Looking for some advice here. I would like a Verizon plan that is low cost - $50 or less – and don’t need a huge data allowance.

I purchased a Verizon iPhone 6 Plus from the Apple Store outright (unlocked). I have been using it on the T-Mobile pre-paid plan with 100 min and 5GB of data for $30/month. My plan all along was to switch to Verizon at some point. After deciding to do just that I went into a Verizon Store, but walked out still on T-Mobile. I was open to either:
The pre-paid plan with unlimited call/text and 500MB of data (with the 500 MB bonus for setting up auto pay)
Or
The “loyalty” plan that was Unlimited call/text with 1GB of data for $50
After lots of discussion I was unable to get either of these. The pre-paid plan is not offered for the iPhone 6 (or even iPhone 5S apparently)?? The loyalty plan did not show in their system at all.
Any suggestions?

Verizon has a 2GB plan for $60, but if you bring your own phone or use Verizon Edge then the price lowers down to $50 a month.

Although in the FAQ it says you won't get the $10 per month discount if you're not on edge, they'll still let you get it when you go to a store and bring your own phone as long as you're not under contract.

Edit: If for some reason Verizon refuses to give you a $10 discount on 2GB plan for $60 when you bring your own phone, you could always get an Iphone 6 under contract and then sell it on Ebay. You'd pay $199 (not including tax and activation) total to purchase it, and you could sell it for at least $600. This way in a sense you'd be saving even more than $10 month, because if you make $300 from selling your phone, that's the same as saving $10 every month over 2 1/2 years.

Month to month discounts are only available on the More Everything Plan.

I have an iPhone 6 Plus coming soon that I ordered on one of the secondary lines on my account. The new phone will be used on my primary line (currently an iPhone 5S).

When I receive the new phone, I want to avoid activating it on the secondary line it was purchased on (and interrupting the service on that line), and instead activate it on my primary line.

Is this as easy as just taking the SIM from my 5S and putting it in the 6+ before turning on/activating? Or do I have to speak to a Verizon representative? If at all possible, I would like to avoid having to speak to customer service, as they always give me a hard time.

Thanks!

Yes, BEFORE turning it on, put in your SIM card.

Thanks for the Help Guys! I read almost this whole thread and have learned alot. I for one will never sign on to another contract. My question is that my buddy is on his own single line plan out of contract with VZW, he wants to upgrade his phone to an Iphone 6+ at full retail, port his number to it, move to my more everything plan and close his account. We can tripple our data from 10 to 30 gigs between three lines and save 75 bucks on line access and it would be cheaper for all of us. What would be the best way to do it? Buy the phone on his account and port the number or buy it on mine? he could get a new number if verizon has a problem with it but would rather not. Thanks

Question: Verizon is advertising $110 for 10gb of data, meaning their 80 for data promo and edge/byod discount of $25 off the $40 per line access fee (so 80+15+15) but they also have a picture showing the discount doesn't happen until you hit the 15gb (promo) level of $100 for data. Which is it? Is two lines 10gb of data (promo) $110 or $130?

I was wondering that myself, I was getting the the 25$ off of one of my lines out of contract with the 10 gigs for 100$ so when I seen they raised it to 15gigs for the same price I jumped on it. They probably raised the eligibility to 15gig for that promo. Their not going to loose money!

If they haven't changed that picture it's incorrect. They had another one that showed it like that too which got updated yesterday to the correct one, and the rest of the text across the site still references 10 GB--10 GB (even at it's cheaper price now) is still when the higher discount kicks in.

I have a Verizon question - right now I am contract free - I bought the iPhone 5 2 years ago for full retail price off contract and I am one of 6 phones in a More Everything Plan with 10 GB of data. I am currently getting the $25.00 a month credit for having an off contract phone.

Does it make more sense for me to buy my iPhone 6 at full retail price and stay off contract, or does it make more sense to join Verizon Edge? I will most likely keep the iPhone 6 for another 2 years because I try to stick to the 2 year upgrade cycle. Or does it make more sense to sign a 2 year contract and get the subsidized pricing if I am most likely going to stick with it for 2 years?

One more question - I know very little about Verizon Edge - to join the program from scratch, do I need to trade in an existing working phone? Or can I join the Verizon Edge program without any phone being traded in?

As long as you are out of contract on your old phone it is yours!

Where do you see the updated picture? I've looked everywhere on the site and even tho the text is updated to reflect the porting promo I still see 10 gb with $15 discount instead of $25

It's been updated on the desktop version of the web site at least, just not on the mobile site it seems.

Boy they like- to keep us confused!! :)

For my single phone I currently have the 2Gb Single line plan and that seems fine as long as I don't want to use the phone as a mobile hotspot, since that isn't supported on the single line plan.

But I keep thinking I want to change to the shared plan so I could use any/all my tablets and such anywhere I'm at. And that would mean increasing the data needs, maybe by quite a bit.

Looking at the site, it seems that with the way Edge and the discounts work a mobile share w/4Gb of data costs exactly the same as a mobile share with 10Gb of data. Unless I'm seeing things wrong, I can't think of a reason that one would take the 4 over the 10. Am I wrong?

Current bill is (without taxes and bogus fees)

2Gb Single Line = $60/month

Edge = $30/month

Edge Discount =-$10/month

Total: $80/month

New mobile share should be:

10 Gb = $80/month

Line Access=$40/month

Edge = $30/month

Edge Disc =-$25/month

Total: $125

Edge discount is now $15 a month for lower tiered data plans

Never mind I see that $10 discount was for your old bill. It'll still lower your old amount a little

Best plan for two new VZW lines?

