Using a laptop while on the phone is rude too. At least that's how i see it. I get tired of talking on the phone and hearing clicking from my friend's keyboard. Then they would ask me to repeat what i said. When i am having a meaningful conversation with someone, i give them my attention. If i don't care about constant conversation and i don't mind looking up stuff, i'm usually on a skype call on my computer.

Also, i put the condition "to me" because i know i'm not everyone. I was discussing what i have every right to discuss on a message board. If everyone was in my exact situation, would anyone have anything to talk about on here? Probably not. The only generalization i made was that people on here complain too much, and here I am complaining about the people complaining. It's an endless loop and it's quite pitiful. But being sarcastic towards someone who's not complaining and actually trying to continue discussion is quite childish.

Wah.

By your comment above, I'm sure others agree with me that this phone is not for you. Actually, you should stick to a landline. You have no idea how to use a cell phone, probably never heard of Bluetooth headgear, don't have the need to look for information while on the phone, sometimes to assist someone who is lost or needs technical assistance over the phone. That's not being rude. And of course, nobody here is saying they are going to talk on the phone and browse the Internet while driving, so your comment is out of place.
Don't waste your time here either, go fishing instead.

I think you missing the point.. You can not check email or looking up information while driving because that would be breaking laws in some states and stupid seeing you need to worry about driving and not reading a email.. If you are not driving then that means you are around where there is a laptop or a desktop so there no need to stop to look up stuff on phone seeing you have a laptop.. Just because people do not use Voice and Date does not mean a smart phone is not for them... That is a stupid statement all together..

The whole ATT sucks is so ridiculous. Im sure its just from where I live, but I've had just as many dropped calls with ATT with Verizon, and both of them were hardly any.

With that said, Ill take my better data speeds and ability to make calls and surf the web at the same time thank you very much.

With THAT said, Im still just glad that the iphone is still selling out on verizon and doing amazing after all these years. I really didnt think the Verizon hype would last all the way to 2011.

All you did was restate my reason i didn't need voice and data at the same time. That's also why i said it's a non-issue to me because it doesn't really matter to me. I don't use that feature. I use the smartphone because of some specific apps I need for classes and various other things. (yes, i'm pretty sure there's an app for the mac that could be virtually the same thing, but the iPhone is a lot more portable in class and will give notifications of assignments even when asleep) It's complicated. All I was stating about was the simultaneous voice+data. I didn't know I was going to be interrogated for stating my opinion about the topic.

Haha, I was going to comment on his points, but you beat me too it, and well said too!

Bravo chap, bravo.

I think you missing the point....

The point is only that AT&T fanboys are grasping at straws now that the Iphone is on a better network.

Straw 1: In many places AT&T has faster 3G speeds. Really, who cares as long as you have a MB/sec or more to your phone? Do you download DVDs to you phone? Upload CDs? Not likely - for the most part you're just hitting websites for a few hundred KB at most. 1 MB/sec or 1 GB/sec or 1 TB/sec is virtually the same user experience in that case.

Straw 2: Simultaneous voice + data. Who cares? Concoct your little usage scenarios - but in the end you'll realize that "I'll call you back" is more polite to the people on the call than expecting them to sit on hold while you surf. Get a life.

I'm in San Diego, too, and I actually have dropped calls fairly often. The complex that I live in gets hardly any signal, and if I don't sit in one particular spot in my kitchen, I'll miss calls and texts for hours. I typically don't get signal until I'm at least a quarter mile from where I live.

Sucky thing is, when I first moved here (3yr ago), the AT&T coverage map had a big gaping hole right where I am, so when I heard about the free Microcell offers, I was going to call them up and use that as firepower... checked the same map the other day, and it shows it has full coverage here, but there has been no actual change in those three years =(

I also drive by the main AT&T office here in San Diego, and that area has some of the worst reception I've experienced (100% call drop rate). I realize that the office != coverage, but I find it funny and ironic.

