So tired of this non-story!

The iPhone is not coming to Verizon.
...
Beyond the technology limitations of the Verizon's network, Apple will not go their out of pure spite.

Don't be surprised to see the iPhone on the other networks, just to rub it in Verizon's face.

That's the most ridiculous comment I've read yet. Apple makes decisions based on whether they will improve the bottom line and their position for markets. Spite?

I would rather see one on Sprints network. Giving an IPhone to Verizon is like Steve jobs putting flash on the iphone after he has trash it.

1-Apple would have their heads out their a$$ and make more money.
2- The "know it alls" on macrumors can then shove their heads up their own a$$ for saying it will never happen.

heh! he said a$$ !!

On a more serious note, how exactly would things unfold for current ATT users who might want to switch to Verizon? Say for someone who's got a year left on their contract?

November?

Hey, we're all waiting to see the capabilities of this new iPhone but if it comes out next month and indeed will be available thru verizon in November, then I sure hope Stevo let's us know! I'll be pissed to sign a 2 year contract with AT&T if there's a future option only months away. Better mention this on stage Steve.

This would be great news if true. Hopefully in time AT&T's service will improve without then having to bear the sole burden of the iPhone.

The iPhone is not coming to Verizon.

When Apple originally approached Verizon before the iPhone launch, the CEO of Verizon told Steve Jobs and Apple to take a hike.

Cingular (now rebranded as AT&T, but really has nothing to do with the "old" AT&T) took a gamble and it paid off.

Over three years later we're still talking about the iPhone.

I'm also tired of another non-story that won't go away.

Macs will never run on Intel chips.

Could you imagine it? After all the advertising Apple has done insulting Intel chips and showing how fast and efficient the PPC is by comparison, it will never happen.

Even if Intel chips improved, Apple will not go there out of pure spite.

Don't be surprised to see Macs running on AMD chips, just to rub it in Intel's face.

This technology, that technology, who cares? Can you actually use your phone? Can you afford it? Are you paying a fair amount for the use you get?

Apple, AT&T, the Big V, etc are not on our side. They are on their side. The shilling is inevitable, but still annoying.

The only potential salvation for us consumers is competition and hopefully new technology that makes it possible to have more than a handful of carriers.

Here's a thought.

Showing how well the iPhone has done (untouched by AT&T) without out any extra programs demanded by the carrier to be added, it has exceded expections. Verizon has seen this so the iPhone will not have any extras as demaned by Verizon.

Look at the Droids, there is not any Verizon software installed on these phones. The software can be added if wanted by the user.

The iPhone will fly high on Verizon and it will not have any extra software.

I bet you were one of those who said that Apple would NEVER switch to Intel. And considering how old the rumor was for Apple to bring a phone to the market to begin with, I bet you were also one of them who stated they'd never bring a phone out.

If Apple sees a benefit to bringing the iPhone to Verizon, you better believe they'd do it. What Verizon did was purely business practices of the time. Back then, the manufacture didn't control what went into the phone, the network did. Things are much different thanks to Apple. Verizon clearly wants the phone now, it is just whether or not Apple can get what they want to allow it on their network (i.e. control over every aspect of the phone).

The iPhone will be on Verizon, one day. It would be absolutely stupid for Apple to continue to only allow AT&T to sell it. AT&T is the worst network, period. The Android is exploding in the market and will continue to do so. Apple only has one choice and that is to bring the iPhone to Verizon and Sprint.

LTE is still at least a year to two years away from being a major factor in this. Apple could bring out a CDMA iPhone just in time for the Christmas season and then bring a LTE iPhone some time next year when it is in a better position to sell. LTE phones are pointless right now, especially in non-major markets (i.e. 90% of the country).

;) I don't believe AT&T is the worse network at all. Actually I think as of right now i think that Verizon and T-Mobile has the worst network and AT&T and Sprint are the only people trying to make Improvements on their network.

