I have an Otterbox Defender for my BB Bold 9650 and the only thing I hate about it, it makes the phone so BULKY that it is ridiculous!
Scheduled delivery for me is Monday Feb 7th by 4:30 PM. Asheville, NC area.

I really want it to be delivered on Monday, but likely I'll live if it doesn't.

BUT...it makes the phone just about bullet proof! I can't tell you the number of times I have dropped my phone on concrete or asphalt and had it go skidding across a parking lot...not a scratch on my phone and it works like new. My phone would have been smashed ages ago if I hadn't of had it.
Always been a case guy, but recently quit the case and basically just used screen protector in front pocket with my Droid Inc. No issues.
With the iPhone I read great reviews on the 2 piece anti glare front and crystal back from Power support so I have that. I know the risks of not using a case should I drop it, but I am giving it a shot with just the front and back.
It is that damned if you do damned it you don't thing. I look at peoples iphones and see these huge cases on them and it just does not look right to me. I used to go that route, but I just cannot stand the extra bulk of those things. This phone is fricken sharp looking imho so I will just risk it and hope I don't have to use the insurance.
I know...Right after I sent that to you I thought about how this is going to come back and bite me lmao...
I can tell you from experience the DInc holds up to drops much better than any iPhone. Many times my DInc took tumbles, the back popped off and battery slid across Wal-mart floors, but it kept on ticking. I don't have the same faith in the iPhone.
I bought a case. I'm thinking about getting one of those clear scratch-resistant things.
Oh believe me when I say I have been thinking about that. Dual glass is not a friend of the drop....

I have been watching this thread since Thursday morning and I finally decided to register. Hello all. 
My 3 iPhones I bought are on their way! 2 of them are in Cleveland, Ohio at a sorting facility and the other one is right down the road from me at a local UPS store, and yes, I am dying a little in inside just knowing my iPhone is only a few miles away.
As for cases, I bought screen protectors and a few VZW compatible cases on amazon @ $2 a piece. I figured they will do until I get up the gull to spend even more money on this baby:
