Well I think the 150MB plan is still there right now. What you can do is just switch your plans if you don't need em, and hope that they let you keep it like that.

For those who were planning on getting a iPhone with 150MB, maybe you should just pick out another smartphone and sell that, then buy the iPhone at a higher rate. Hopefully they'll let you grandfather that plan.

I'm getting sick of all these carriers screwing with the plans. I'm hoping AT&T doesn't drop their $15 plan.

This is extremely upsetting. We have a family plan with 4 smartphone lines on it--3 blackberries and my droid, just this month I took a look at the usage and found that the 3 blackberries were tops hitting 40mb a month, with my mother using 4mb (!!) thus far this month! They don't need an unlimited plan--paying for it is robbery, and so I was excited when they tiered it and it amounted to savings of $530 a year by ditching the useless unlimited plans for blackberries when it's so clunky and user-unfriendly to bother using the internet on those devices. I use about 500mb and wish they had even more tiers...so when I get the iPhone next month I'll still be on the $30 plan...but they better grandfather these lower plans and not force the upgrade to unlimited to those who don't want it!

They will without a doubt grandfather in those plans. I'm pretty surprised, it seems like a very bad move on Verizons part. Didn't AT&T get a rush of new subscribers after they introduced the tiered pricing options? One would assume Verizon would be better off with a 150/500MB and unlimited data plan or something similar. Anyways, if they were to change your plans, they would have to forfeit your contract. You'd be free to move to any other carrier without penalty and keep your phones to sell. Not too bad of a deal.

They would only drop it for new customers. You would be grandfathered in.

Ah, the beauty of the free market. I don't see why people are mad, just go to AT&T if they have a rate plan that better fits your needs. It's not the end of the world, it's just a phone.

AT&T service might suck where one might live.
Thankfully service is excellent where I am. I'm just hoping that they dont follow Verizon and only offer one plan.

For me, it's a bitch to find wifi. I don't hang out at Starbucks or McDonald's. At work, I'm too busy to use wifi on my phone. Thank goodness for unlimited and that AT&T is good in Dallas.
Most people I know use wifi because you can get wifi in alot of places.

Same here, but I still don't end up using that much data anyways.

To busy to use wifi? You could have your phone on wifi in less time than it took you to write that comment.

LOL an iphone is data heavy phone why would you get a 150 mb plan?
What would you do with only 150mb?

It's only data-heavy if you make it so. Seriously, if you use it to download just a crapload of news stories and photos, you won't top 150MB. How do I know? My mom has one. Unless you use it for streaming audio or video, 150MB per month is plenty.

+1

I average under 100mb of data a month and the $15 plan is great. Having unlimited would be nice and I had the option to be grandfathered into that when I upgraded to the iP4 from the original iPhone. For me, it saves me $15 a month for something I never really used much.

Basically it saves you money every month especially if you use WiFi most of the time anyway.

Solution: Switch to AT&T. Cheaper, faster, better.

Another AT&T troll back from the days when iPhone was AT&T only...havent people told you not to drink the kool-aid?

Cheaper: Verizon forcing customers into $30 data plans.

Faster: AT&T has faster data network.

Better: AT&T can talk and use data at same time.

What part of "Cheaper, Faster, Better" didn't you understand? Here.. have a cup of Kool-Aid, it tastes great! :D

I didnt say I agree with the $30 data plan or believe me I would have a smartphone already...I dont need to talk and use data at the same time, cant you just get off the phone?? seriously...and how fast do you really need? Its not like your downloading blu-ray movies...

You can talk on your blutooth or apple headset while doing anything else with your phone. It's actually very handy. Look up maps, directions, look up something quick on the web.

Why would they? This gives them an edge over verizon for certain people (those who don't need that much data, they have a better plan).

People like my mom who I probably couldn't convince to get an iphone if she had to pay 30 dollars extra (but 15 extra was no big deal). She likes her phone (as it is easy to use) and probably doesn't use it near to its fullest and has no need of a huge data plan.

Better eh? Theres a map for that ;)

You'd likely forget and incur high overage charges.

I've been with both AT&T as well as Verizon concurrently for years. The iPhone lovers that hate AT&T and move to Verizon are in for the slap of reality. They are cell phone carriers people...

Fasten your seat belt :)

And I bet you got that map from a Verizon site right?

I say to each his own. You couldn't pay me to go back to Verizon but I've been happy with AT&T in the DC Metro area...

Ok each one has advantages/disadvantages, AT&T sucks here so I will be getting Verizon and also im still on my parents plan. Im sure Verizon sucks in places so more power to you to get AT&T.
