From my conversation with Apple Exec Esclations and VZ tech support I am not convinced they have a fix coming with 10.1. This is based on convserstiosn and their responses via twitter DM, which they baisically admited it is being worked but no resolution is near.

The fact that this is slowly improving leads me to believe they are trying to fix this on the carrier side.

I asked my girlfriend to do the Reset All Settings thing, which she did.

I'm not sure how much effect it had, as her LTE connectivity had been improving slightly over the last week or so.

Did Resetting all the settings end up working? I am having these same problems and Im getting desperate for a fix. I called apple on 2 different occasions and the tech guys both said they had never heard of this problem. I told them to google it and they would see article after article describing this problem. Both apple techs said they did not have internet access to do that!?!?!?! hahahahaha what a joke! I read on another website that if you downoload ios10.1 beta 3 the problem is resolved...or you can wait then just wait for the ios10.1 software update which should be released later this month...

I'd say try it. It's a minor pain in the ass, but at least you'll be able to cross that off the list.

I had two swapped phones and by issue does not go away. I think VZ is patching their network to keep hold of the connection, just my opinion. I also don't think they have a solution coming anytime soon. I took my VZ phone to AT&T and have zero issues. Sports , god and call clarity have been amazing and the phone is amazing.

Just got off the phone with Verizon and the tech support told me this is a known issue and they just got notice, 30 minutes earlier, that an Apple update (10.0.3?) will be issued very soon that should address and fix the issue. Fingers crossed!

im curious...does this problem seem to only affect Verizon iphone 7/7+ users or do other carriers suffer from this also? If this doesn't get resolved Im trying to formulate a plan to possibly go back to AT&T. I should have never switched from AT&T. I live in the middle of the city and I can't tell you how many dropped calls I get with verizon and how often i only have 1 bar of service.

I'm on AT&T and had a slight connectivity issue for a few days. I had to restart and then it would connect to LTE. For some reason but in less than a week the problem stopped and haven't had it since. I have the std 7 and it's working fine now.
Also, the first two days I had the phone it would freeze up on the home screen and required restart to correct. That also has not happened since the first couple days.

You called it. 10.0.3 is out.

US Cellular customer here. Have not been able to receive LTE service on my 7 plus since 9/26 (4 days after receiving the phone).
Just installed the latest update, and my issues currently appear to be resolved. Signal immediately went to LTE when wifi was turned off. I will be keeping a close eye on it over the coming days.

10.0.3 fixed the iPhone 7 Verizon LTE connectivity issue for me! Granted, I just did the update and have only tested in limited settings, but so far, so good.

I will just wait for the official update to be released. I am not having any major problems in my area. I just have LTE
voice off

Spoke too soon. Verizon LTE connectivity on iPhone 7 is NOT FIXED with 10.0.3. It is better, and seems to be faster, but not completely fixed. Still getting 3G and 1x in areas there should be at least 1-2 bars of LTE. It does seem to be better, and transitions from VZN WiFi to VoLTE when it picks up an LTE signal, but still getting the 3G/1x at times. Very frustrating. Don't know what to do at this point.

I feel your pain. Let's hope a fix is soon.

I think they fixed what they could, my opinion, and the real fix will happen with 10.1 When i upgraded to 10.1 beta 2. I noticed better connection, but terrible speeds and overall slowness. I ported to AT&T and no issues at all. Super fast speeds, speeds and no GPS issues. Shaped the wife sim into the mine for a few hours and no change at all from 10.1 beta 2 or 3.

I am staying with AT&T. The phone is amazing when it works on a good network.

The problem is I switched from AT&T to Verizon they have so much better coverage in my area

I am in the DC Area and generally VZ has better coverage and had no issues with the 6S+, however the 7+ is slow and wonky on their network. Getting an average of 50-60 MBPS with 1 bar in the house and VZ is under 1 mbps and almost no upload speeds. Considering the 6S+ in the same spot gets 45+MBPS and the 7+ barley moves makes me believe the fix is not complete.

Installed 10.0.3 today. First commute after update was a success, no connectivity drops, which is a first for me. Cautiously optimistic so far. Traveling in Europe for work this week, so more testing next week.

I'm on Verizon, iPhone 7 MB 128Gb in NYC.

I updated to 10.0.3..i was optimistic..i felt like it maintained LTE for many hours...than BAM..the horrific looking 3G came back...then went to 1x momentarily...i do admit it's better..however not fixed completely..which is exactly what the update was meant to accomplish...which is the scary part...I'll give it some time but will eventually switch back to AT&T (which in my experience has the better cellular reception in my area anyways) if this isn't 100% fixed in the near future...im hoping 10.1 will have the absolute fix...

Come on Apple/Verizon. Let's find a fix soon

The issue was semi resolved with 10.1, however I think, and still think, it was a patch to force the connection to the network and actually question if the indicators are correct. Speed tests when LTE is identified are no where LTE speeds in spots. Standing in the same spot with a 6s Plus getting 60 mbps vs the 7+ and getting 1mbps is not normal.

I also believe they are not telling anyone of the full extent of the issue.

Wow the difference in those speedtests is horrible, considering your standing in the same spot with both a 6s and 7. Are slow speed tests on your 7 common, or only intermittent? Would be interesting to see if you dialed the field test app *3001#12345#*, then go to Serving Cell Info, what LTE band you're using for those speedtests...or, if you're truly using 3G, the field test should give you options for 1x and EVDO instead of LTE menu items.

So far, the upgrade to 10.0.3 on my VZ iPhone 7 seems to have improved the issue for me. I was able to recreate the 4G -> 3G drop at will. Inside my desk drawer is an almost dead zone for LTE.

- volte turned on, put iphone 7 in desk drawer for 5 seconds then remove from desk.
... phone drops to 1 bar LTE inside desk, signal strength does not recover when removed from desk,
data is unusable while at 1 bar and after 10 more seconds (outside of desk) drops to 3G.

- volte turned off, put iphone 7 in desk drawer for 5 seconds then remove from desk.
... phone drops to 1 bar inside desk, but quickly recovers to 2-3 bars once removed,
data is usable immediately after removal from drawer.

- upgrade to 10.0.3, volte turned on, put iphone 7 in desk drawer for 5 seconds then remove from desk.
... phone drops to 1 bar inside desk, but quickly recovers to 2-3 bars once removed,
data is usable immediately after removal from drawer.

Things to note: The above test, as unscientific as it is, could recreate the 3G drop in 9 out of every 10 test attempts. Any phone, including an iphone 5s, will eventually drop to 3G if left in the dead zone drawer for long enough, but the iphone 7 was extremely sensitive to the less than stellar LTE signal prior to the 10.0.3 upgrade. My modem firmware was sitting at 1.00.04 when on 10.0.2, and was upgraded to 1.00.05 with the 10.0.3 IOS update. Lets hope this was more than a signal indicator band aid.
