Hello, I had a pre-order for 6+ since 9/12. I have changed my mind and now going for 6. I called CSR last night and cancelled my pre-order. CSR told me that it takes 1-2 business days for the upgrade to be put back on to my line. Is this true? How soon can I walk into the store and get a subsidized phone?

Thank you.

Sometimes. Just call back and tell them you want a phone now, and they'll be able to push it through immediately.

Is Edge available on the Vzw Max plan?

I had a Web chat and the person said it wasn't. Yet, when Maxx came out you had to sign up for Edge.

The worth of doing it or not depends on the plan each customer has. We're on a 550 shared minute plan with 250 texts each. I have unlimited and the wife has the Vzw Max plan.

Trying to see which plan is cheaper for us over the long term. Time to work out the math via spreadsheets.

And I completely realize that. That's why I said "not worth doing". I wasn't saying Edge isn't worth doing, I mean Edge isn't worth doing for you. You will only receive a $10 discount over 20 months, therefore the cost of the device is subsidized by $200, which brings it to $450 for a 6. A 2-year contract is subsidized by $450...

3 phones On 10 GB More everything plan, just received 16gb iphone 6 plus on the Edge plan, 16gb isn't enough room for the family power user. Would like to know if it is possible to order a 128 gb iphone 6 plus also on the Edge plan but switch devices so that the person with the 16gb device can use the 128gb phone and another family member can use the 16gb device?

Would the 128gb device need to be activated on the number assigned to it or can SIM cards just be swapped before turning on the new phone? Thanks for your assistance:)

I see there is edge discounts for the more everything plans. Are there any such discounts for the Vzw Max plan.?

My debate
I have unlimited data single plan.
Unlimited Text, Talk, and Data run about $135 with taxes. VZW is planning to throttle around 5GB.

VZW is offering Unlimited Text and Talk and 2GB Data for $60. Each additional GB is $15. At price of old plan with overage charges, I could use up to 6GB data on new plan for about the same cost; other months it would be lower.

I use about 1GB per month on iPhone 4.

Do I switch and just pay overages if I start to use more data on LTE?

It's hard to let go of the idea of having an unlimited plan...but is it with the extra $75/mo compared to the 2GB plan if you're only using 1GB/mo now. Unless you change your typical useage radically and obviously more than double or triple your data useage, why not go with the new, cheaper plan?

I walked in a apple store today and used the upgrade eligibility on my wife's max 8gb plan that didn't have a upgrade and she got a new 6 plus. The new phone was active on her number when I walked out of the store and only her planned changed because they didn't have the maxx plan to offer thru apple anymore. Called verizon when I left and her maxx plan was restored like it had never been changed. All it did was take my upgrade and lock me unlimited line back in for another 2 years. Didn't touch the plan because my line didn't get the upgrade. The key was having a another smart phone line that wasn't eligible for a upgrade so that you have a line to give it to.

That's what I was also thinking.

As an aside, I just (3 days ago) put my wife and daughter on the $60/2GB plan, but now I am considering just paying the ETF and taking our whole family over to AT&T. Verizon iPhones should work on AT&T AND they are offering double data for family share plans. I am considering the 15GB plan which doubles to 30GB and would be about the same price (~$200/month). Good idea?

It would be about the same cost, but only because you're out of contract. As soon as you upgrade again in the future, it'll go back up.

New More Everything Plan

Ok, so this plan from VZW is at least interesting. Here is my question: when does the consumer lose this plan? when the data is changed? when upgrading to a new phone with upgrade/subsidized pricing?

If the consumer were able to keep this plan and keep upgrading, I might think about switching to this plan, but I am doubtful.

You are able to keep that plan while upgrading. Unlimited is the only plan you can't keep while upgrading.

I talked to a VZW rep via chat and she said the $60 plan was only good for 1 year. It took her a while to even find the plan so I don't know how valid the claim is, but it seems likely.

Not correct. The current single line plan does not have an expiration date. The 2GB Loyalty Plan with a $10 / 1GB overage does have a 1 year expiration date, however.

The chat support online is outsourced so you sometimes get conflicting information from them.

