I have an iPhone 4 with an unlimited data plan and I think it might be time to get a new phone finally. I was considering trading in my 4 for the $200 credit towards a 6. I would like to know if there is a way to keep my unlimited data besides paying full price for a new phone. We have 5 phones on the account and 3 have upgrades, including an upgrade on my line. Would I be able to use one of the other upgrades and somehow keep my unlimited data? Obviously my iPhone 4 has no SIM card so I can't just transfer that into the new phone.
Phones with account:
Regular phone
iPhone 5s with 2GB data
iPhone 4s with 2GB(available for upgrade)
Regular phone(available for upgrade)
Iphone 4 UD(upgrade available)

If anyone knows what I could do to keep unlimited data on my line without buying the phone for the full price I would appreciate any help! Would I just have to activate the phone on the other iphone line with an upgrade and then movie it?

Do you happen to know if we can enable VoLTE on concession accounts with eligible devices? Tried calling but was on hold for over 40 minutes before I gave up.

I don't see why not. Since a SIM swap allows VoLTE to work, there's not a code required on the account for it.

If you upgrade the iPhone 4S with the 2GB plan you can. Just do an alternate upgrade and you'll be able to keep the unlimited data.

Hi, my company added the advanced calling feature on my Verizon account, and when I try to turn on the Voice and Data it says to contact Verizon. I cannot call Verizon myself since we use a third party to manage the account who keeps telling me it's enabled. They have asked me to reboot the phone and I've even reset network settings but still no go. Any ideas what I can do at this point?

I would try chatting with Verizon online possibly.

Unfortunately, for a business account, Live Chat is not available. I guess this is one of the disadvantages of having your company pay your bill :/ I will try and continue to work with the third party and Verizon to get this sorted out.

I ordered a 6 plus through apple and they were supposed to transfer the upgrade from a basic phone to a smart phone line that didn't have a upgrade. The phone came and it wasn't transferred it was upgraded on the basic line. I called Verizon and they said no big deal we will just activate it and swap the phone to the other line. They did that and now none of the reps can delete the data Package off of the basic line because of the new policy. I have had reps try over and over that are stumped about getting it off. Anyone have any other options to fix this problem ? I don't want to give my phone up that I went thru so much trouble to get just because the transfer upgrade wasn't applied. Any help would be great. Thanks.

A data package is required on the line that signed a 2 year contract for the entire duration of said contract. There is no way to remove it if you upgrade a basic line to a smartphone then switch the smartphone off.

Right but I was told that if the apple rep had done the upgrade right and transferred it to the proper line and phone activated on that line then all that would have happened to the basic line was the contract being extended 2 years and no data required because technically the other line used the upgrade. Does that sound right ?

It does not. Only to new activations. Unless they did a new line, then canceled the old one, your rep was uninformed and I would recommend calling CS immediately. They can contact the store and apply the appropriate credit if you were, in fact, misinformed.

Thanks so much... I will call CS, my line is not a new line, it was on a family plan and I switched just that 1 line to Edge to get the iPhone 6 early. I was wondering why my account was not credited yet.

i have a VZW account with 1 contract line and 3 VZW edge lines. is it possible to switch the phone number on the contract line with one of the edge lines?

i know it can be accomplished through a simple sim swap but that also switches the agreement so the prior edge line becomes contract and vice versa.

i would just like switch the numbers and everything else remain status quo if that is possible?

note: all 4 lines are iphones - mixture of 5s and 6

No.

The policy changed on August 29th of this year, there's no way around it.

Imaketouchtheme - I have read your answer about doing an alternate upgrade in order to save Unlimited Data and what you say is exactly how I understood it would work. Just to make sure, I chatted with Verizon and spoke to Customer Service - even a supervisor. I chatted 4 times and called 3 times.

I know this looks like a repeat but please understand that I have been consistently given information from Verizon that disagrees with the information provided here. My goal is to keep UDP and I thought it would be easy!

