting it today rather than later.

Queens, NY here.

I'm no expert, but I'll tell you what the rep told me. I'm also new to VZW and Verizon called me a couple days ago because I'm porting 2 numbers to the 2 phones I ordered. My first phone is actually porting my landline home phone number... they said that wouldn't port until Sunday. The second phone is porting a wireless number from Virgin Mobile and they said when it ports is entirely up to Virgin Mobile. You may not have any trouble because it sounds like VZW didn't call you. They called me because both ports were giving them issues. Good luck to you!

Thank God I didn't Spend the Night in Line!

To take a break from hitting "Refresh", I just swung by my local mall-based Apple Store ('The Oaks', Thous Oaks, CA) at 7:45 AM Pacific (store opened at 8 AM today). The hype was correct - there were 175 people (& 4 babies w/o credit cards) in line waiting to get new iPhones.

First guy in line said he had gotten there at 7 PM last night. Mall security forced people in line to spend the night in their cars, and line reformed outside at 4 AM (they were let in the Mall again at 6 AM).

Five minutes before opening, an army of blue-shirted Apple employees (perhaps ~ 50) made a running lap around the line hooting/hollering & hi-fiving the 'line people' to energize the crowd and wake up the sleeping.

When the first guy came out at 8:10 AM with his new iP5, the entire line erupted in cheers for him.

Just refreshed FedEx tracking - my phone is finally scanned in at the local FedEx facility, Canoga Park, CA as of 7:42 AM Pacific (after no scan x 19 hrs).

Thank God I'm not one of those 'line people'. Wait is almost over. My doggie and I are awaiting to greet the FedEx driver. FedEx, just like Santa Claus, has never failed to deliver on time.

LOL that would drive me insane! It's funny how it takes an iPhone delivery to pick up on the slightest vehicle noise not to mention a bunch of school buses! Good luck.

Yep some buses have the same engine as ups and fedex package cars. An F-350 Ford Diesel pickup will fool ya too:D
