I know this is far from usual for a device and may not make much sense to do because of that, but wouldn't a super detailed order tracking application be nice for obsessives such as ourselves?

I have the same message and I ordered a 16g. Probably has a lot to do with where you live.
It's the same thing, just worded poorly, us that have tracking numbers said the same thing, but now we have tracking numbers from fedex saying it will be delivered on 9/21.
Crap! I guess it's because of my CC card being denied the first time through - at least the Rep at Verizon said I'm still good for Friday. Maybe they just haven't updated mine yet?
I have that same location code W327701 and I am in Lansing MI. Ordered 32GB Black by phone from Verizon 800 number the 14th at approx 7:00 AM. Order status shows Ship By 9/21. My AMEX card has not been charged.
Just got a fedex tracking number.....and none too soon my Droid x is really making me mad this morning.
This is addressed 100 times in this thread, and it happened last year with the 4S...you will get it Friday. For some reason they just don't phrase it correctly on the site.
I would. As long as you have the email saying "deliver BY 9/21/12, Verizon can't go and switch gears on you at the last minute.
But they are doing their best at finding every reason to NOT get you your phone.
- saying your card is declined
- Not charging your card for DAYS [I ordered Friday at 8am.. yet to get a tracking #]
I've made sure to bug verizon customer service reps and have them NOTE on my account it says delivered BY 9/21/12. They are saying they should ship out on Wednesday, justifying two days shipment.. but still.. promises should be kept. Not changed. Printscreen & save all documents. Hoard.

I'm betting VZW is processing based on order number. This am ive noticed the mid fives digits are getting shipment notifications so I'd imagine that by later this evening and tomorrow those of us in the low six digits will get our notifications.
Whew...actually typing that rather than just saying it to myself over and over again might help me relax...for an hr, maybe.

I could've sworn that when I completed the checkout process at Verizon I ended up at a screen that didn't display an order number, but according to you guys it seems like I'm just insane/blind and didn't see it. I still haven't received any confirmation email but I do have the $1 preauthorization charge. I've contacted Verizon via email to look up the number for me.