Sounds to me like a good rumor for Verizon to float just to keep people from jumping ship to the new iPhone.

They just like to keep that carrot of an iPhone coming to Verizon right in front of their subscribers. Don't switch now -- it'll be any day now....later this year...just a few more months...

DING! DING! DING! We have a winner!

lol it might only be me, but I kinda don't want the iphone to go to verizon or any other carrier.

already a lot of ppl have the iphone, if it goes to other carriers EVERYONE is going to have one and it won't seem so special haha.

peace :apple:

Just like switching normally - you pay your ETF and port your number .....

it is for this reason alone Apple WILL NOT announce a Verizon iPhone this summer...announcing the iphone on any other US carrier would potentially prevent people from buying an AT&T iPhone....my theory on multi US carriers has changed...I think Sprint and Tmobile will get iPhones before Verizon does...because Verizon and Google are partners on the Google Tablet

I think these "analysts" saw that AT&T upped their termination fee and said "Let's predict that Verizon is getting the iPhone since AT&T is trying to protect their subscriber base." In all honestly, I see it coming for Sprint, more likely than not. Jobs takes jabs at his company very seriously. The Island of Misfit Toys ad must have really pissed him off.

As far as Verizon being superior and having greater coverage...I don't see it. I am in New York City and every service provider has dead spots. Verizon was the second to worst behind T-Mobile. Sprint never dropped a call. I always found it funny AT&T advertised least dropped calls when I have never had so many dropped call before I got the iPhone. However, those I have spoken to Blackberrys and other types of phones, do not have the dropped call issue. This might simply be a limitation of a relatively new cellular phone maker. Stress on the Verizon network will yield the same results as it did with the AT&T network.

Also, Verizon always had a coverage advantage due to access of their old analog system working with the digital system. AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile did not have that advantage. Service is spotty when you see the 1x pop up, a lot, on Verizon phones.

Please note, I don't care if it goes to Verizon. Then the iPhone plans may be a bit more competitive. My "everything plan" for two iPhones is $250.00 after tax. If I didn't have the advantage of expensing off my law office, I would be thinking twice about it. I think, given the amount of data used by iPhone users, Verizon will screw their customers with a tiered data plan.

Some people say its not going to happen so they can justify their purchase and contract with AT&T. I simply think it is not going to happen for a myriad of other reasons.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I remember that ad actually complimented the iPhone but bashed AT&T.

No sir that won't fly....Verizon bashed Apple by calling the iPhone a "tiara wearing, digitally clueless beauty queen"...."is it a precious porcelain figurine of a phone?"....and how about the iDon't ads?

as a verizon customer, i have held off the last three years from switching to att to get the iphone. I think all I really want to hear at this point is a yes or a no. Even if they say they will be getting it in november, I will wait, but if we are told it isnt happening in the next year at least, I will go for att

anyways my area (So. Illinois) is heavily verizon, and att is about to launch 3G here so maybe att will work well since no one will be on it really :p

Long time viewer, first time poster,
I little bird told me that the iPhone will not be coming out to Verizon this year (but then again who really does know?)
But the so called "analysis" of it are entertaining :)
And I think you all hit the nail on the head....Who does still care?

what does that have to do with the iPhone? everyone wants the carriers to be dumb pipes and to have every device, but the same people think that they should play favorites as well.

How about no more reports on a rumor until it is officially announced! This is getting ridiculous.

it has a lot to do with the iPhone....Apple and AT&T are partners with an exclusive contract....why wouldn't you want your partner to do well? especially since they're selling your product would you want them to fail?

I've got a question for all of you who are against the iPhone coming to other carriers.

Honestly, why do you guys care if other carriers have the iPhone? Does it really effect you or cause you to lose sleep if T-Mobile, Verizon, or Sprint had the iPhone?

I guess AT&T customers won't feel cool anymore if iPhone is no longer exclusive to their carrier.
