The point is only that AT&T fanboys are grasping at straws now that the Iphone is on a better network.

Straw 1: In many places AT&T has faster 3G speeds. Really, who cares as long as you have a MB/sec or more to your phone? Do you download DVDs to you phone? Upload CDs? Not likely - for the most part you're just hitting websites for a few hundred KB at most. 1 MB/sec or 1 GB/sec or 1 TB/sec is virtually the same user experience in that case.

Straw 2: Simultaneous voice + data. Who cares? Concoct your little usage scenarios - but in the end you'll realize that "I'll call you back" is more polite to the people on the call than expecting them to sit on hold while you surf. Get a life.

1 - I can get my NetFlix movies on my phone with no hesitation, movie plays very well.

2 - Very important to me if I'm on a call and it requires that check the web for information needed. "Hang on, I'll call you back" tells someone that they are not that important to you when they call you concerning information that you need to retrieve from the web.

I simply can't wait for Verizon's network to bog down under the weight of the iPhone and read the constant whining about how Verizon's network sucks...lol. Mark my words, it is going to happen and I will be there to smile and say "I told you so."

1) Unless you stream netflix, youtube, sending MMS/video's or anything that requires the bandwidth. Point is really moot. The difference is speed between the two isn't that great.

2) Speaker phone? Bluetooth/Hands free? The person isn't going to be on hold while they 'surf'. With the addition of hotspot and tethering your point is even more ignorant.

Oh man, how many business calls have I screwed up because of AT&T. You know when you're chasing a potential client lead for month and then you finally get to speak to someone, AT&T drops 4 times in a call.

Why Apple decided for this 3rd world operator is beyond me.

Fast voice and data that's why

You do know that when iPhone came out there was no Android phone.. The iPhone was At&t first phone that used up Date then any other smart phone at the time.. Verizon have had Android phones for years and they use as much Data as iPhone uses.. So how can you say some thing without real facts.. The reason At&t crashed because the iPhone push the network harder then any other smart phone just like Android has push Verizon's network but never crash because Verizon was ready for it... The iPhone is not going to change much just because it is now on Verizon..

I'm not an AT&T 'fanboy'... That would be ridiculous..

I was a Verizon customer for 8 years. I live in Metro Detroit and never really had any problems with Verizon. But I owned an ipod touch and wished it to be my phone. So, I switched to AT&T and got an iphone 3g, and now currently I'm on an iphone 4.

Here is my experience. CALL QUALITY, which is something nobody has mentioned, is vastly INFERIOR on Verizon. Seriously. Also, I have no idea how CDMA compares to GSM but do this - call somebody with a GSM phone that you are standing next to. No delay in talking to them. Try the same test with CDMA. 1 second delay. Seems meaningless, but it must mean something!

Anyways, On day two of AT&T I experienced two dropped calls. Not cool. Thankfully this wasn't a pattern and it had something to do with freeway overpasses. My reception was spotty, definitely worse than Verizon.

In early to mid 2010 reception on AT&T was at an all time low. I did notice they were repairing and building towers near me.

Now for the last 8 months I have only experienced 1 dropped call and 3 scrambled calls. Seriously. This is amazing. I went to San Francisco recently, a problematic area, and despite my 5 days there I never once had a reception or data problem as exaggerated online. I think they might've fixed it and y'all are BSing. Bottom line is AT&T reluctantly invested in their network over the past year or so and it's a huge improvement. These early reviews about voice quality and reception... how long have the reviewers had the devices? I call BS. AT&T might be the big bad but Verizon wireless is the bigger bad. Anybody that switches without a legitimate reason is a friggin moron and needs to be shot in the back of their skull mafia style.

I enjoy my roll over minutes and lower data plan prices. "hey dad you lost again? hold on let me pull up a map of where you are at" can't do that on verizon. You mad bro?

That's a great point but you missed something. It was increase in smarts phone and a substantial increase in subs. AT&T had problems in a few markets not the entire network and Verizon has had hiccups in some of their market over time too.. A whole lot more goes into it then just throwing up a tower to increase service. You can place a lot of blame on HOS's and red tape for most service providers problems in congested areas.

I know in my area the FCC screwed AT&T years ago by taking and distrusting a large portion of the spectrum they had but where not using at the time. Then later when they needed it to expand they no longer had it.

Funny things is if you do not use them roll over minutes and they add up after a year you will lost ALL THEM ROLL OVER MINUTES.. So what the point in roll over min's if you do not use them all?

I don't think the "Can you hear me now" guy has put on weight. To me, that looks like a completely different "Can you hear me now" guy.

I remember reading a fake news story about how the "Can you hear me know" guy got a brain tumor. Maybe it wasn't so fake? :)

You don't lose all your roll over minutes. You lose minutes that are a year old so if in January you have 100 roll over minutes come next January if you haven't used those 100 minutes then they fall off.

I need help...

