Did you pay full price??

I was not charged the fee ether, but I did pay full price. I wonder if its just going to come on the bill next month?

I got that cute surprise from them once before when I moved my iPad from pre-paid to part of my data share plan, they hit me with a $30 activation fee they forgot to mention when I was doing it.

They will charge fee when you activate. Happened with my other phone. Since you pay full price, and considered month to month, they don't charge until activation, whereas if you do an upgrade, they get you right away.

If they charge me a fee to activate my phone I payed full price for I'll be calling and having it waived.

Ordered mine before midnight PST and got a confirmation email at 12:02 a.m. Delivery date says 9/21, but order status hasn't been changed from processing. I also got a pending charge on my CC for $1.00.

Really pleased with how smoothly it went. I'm just glad I don't have to spend the night at the apple store.

That sounds about the same as what my friend did. He got on a few minutes before midnight and got his confirmation at about 12:02 am as well. His status is the same as yours. That's why I find it interesting that some people are saying their statuses say shipped.

I'm pretty sure the only person saying that is that one guy in this thread...other then that it is all Apple.com preorders. I really don't think the majority of ours will ship till Wednesdayish

Same here. Was able to get my pre-order in at 2:56AM EST (4 minutes before pre-orders were supposed to open up) and got my confirmation email at 2:56AM EST, about 2 seconds after my pre-order went through. I paid with my debit card so I haven't gotten any preauth charges, but then again, I don't think VZW does preauth charges on debit cards. My order status still says "We have received your order and it is in process," with an estimated ship date of 9/21/2012. So far, it hasn't changed from the estimated date, so I have nothing to worry about.

The process was very smooth and I was done in seconds. Couldn't have been better, IMO.

Slower updating process than apple.com aside, Verizon ordering was a dream over my past experiences with apple.com and att.com. I can't think of a single preorder, and I've done them all, that wasn't a complete clusterfark of epic proportions, with a lot of refreshing and praying. VZW's site did not flinch. Hopefully a good sign of things to come with my new service.

Got my conformation! A bit concerned though because if I "check the order status" it does not show the order as being valid. Anyone else having this issue?
I'm on the same boat, I called Verizon last night about the same thing and they said since its a preorder, the order hasn't technically been placed, however they have a record of it and plan to deliver the phones according to the date on your preorder confirmation email.

For my Preorder I used my brothers upgrade which is a dumb phone. I currently have the 4S and an unlimited data plan I plan to get the 5 and give him my 4S. Does anyone know if I should activate the iPhone 5 on his line first then change it to my line or I can go straight to my line and activate it then put the 4S on his line. I should be able to keep my unlimited data plan right?

Was gonna cancel and order through apple but the lady couldn't tell me how long the contract reset would take so ill just stick with my Verizon order. Maybe they will come early.

because sprint sucks  the only thing i dont like about VZW is not being able to use data and talk at the same time :(

You can talk and use data on all Verizon 4G LTE devices. That includes the new iPhone.

Edit: I was quickly corrected. It's all Verizon 4G devices EXCEPT the iPhone. I just ASSumed.

Unfortunately not true for the iPhone 5. See any one of five or six threads on this forum to see a link to the official Apple announcement on that...

The answers to most of your questions, a well as a lot of great information, can be found there.

It's not that VZW is slower updating than Apple, it's just that VZW isn't shipping iPhone 5's to customers from China like Apple is. VZW has tons of iPhone 5's that are already at different shipping hubs in the states, so they have no need to start shipping them 4-5 days before they are stated to be delivered like Apple needs to. Since VZW's are already in the states, they can just ship them on Weds/Thurs with 2-day or overnight shipping and get them to people on time. Meanwhile, Apple ship to customers direct from China. In order to get them delivered on time, they need to ship them ASAP. Apple's stock needs to go from China, through US Customs, to state side shipping hubs, and then finally to customers. This is why people who ordered through Apple have already started receiving their tracking numbers.

I can't complain, though, because VZW's website, as you said, didn't skip a beat. It never slowed down for me and showed no signs of failure. They definitely prepared for this, and boy did they do a good job. From what I've heard, AT&T did not prepare so well.

Hey folks, I'm having an issue and need some assistance with resolving it.

I am on a family plan, and I am an authorized user. The account holder lives about an hour away from me. I pre-ordered the iPhone 5 via phone at about 2AM mountain time on Friday morning.

I'm confident the shipping address is correct, as the confirmation email stated it as it should be; however, the billing address it what I am concerned about. On the email it shows the account holder's billing address even though I am using my own card.

The website doesn't let me change the payment method nor did calling in and asking to have it changed because the system is "overloaded".

What happens if when they try to charge my card with the wrong billing address and it doesn't work? Will they cancel my order, call me or what?

No kidding! I tried Apple right at 3 AM EST and it was still down. I tried Verizon and it went through without any effort, smooth experience all the way. By the time I recieved my confirmation email 20 minutes later, the Apple store was still down for me. Big red seems to be the only ones who had their act together, though I can't speak for Sprint.

Exactly. Had the same experience. According to other users, Sprint absolutely died under the load lol. No one could access their site.

Quoting myself, I'm desperate to find an answer to this question :p

I was kinda worried about this as well. I used my own debit card, but the account still had my parents' billing info. I'm hoping it won't cause a problem, but I'm not sure.

This is my exact situation as well. I got a preauthorization charge on my Amex so I'm assuming all is well.

I can vouch for this. My friend was ordering through Verizon and I was ordering through Sprint. At 12:01 am I asked him if he had any luck getting through as I couldn't. His response?

"What do you mean? I'm done ordering. Aren't you?"

Meanwhile, the Sprint site wasn't working (for me at least) until 12:45 a.m. I ended up ordering through Apple.

Sprint, interestingly enough, still says it has 32 GB and 64 GBs available for 9/21 Delivery.
