Remember edge? No voice and data

The worst part about no voice and data was that if you were accessing the Internet, your calls would go straight to voicemail. That supersucked.

I agree. I have one particular example where I was in DC on the GW parkway and my wife was back home in Ohio. She needed help with directions and a hotel rental. I pulled the car to the side of the road and from my iPhone I was on the call with her while making a hotel reservation and then giving her directions to the hotel.

I think more people use the voice and data at the same time then we really know.

But NOT to play a game to pass the time while we're talking to someone...No! We would never do that!! We always pay FULL ATTENTION to the other party! Man, there must be a 7-letter word in this rack...Wait! No! I'm not doing that!

I'm pretty sure this has been changed for a while now - calls are prioritized so if you're browsing the net the call will still come through.

Then that is not unlimited then.. It dose not matter how they definition unlimited.. If there is a cap or a limit then it is not unlimited.. Here we call that fault advertisement and breaking the law.. So you can sue for fault advertisement..
you mean false?
You meant to capitalize your sentence?

Don't be a jerk. If you've got a problem with something a person wrote, discuss what they wrote, and keep your snide language denigration to yourself. There may be lazy people out there who can't be bothered to learn their language or present it properly, but there are also people who are learning it as a second (or even third) language, and may be struggling with its grammar, spelling, and punctuation, not to mention the structure and elements of a new culture and society.

So after this is all said and done can we all just get along and revel in the fact that the number of iPhone users will double and this will only make things better for ALL of us iPhone users.

I'd rather users of the AT&T and Verizon iPhone got along and helped each other out. I hope this forum doesn't become split into two factions, the AT&T iPhone camp and the Verizon iPhone camp.

Why and who really uses both Voice and data at the same time?.. I have never use it and I see it as being rude if you are checking your email or looking at some thing that has nothing to do with the person you are talking to..

I use it all the time...i.e Google Maps and on the phone, checking email and on the phone.

Once Verizon's LTE network is stable and Apple releases an iPhone LTE, then that will be the down fall of ATT. I can't stand how ATT is saying "The iPhone was built for speed, you don't get that on Verizon, blah blah blah." In the long run the iPhone will be more superior on Verizon some day.

Honestly... we'll have to see. I have AT&T and a Verizon account. Verizon has it's flaws too. None of these companies are perfect. I've had more problems with Verizon than AT&T. But It's all where you live and the luck of the draw when you call in and talk to customer service.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

It will be announced today, but will be available only in jun with a new iPhone release. Remember my words...

Voice and Data

Really? Because Verizon been having unlimited date for smart phones for years.. Just because they get the iPhone that will not change....

It's not rude when you are discussing something with a client and they send an email and you can pull it up immediately and see it and continue your conversation at the same time. Or when your trying to find a location on the google maps app and talking to the person you are trying to meet.

I think that people use the feature more than they know, but since it is all part of what you have come to expect, they do not realize how much they use it. I too thought I did not use it a ton, but after I thought about it, I think it is a great feature, and enough to keep me on AT&T

Should be interesting to see if Verizon makes adjustments to their network in order to match these features.

AT&T seems mad. . . and preparing for tomorrow. Lol

http://twitter.com/ATT

Am I the only one staying with AT&T?

Might be. I am sick of dropped calls and no bars in certain parts of my city and other cities I travel to. All my friends with Verizon rarely have dropped calls. AT&T is like Windows - buggy and unreliable.

I haven't even come close to my 2GB limit. "Unlimited Data" seems like more of a marketing tactic to me.

If not for unlimited, I would have a $900 USD plus phone bill every month.

Bad for AT&T = me :)

They are the biggest bunch of liars I've ever seen.

Amen! I agree.

AT&T should have gone out of business years ago. I blame Apple for giving them an extremely undeserved and unprecedented growth and profits.

I think the iPhone is the best smartphone on the market, but I am glad Apple has lost market share to Android. Apple deserves losing market share to Android due to the fact that Apple greedily made AT&T its exclusive US carrier while Android was open to every carrier.

Calls always have priority on the Verizon CDMA network. If you are downloading a file and a call comes in the download will pause and you can talk. The minute you hang up the download will resume. You can also access anything you want on the phone except for updating the data.

I understand for some people having voice and data at the same time is more important then call reliability. I guess you will just have to weigh your options and pick the best carrier for you.

Really? Doesn't cost a thing? I guess there's no hardware/software/personnel...

The hardware/software/personnel is already built for the voice and data network. SMS takes up virtually no bandwidth. It _is_ pure profit, and back in the day, they were in fact free to send and receive for that very reason.

I’ve used Verizon, ATT, Cingular, ATT, T-mobile phones and now with an iPhone back on ATT.
Every phone I’ve had has had trouble with calls or keeping them. However the iPhone, so far, has had the best reception.

Maybe it is me blocking the calls on every networked phone, who knows.

The one thing I hope from this possible VeriPhone is competitive rates to ATT customers. Allow unlimited/tethering/cheaper rates to those on the network and perhaps some ship jumpers will stay aboard the ATT ship. Personally I don’t use anywhere near close to the 2GB I have each month. I have WiFi at home and at work am not on 3G enough to warrant unlimited. I have sued Data/Voice combos when searching for info, maps, etc in the same manner as the phone call and at times when the phone call is more “what’s going on?” type call, I can scroll through facebook too and still have a conversation.

I would expect that if you're connected to a wifi network while on a Verizon connection you could still do data and the call at the same time since they aren't using the same network.

Please let it happen

so people will switch and then relieve ATT so the ones that don't switch, like me will get better service. It's not like I don't get bad service with ATT now it's more like verizon with the "hear me now" ads for me I can say no I don't hear you as verizon is about a mile away from where I live.

Definitely true. I've had the worse experiences with Cingular/ATT and I've had the best coverage/customer service with Verizon up in Boston. Definitely depends on where you live and how lucky you can be.
