A growing number of Verizon subscribers are complaining about a serious issue that causes them to regularly lose LTE connectivity on their iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus devices, suggesting a major bug that needs to be resolved by either Apple or Verizon.

There are dozens of complaints from Verizon customers who have purchased either an iPhone 7 or an iPhone 7 Plus on the MacRumors forums, Reddit, and the Apple Support Communities.

Phones from other carriers may also be experiencing the same problem, as there are also complaints from some AT&T subscribers. The problem appears to be limited to Apple's newest devices, with those who have earlier iPhones not reporting connectivity issues. As described by Reddit user Kangalex:Affected customers are seeing their LTE connectivity cut out at regular intervals, leaving them stuck with 3G/1X speeds or no signal at all. This can cause calls to disconnect when VoLTE is in use in addition to interrupting data usage. Turning off VoLTE can avoid dropped calls, but it does not address the underlying problem.

There appears to be no clear fix for the issue, and customers have been complaining of being routed between Apple and Verizon with neither company offering a solution. Restarts, sim swapping, turning off HD voice, and putting the iPhone in Airplane Mode appear to resolve the issue temporarily, but it returns. Apple and Verizon have swapped out devices for some affected customers, but their new devices have the same problem.

Customers who are experiencing the issue say that the problem is exacerbated by switching between towers, as one might do when traveling in a moving car, and that it is not fixed in iOS 10.0.2 or in the iOS 10.1 beta.

One customer was told it was an Apple software issue, and according to several others, Verizon is aware of the problem and is working with Apple on a fix.

Update: While Verizon users have generated the highest number of complaints about this issue, customers on other carriers around the world have also experienced it.

I have the IPhone 7 256 on the Verizon Network. I have the same problem. Never had these issues with my 6S Plus..

I have tried to talk with Apple and also 2nd level support with Verizon. Yes, they say turn off the Voice & Data over LTE, something I have wanted for a long time and can't use now?!!

Even with that off, I sometimes cycle from LTE to 1x or 3G and even No Service! I can't go on like this forever! I am very disappointed and wish I never upgraded my phone. We need a fix ASAP!

I tried disabling voice over lte. That didn't work. I've gotten new SIM cards, switched out the phone once at Apple Store. I also did full factory reset of iPhone and restored the data through an iTunes backup. Nothing works. Airplane mode switching on an off was only a temporary fix for me. But the past few days, a solution I tried seems to have helped. I signed up for the iOS beta, and was able to download iOS 10.1 beta version 2 on my iPhone. My phone has since been perfectly fine. No more falling back to 3G from LTE and no "no service" at random times.

Finally after 48 hrs of sending logs and hours with tech support, my problem with verizon 3g lte got solved. I didn't had to update the sim card nor any carrier update. but they had to update something on their side.

Also my network extender wasn't working and they fixed that too. The reply i got for network extender was they had to change some bands in it.

This is a big problem for Apple and Verizon. I just switched from AT&T to Verizon last week. I experienced the problem on Saturday when I was in Western PA and the Pittsburgh area. I live in the the Steubenville Ohio area and have had no problems since I turned off LTE voice & data and have only have LTE data only.

Any word on the 3rd GM beta of this is going to bring a silent fix for this issue. I saw it was not spelled out in the notes as a fix or known issue

We're now on VZW (just switched over from ATT), and so far my wife has not had any issues with her iPhone 7. I'm still on the SE, so I didn't get the 7, but she's happy with it

Since iOS 10 my 6s+ on ATT will often drop to 4G when I move into a different non-LTE tower area but won't switch back to LTE when I'm in range of the next LTE tower until I flick in and out of airplane. Didn't do this in iOS 9.

Looking forward to the eventual fix.

Any idea what they updated? And did you work with Verizon or Apple tech support?

Thanks.

I'm having the same issue with my 32gb iPhone 7. I am also experiencing some phone calls not ringing through. I've already been through the Do Not Disturb and blocked numbers, neither are the issue.

I worked with verizon support. I am sure at my end I didn't update anything but maybe they updated something in their system. And regarding lte extender they said they changed its frequency band.

And also I updated to beta 3 of 10.1.

So the question is did VZW do a back end modification for your or did the beta 3 mend it. This is where apple needs to work on transparency.

My guess is backend. Something else i have noticed too that as soon as i press call button on iphone the other person phone rings within 2 sec. before that i had to wait couple of secs for the call to go through.

Sounds like some optimization. That worries me about a software patch coming soon.

[doublepost=1476409765][/doublepost]Over in Verizon forum someone reporting doing a General->Reset->Reset All Settings ( *not* "Erase All Contents and Settings") to fix the issue of LTE dropping out to 3G or 1x on iPhone 7, even in strong signal strength areas.

I tried this and, so far, it's looking like it might have worked. The issue might be caused by people restoring their backups from earlier phones to their iPhone 7 models. "Reset All Settings" puts your iPhone 7 into the default settings configuration without affecting your installs apps, etc. You do need to redo your Touch ID and re-sign into iCloud, resign into Messages and re-configure some settings.

[doublepost=1476483723][/doublepost]I have the sprint iPhone 7 plus and started to have this issue. Way back with the iPhone 5 I had it as well went through a few replacements with the 5 it wasn't fixed till an iOS update

I finally ported my number to AT&T after many conversations with Verizon and Apple and now have zero issues. The speeds have been amazing. No dropped calls, GPS issue or overall connection issues. I am using the phone I had with Verizon. My reason for leaving was based on my feeling that VZ does not have a clue and a fix is not right around the corner.

Did Resetting all the settings end up working? I am having these same problems and Im getting desperate for a fix. I called apple on 2 different occasions and the tech guys both said they had never heard of this problem. I told them to google it and they would see article after article describing this problem. Both apple techs said they did not have internet access to do that!?!?!?! hahahahaha what a joke! I read on another website that if you downoload ios10.1 beta 3 the problem is resolved...or you can wait then just wait for the ios10.1 software update which should be released later this month...