Not gonna switch for a while, though. It's annoying, but not THAT annoying.

You can complain until they offer you a free Microcell. Only thing you have to pay is shipping. Most of my family has At&t and the reception and coverage area is horrendous.

Even when you get full bars you constantly get dropped calls. iPhone is great phone but is severely crippled by the horrible network.

As of now I put up with it since currently not in the need to be on the phone constantly. But if I was in need of consistent data and voice then I would jump to Verizon in a heartbeat.

I with you.. I do not use it myself because I care more about saving battery power and also feel it is rude to talk and surf when your are on your smart phone.. It is amazing that people need it when they lived year without it before the iPhone..

Anyone else sick of the "can you hear me now?" guy?

He's the Subway Jared of the Cellphone market.

Sounds like your grasping for straws as well. The faster 3G speeds does matter with loading webpages, you're not sitting there draining battery looking at a progress bar.

The only thing Verizon has over ATT is their signal strength.

My friends on their droids don't seem to have any issues loading webpages. It doesn't really seem as slow as everyone's making it sound from what i've seen. I think it's just another issue blown out of proportion. I mean, you could give me all sorts of info on how much faster AT&T is than verizon, but I can't really see that much of a difference. (at least where I live)

These same old arguments are so annoying. Seeing the AT&T people butt-hurt over Verizon getting "their phone" cracks me up.

I DO like the commercial!!

It's simple and very effective jab at AT&T. Zing!

You spelled "Barack" wrong. :p

I like that commercial tho very hypocritical.

How so?

Gotta hand it to them. It was a good commercial.

However, they should've had a name pop up instead of just a number. I think that would've added more epicness to it. Like Apple does with John Appleseed :apple:

This. Whenever I have phone-connectivity issues, or dropped calls, I ask the client "Which provider are you on?" They're answer: "Verizon"
That might be your personal experience, but it's not the norm:

Seriously. Where do you guys live?

I live in SoCal and travel from San Diego to Los Angeles to Las Vegas to Phoenix on business. And I don't ever "drop a call 4 times".

I'm excited for the iPhone on Verizon because hopefully it really will create competition.

However I am against these ridiculous adds putting down the other company. If that was the case as to who the better carrier is all AT&T needs to run is a commercial showing an AT&T user on the phone sending and receiving an email to a "Verizon" customer. Oh wait... AT&T wins.

And the reviews as to the iP4 on Verizon having better reception.. Really? I mean really? How long did they have the phone? An hour, a week? Did they do side by side comparisons and phone calls?

Next time you're in the Phoenix area head up to Scottsdale/Paradise valley. The service is almost as bad there as it is in San Fran and Manhattan.

I think your missing the point of speed and simultaneous voice + data. To those that what to teather or use the hotspot feature, this is a huge deal. Faster speeds are always better and the ability to stay connected when a call comes through is extremely important.

The early reviews seem to agree that Verizon's reception is better than AT&T's for voice calls.

I find this interesting that there is a comparison between a network burdened by millions of iPhones to a network with hundreds of them.

Before the iPhone, I did not have any problems with AT&T. Since the iPhone, the network sucks. What is it about Verizon's network that leeds people to believe that no network congestion will arise from millions of additional iPhone users being added to their network?

Or better yet, what leads people to believe that with the mass exodus from AT&T to Verizon won't cause an improvement in AT&T's network?

No problems here in KC whatsoever with AT&T. I personally can't wait for Verizon's network to start crumbling under the weight of the iPhone. Then I get to read all the Verizon fanboys whining and moaning about the slowness of the network or the dropped calls or the snail like pace of data transfers. Becareful what you wish for, you just might get it....lol

It all depends on where you live. I know they don't make those ads in my area. My friend who has Verizon always ask 'can you hear him now?', 'What?! Dude call me back on your wifes phone, all I'm getting is static.', she has AT&T.