I need everyone's help.

I've been waiting for this moment for 7 months! But now that I have the money and my choice of carriers, I'm frozen as to which one to choose. I've got my MacBook Pro open to this site, and copies of "The New York Times" and "USA Today" articles in front of me. (problem is, those tech journalists live in New York or San Diego so OF COURSE they're going to recommend Verizon)

I live in Orlando and AT&T is perfectly fine here. My friends with the iPhone 4 have only dropped calls once or twice since they got it.

So, do I go with AT&T save 5 dollars and get faster speeds, rollover minutes, simultaneous data/cell, wireless hotspots, and limited data plans?

Or do I go with Verizon, get in on the unlimited data, potentially have fewer dropped calls when I travel, and have signal in the Adirondack mountains when I vacation?

I thought I knew what I wanted, but now I'm having trouble making a decision!

Please Advise.....

Wrong.. I had over 3000 minutes over the year of adding up and a week after it was a year being with At&t I lost all my minutes... You still lose your roll over minutes no matter what if you do not use them and that the point...

Seriously. Where do you guys live?

I live in SoCal and travel from San Diego to Los Angeles to Las Vegas to Phoenix on business. And I don't ever "drop a call 4 times".

I'm excited for the iPhone on Verizon because hopefully it really will create competition.

However I am against these ridiculous adds putting down the other company. If that was the case as to who the better carrier is all AT&T needs to run is a commercial showing an AT&T user on the phone sending and receiving an email to a "Verizon" customer. Oh wait... AT&T wins.

And the reviews as to the iP4 on Verizon having better reception.. Really? I mean really? How long did they have the phone? An hour, a week? Did they do side by side comparisons and phone calls?
I travel for work frequently through those same areas (as well as Northern California) and I drop calls very frequently. Also, often my iPhone will show 3-4 bars but when I actually try to make a call it doesn't go through and the bars suddenly drop. I wish this didn't happen to me but it does.

Except for the LA (Lower Alabama) area of FL, the state is awash in AT&T coverage. Also, its geography favors GSM from what I've been told, since it has very few hills or changes in elevation. For example, the elevation change between Orlando and the Space Coast 50 miles away is 70 feet....in other words its flat as a board.

However, sadly the rest of the United States is not like CF. :(

I would switch to the big V if you can get out of the Death Star if there was not too much cost involved.

Well I'm already past a T-Mobile contract, so I'm free as a bird to go to either AT&T or Big Red... So you'd take Verizon?

I am sure I am not the only one that is turned off by that 30-year-old virgin geek in the Verizon ads. Fail!

Manager: Quick! June is upon us yet again! Install the latest Google Android!

You give these guys far too much credit! There's no shortage of new Android phones shipping older versions of the OS which is shameful. No single phone on Verizon's front page for Android is shipping with the current release. And even worse, a quarter of them are shipping with 2.1 and one of them, unbelievably, is still shipping brand new with 1.6.

So, yeah I kinda doubt anyone is shouting about getting the latest version of Android on their product.

I live in Portland, OR and I have calls get dropped 4 times in a row on a daily basis. The service here is atrocious. I finally caved and got a microcell. There is an amazing difference in voice quality between standard and microcell calls.

The hilarious thing... Half the time the microcell doesn't connect. You have to call 2-3 times in a row to get the call to go through. I think ATT's network is just complete garbage. I'm providing the bandwidth and they can't get the call to go through? Kind of mind blowing.

Android users don't use as much data as iPhone users do. That is a fact. The iPhone completely dominates mobile web traffic based on all the numbers we have seen so far. It's only fair to assume that networks carrying the iPhone will experience heavier traffic than those who don't. Only time will tell if verizon lives up to the expectations.

Please move to Verizon

I hope all of you people complaining about AT&T switch to Verizon asap. Then I can get faster download speeds and I won't lose service when I'm in places where AT&T traffic is heavy. Thanks!

They aren't looking for you as a customer...

I am sure I am not the only one that is turned off by that 30-year-old virgin geek in the Verizon ads. Fail!

I'm pretty sure they aren't looking to turn you on. Actually I'm positive about that. I'm sure they're not looking to get within 2,000 feet of you.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

I received the free macrocell offer yesterday. I'm afraid to use it though for fear there is some 'catch', ie.. I will unwittingly agree to a 20 year contract, etc.??!!

Also, how does the microcell work? Does it somehow utilize my broadband connection? What is the advantage? I already have full signal at home and most everywhere I go in my town. What is the benefit? Is it a population-controll conspiracy to cook peoples brains even faster with higher levels of 3G radiation???

If I'm on a phone call, the phone is against my ear. If I'm using data, it's in front of me. If the phone is against my ear, I don't care if my data link has been transparently paused.

I put the person on speaker, most of the time they don't know it. I also surf the web and check the market.

You might not miss what you never had, but once you have the option its does come in handy.