I'm using Straight talk for me and my wife. Searching for the best service and best deal for us two.
I don't mind to pay full retail price.
What is the best plan to choose for us two?
We don't use that much of data or talk/text.

How long have you been a Verizon customer? I literally feel like I have the same 2GB single line plan as you but I get billed $75 for it before ******** fees and taxes.

I've been battling with vzw about it because the promo plan didn't give mobile hotspot. After emailing the ceo's office because I was being told that I would have to switch to a "More" plan to get that, they assured me the one you have has the feature, so now I'm switched to it and still have the $10/month loyalty discount.

They're happy and I'm happy!

I have been answering various Verizon questions that are strewn across this forum, so I thought I would make a thread for someone to ask a question and I'll answer it, just to help out the community. Obviously I will not disclose my position, but I am capable of providing fact driven answers to most questions! Also, if you have any Sprint related questions, I can help out as well.

Let's get started!

Thanks for this thread. Been reading thru, but still have questions.

I have one old dumb phone, and have been using an iPod touch on wifi for years. But both are dying, so its finally time to upgrade. I need to be on VZW for access reasons at work, and have been with them for years. I currently pay $45 a month for 300 mins talk and 250 texts - something I've never exceeded.

Looking at the single line plan with 1GB or 2GB of data, 64GB iPhone6, and debating going with the Edge option. Don't care about being on a 2-year contract as I don't switch carriers, and don't need early-upgrade options. Hopefully will keep this phone 3-4 years. Trying to figure out where else they'll bite me.

If I pay $300 upfront, it seems there's an activation fee ($35 ??), is it truly only $60 or 75 a month? Do I get to keep the phone at the end of the two-year period? What other fees will they hit me with (other than taxes and federally-mandated ones)?

If I go on Edge, I pay $31.25 a month for two years. But with Edge discount now $15 a month, its only really $16.25 a month. Total cost over 2 years is $390, which is only $90 more than the 2-yr contract option. And if I avoid paying the "activation fee", its only $55 more. What else is hidden? I saw "Plus Monthly Verizon Edge Device Fees" hidden in tiny print under a pricing table on the Verizon Edge page.

Looking at More Everything plans, it seems there's a monthly line access and a monthly account access charge. For a single line account, it would be $40 line access plus $40 account access for 1 GB. So this is $20 more than the "single line" plan - and the only benefit, it seems, is the wifi hotspot capability that I don't need. Is this correct, or am I missing something with the single line plan? The Single Line Plan FAQ page states "The $60/1 GB and the $75/2 GB smartphone single line plan is a promotional voice, text and data plan". Does this mean its only for a short period and then is going to rise dramatically (like cable/satellite TV bills)? If so, does anyone know what its going to rise to?

I care less about "upfront" or "ownership" costs than recurring monthly fees I'll never get rid of.

Thanks

The current Single Line plans include the mobile hotspot WiFi capability, so for a person only needing a single line, there is no real downside. IOW, from a use standpoint the only difference between Mobile share and single line plans is the approximate $30 penalty if you get it!

And as to the promotional deal, that just means that you have to get it while it is offered but will carry on even if they do away with it. Very slight chance that will happen as most other carriers are offering some sort of single line plan.

So if you get the single line plan and do EDGE for the phone itself, the cost is either $60 for the 2Gb plan because of the EDGE discount.

In my case I have the 2Gb Single Line plan and an iPhone 6+ on EDGE so my total bill is about $90 or a little over plus the 'because we can' fees that are tacked on for all plans.

You cannot use the hotspot on the single line plan. It's only promotional in the sense they can stop offering it at any time, but once you signup, you'll have it until you change.

The activation fee for upgrades is only $30.

Yes, you do own the phones at the end of the Edge program or 2-year contract. If you do a two year, you total bill (depending on state) will run about $67 a month. The only up front you pay on Edge is taxes on the retail price of the phone.

OK - this is starting to sound good. Thanks.

I currently have ~$6 of federal surcharges, admin surcharges (?!!?), and sales tax on my $40 VZW bill. Sounds like there will be nothing more than the same with the $60 single-line 2GB plan.

So, with Edge, only upfront is Sales tax on the $750 retail price for the phone ($38), and $31.25 - 15 added on the $67 monthly bill for 2 years; while without Edge, it will be $300 for the phone, $38 sales tax, and $30 activation fee; then the monthly bill of $67. Correct?

Thanks again

Hi.
back when the iphone 6's came out I switched to the more everything plan, I started on the 4 gig but found out I got 1 gig extra for the activation of a new phone, I purchased 2 new iphones one a 6 and the other a 6 plus, so I had 4 gig plan and 2 gig extra for 2 years (6 gig total).

I noticed I never went over 3 gig so I dropped my plan to the 2 gig (plus I still have my 2 gig extra for 2 years) to 4 gig total.

A week and a half ago verizon called me and asked to up my 2 gig plan to 4 gig for free and no loss of any other promotion or discount, so I did.

I checked my account and I now have 4 gig for $50 a month and still my 2 gig free for 2 years.

I have no idea how anyone can get on it without them calling, if I look at my account and go to plan change I see my plan I am on and the 2 gig a month for the same price, I thought it was for everyone but apparently not. Now I can tether without worry of going over.

I am just putting this out there, I certainly don't know how anyone can get on it without them calling you. Best of luck.