Line 1 UDP Upgrade Availabe (LG Revolution yes - really)
Line 2 UDP Upgrade Available (Iphone 4)
Line 3 UDP Upgrade Available (Iphone 5)
Line 4 2GB No Ugrade (Iphone 4)

We really need upgrades on our UDP lines! If I transfer upgrade from line 2 to line 4 and upgrade line 4 Verizon tells me that line 2 will go to 2GB data because that is the contract being used. Line 4 gets new phone but contract is not extended and upgrade date not changed. I never even told them I was going to move the phone to line 2.

The irritating thing is that when I do the entire process, except checkout, online - it tells me I need a data package, then that the data package is already on line 4 so no change needed, then shows what I am getting - all for line 4, then checkout says all for line 4 as well - it does say the upgrade was transferred from line 2. No place ever tells me my data plan on line 2 is changing or asks what I want to change it to or anything yet Verizon insists that if I do what I want I will lose unlimited data on line 2. I got irritated with them and told them that they do not in any way say that in the online process or put it on the information at checkout. While they are very sorry and understand why I am upset, that is the way it is. They then proceeded to flag my account because I was asking questions - that does not sound promising either.

so - I know a lot has been written about how to do this transfer and upgrade to keep udp but has anyone actually done it in the last few weeks?

To add t the above - Verizon Customer Service Rep also said that this has been happening to customers and the first they know of it is when they get the notification that they are reaching their data limit. They are confused because they think they have unlimited. To bad. So Sad. No going back. Verizon doesn't care if they were not told that would happen, that is the way it is.

Saw a gold iPhone 6+ available for pickup and jumped.

Ordered it on Apple.com but did not use the line that I wanted to.

After I get the phone, is there anyway for me to switch lines with that?

I assume Verizon will let you do it or I could even do it myself by switching the SIM cards?

Please tell me I can switch the line.

One of my lines currently has a home connect device on it. I would like to swap that out to an iPhone however it will not let me put the order through on Apple.com. is there a way I can maybe add a dummy esn or something so I can do this?

You can't do an upgrade to a smartphone using that line. If it's out of contract, just call and cancel that line then add a new line. If you do Edge, you'll also get the extra $100 bill credit if you do it that way.

I went into the verizon store today to upgrade from my iPhone 4 and ran into some issues. I have unlimited data on my line with an upgrade available, as well as upgrades available on two other lines. I asked about all the ways of upgrading without losing unlimited on here and they said they couldn't do any of them. They offered me 6GB of data for the same price as unlimited. Do I need to order online or try a different store? I ended up just ordering the phone but it won't ship out for a month, is it too late to change my mind and keep my unlimited? I would rather just switch to 6GB than have to always buy phones for full price. I just don't want to change my data plan and then find out that it was possible to keep it by ordering online or at a different store.

I have 2 lines
1. Udp under contract iPhone 5s
2. Basic phone upgrade available

What are my options to get the iPhone 6 using basic phones upgrade to get new phone swapping it to line 1 and not having to have the data plan on line 2 and not loosing Udp? And I don't want to pay full price. Appreciate it!

Partner has an iphone 6+ on a 2 yr contract with verizon. If we buy an iphone 6 outright and activate it as a prepaid by the day or month (but not recurring - no monthly fees) - can her sim be switched out of 6+ and into 6 without being charged another regular $40 a month fee on a contact? She does not want two phone numbers - just wants to be able to use 6+ or 6 depending upon needs(there are reasons for this) and I am trying to keep her from trying to switch sims with my 6.

my question is, I'm using Edge for the first time (and feel so stupid for doing it).. Is it normal to be charged like $100 in taxes the first month? It seems like a lot.

Probably taxes on the phone itself.

Wait you were billed $100 in taxes?? I just started Edge too. $100 seems like its a lot. I looked on Best Buy and a iPhone 6 via edge was only $58 for taxes.

Hello, I had a pre-order for 6+ since 9/12. I have changed my mind and now going for 6. I called CSR last night and cancelled my pre-order. CSR told me that it takes 1-2 business days for the upgrade to be put back on to my line. Is this true? How soon can I walk into the store and get a subsidized phone?

Thank you.

When I cancelled my preorder, my line upgrade came back immediately.