What are your thoughts?

I have four Verizon UDP lines (iPhone 4) and have an order (expected ship date of October 24th) for four new iPhone 6 Plus's that will cost me about $3,500 to buy the phones outright. I called Verizon and if I go to a contract with the new promotion of 30GB of data for $130, it will increase my bill by about $35 per month, or about $277 per month total. The subsidized phones on contract will cost me about $1,800. That gives me about $1,700 in savings between no contact and contract pricing. That $1,700 will cover the cost of the plan increase for about 51 months. I can sell my four iPhone 4's for about $500, which also reduces my overall costs. My phones are not scheduled to arrive until the end of the month, so I may miss out on the $200 trade-in value. I just saw that Verizon will not throttle my lines, but the cost savings may make me jump ship. We are only using about 2GB of data right now, but expect to use a lot more on LTE, and we will add a new iPad Air in the coming months. Adding an individual new line for the iPad is $30 for 2GB and adding it to a contract More Everything Plan is only $10, and can share the 30GB. I have a seven year old who streams NetFlix and Hulu a lot while we are out and about.

I am still using iPhone 4's with 3G and of course they do not have SIM cards that I can swap into the 6 Plus's. I thought about trying Best Buy and having them shipped to me, but no SIM cards to activate to keep the UDP's.

I would be interested in what you thought about this situation?

Only you can decide what action to go. I too spent a lot if time with spreadsheets seeing which plans would save me the most.

Ultimately, my UDP will cost more overall, knowing I don't have to watch my data usage makes it worth it to me.

I'm planning on getting the 30GB More Everything plan for $130. Getting a corporate discount of 20% so that will be $104. Lines will be

Line 1 - iPhone6 16GB on EDGE plan, line access fee should be $40-$25(discount on EDGE) plus $32.70 installment for 20mos

Line 2 - iPhone6 16GB on EDGE plan, line access fee should be $40-$25(discount on EDGE) plus $32.70 installment for 20mos

Line 3 - BYOD, line access fee is $40, but should I get a discount for this? How much? I've read somewhere if it's a 10GB and up, discount is $25, is this correct?

Also, I have trade-ins, can those be applied for Lines 1 and 2 on EDGE installment?

Can Verizon just change the data allotment anytime on these More everything plans?

BYOD discount is the same one that is for EDGE, to in this case would be $25/month off.

Trade-ins can be applied if you are trading them in and getting a new iPhone (on contract, on EDGE, or just purchasing it for full price).

Verizon can offer different data amounts at different prices, but they generally won't just change the particular tier that you are at just like that.

Ok copy. So what I laid out was pretty accurate then. Good to hear that.

Now the plan changes I was asking, sorry if I wasn't that clear... Let's say for example, if I get new phones after the 20-month installment, will Verizon force me to change my More Everything Data Plan? Or I can just keep it for as long as I want?

That depends on how you get the phones and if Verizon would require some sort of a plan change at that time to get the phones like that--for example, for those on unlimited data plans if they want to get a discounted contract phone or possibly even Edge phone they would need to change to one of the current More plans. Typically it's not something that's required, but it could be (like in that unlimited data case).

Pretty clear now. I can understand with the unlimited as carriers really want these unlimited data plans to be gone, but what are the chances though of Verizon bringing down your data allotment if you buy a new phone on EDGE when you're done with the previous one?

The chances are quite low (but not exactly zero).

I have a question, I have 3 phones on the more everything Talk Text 4GB plan. I ordered an iPhone 6 and received it on launch date. I did renew for another 2 year contract and I was told I would get an extra 1GB of data for the next two years. My account is still only showing 4GB of data on the plan.

What's weird is when I go into my account and look at my iphone 6 it says the line is available to upgrade today and I can order a new phone for $199. The other two lines still have the correct upgrade dates listed as next year so it's no as though the upgrade was applied to the wrong line. Could this be holding up the extra 1GB of data? I called CS today and they told me they would look into it while they put me on hold. Of course after 10 minutes I was disconnected. Any idea what I can do to get the 1GB of data?
