So I stopped into my local Verizon Wireless store. (Geez, could they make their retail process any more like running the gauntlet?)

Anyway, they gave me quite the song-and-dance about having to mail in my iPhone trade in, something about printing the shipping label, and getting a card back in two weeks after someone's looked it over, etc. How are people getting the $200 credit? Sounds nothing like you guys getting $200 off your phone in the stores.

FWIW, I ordered my iPhone 6 at VerizonWireless.com on the Edge plan, and haven't actually activated the phone yet.

Am I just being penalized for not buying at this particular store?

I'm pretty sure you can only do the trade in at the store when you buy in the store. At least for the $200 for your iphone promotion they're running. Also you are more or less correct about getting the $200 off phone price.

Yeah it's all done through the mail, not in store.

I got an iphone 6 plus but not in the color I was hoping for. Do you know if I can find one in spacy grey in a store before 14 days is up if they will let me exchange? I signed up for a new contract as a new customer.

Thanks!

I have been answering various Verizon questions that are strewn across this forum, so I thought I would make a thread for someone to ask a question and I'll answer it, just to help out the community. Obviously I will not disclose my position, but I am capable of providing fact driven answers to most questions! Also, if you have any Sprint related questions, I can help out as well.

Let's get started!

Can I trade in my 5c for the 6 if my5c is still under a 2 year contract? It doesn't say on their website?

Are you eligible to upgrade? Or just going with full price? The contract is essentially on the line and not the phone.

So yes I'm eligible for an upgrade...
But say I didn't want to use that upgrade and I'm saving it for another family member to use...cuz that's bassically what I want to do. Can I trade it in without using the upgrade and what would it cost or how would it work?

Basically here's why I don't want to use an upgrade...3 years ago another family member broke her phone (under same Verizon account thingy as me) and her line wasn't yet eligible for an upgrade but mine was. So she used mine to get a 4s. So I waited to get the a new phone until her line's contract was up (last December) and I got the 5c. So now my line has an upgrade (but it's kinda her upgrade since she got the phone 3 years ago using my lines upgrade) and her line doesn't have an upgrade till December next year (Cruz I used her upgrade) or at least that's when the 2 year contracts have expired...I totally never understand how the contracts and upgrades work...

Or what about I have 1 other family member on my plan and he has a 4s that he got in December.so his 2 year contract isn't up until December next year. Can he trade in his 4s now and get the 6 or does he have to pay extra?

Thanks for the help...I really do appreciate it since this phone stuff can get so confusing.

You can trade it in and buy the phone full price. Price would depend on the model you are going for. Typically 650 and up, minus 200 (or more) you would get for the trade in.

So say I did use my upgrade...I could just trade my 5c in and just pay $30 for the activation, no other fees??? And then I would get a new 2 year contract? Thanks so much for helping!

If they do the trade in on the spot then that's pretty much it. Well probably some taxes too.

My contract ends on 12/28, I am eligible to switch to Edge. The rep told me I would have to give my phone (iPhone5) in so I can switch and get the iPhone 6. Is that right? Online it doesn't say about me giving in my current phone.

Sounds like Early Edge where you have to give up your phone to become eligible. It can be any phone active on your line so you can perhaps activate some old feature/basic phone and turn that in basically.

Thank you! That is what the rep told me, but online it lets me upgrade early to edge without asking me to give in my device. Do you know why its different online?

At the store the rep is also giving me $100 credit for switching to Edge and online it does not. Do you know how I can get that discount online? Thanks

will I get 1gb bonus from verizon if I buy iphone6 from apple

Hi, in my area iphone6 is available for pickup today at a local applestore but I have to wait till Oct if I order it thru Verizon. However, verizon is offering 1gb bonus to the data plan if I order it thru Verzion. If I buy it at apple store, am I eligible to get the bonus as well?

I was wondering thee same thing too. I have a old Samsung charge that I would rather give away than my s3... Is that possible.? I've already pre-ordered the phone through edge though. Idk if that makes a difference or not.

I'd also would like to ask - just how closely do they check the phone you send in? In theory the existing phone is now deactivated so its not really on the account anymore. Also the package I got to ship with had more than one mailing label but nothing else besides instructions. I have to wonder how they are associating these things with the account to credit - never mind checking serial numbers or even what model of phone is in the shipping box.

When i get my new iPhone 6 plus, can I just take the sim card out of my iPhone 5C and put it in the new iPhone? Will verizon charge me for it?

Yes but you won't get VoLTE because the SIM will make the 6+ think it's still a 5c.... Friend tried to do that on Friday and had to get a new SIM. And they won't charge you.

Yes you can and should do that and why would Verizon charge you for it ?

Well, the iphone 5c is still on contract and I was going to pay an ETF fee to get the 6 plus. I'm just wondering if I really have to go pay that when I could just take the 5c sim card out and put it in my 6 plus.

Really because he told me that yesterday when he put his Sim in from his 5s. He couldn't get VoLTE when he put his old Sim in.

You can do edge... But you have to be eligible. You should call Verizon and check.
