The availability of an unlimited data plan will definitely be the deciding factor for some, but personally I'm not bothered by the voice/data thing; I can count on one hand the number of times I've needed to talk/surf simultaneously over the past three years....

Still, it's a very good thing.

Everyone uses different features in different ways. You asked who and why..

And who ever said I was driving? I said I give addresses and phone numbers to the person I am talking to...

And, in Texas, they only limit texting while driving to drivers under 17 and everyone driving in a school zone. ;)

Every single day, I get a call from someone at work who has just sent me an email and wants to discuss it. I can't imagine having to say "Let me download it then I'll call you back".

On personal calls, I can't imagine not being able to do something like look up show times for a movie or any of the tons of other things I do. I don't think most iPhone users realize how much they use the feature. They'll notice when it's not there.

This single issue will keep me on AT&T until Verizon has a solution. Previously in forums, multiple posters have claimed their network can do it, there's just some new CDMA chip you have to use that no one has used yet. The summary of this story makes it sound like it's the network again. Who is right?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

I'm betting we'll see a white iPhone 4!!!

I couldn't imagine Jobs, or any other executives at apple NOT using an iPhone. It truly is the best smartphone ever, even outside of the obvious reasons why they'd carry one.

You know, I think this is why Microsoft can't make a decent phone. SJ uses the iPhone, if it sucks for us it sucks for SJ so you know it matters to him whether or not the phone is good or not. Using his own phone also helps SJ to come up with ideas on how to make it better.

I don't think Steve Ballmer ever owned a Microsoft Kin before it was killed. From what I've read I don't think Ballmer even saw the thing before it was released.

Ballmer probably uses a Blackberry and delegates all phone development to someone else. If Ballmer had to use the Microsoft phone as his own than it probably would have been significantly better.

I take comfort in knowing that Apple and I want the same thing, the best possible experience from the electronic world. Easy decision to make really.

There are two solutions. One involves just a chip in the device (SVDO). The other involves network changes and software on the device (VoRA).

It remains to be seen how Apple and VZW plan on addressing this.

I'm pretty sure Verizon would be in a heap of **** if this wasn't about the iPhone. They would have been total dumbasses to not stop this speculation at this point in the game if it was something totally unrelated.

I totally agree. And from your point, it's certain the Verizon iPhone will be released! NOW, wouldn't it be even funnier if Apple only gives them the 3Gs? I doubt it though. I'm excited. I wish I was into stock, cause I'm sure Apple's will go up quite a bit when they start selling 3x more iPhones!

wow, I am constantly checking movie times while talking to friend or fam and it was NIH considered rude, but a blessing-Id never give that feature up, no way!

I guess all the "I don't want an iPhone because I hate AT&T, but I have this Droid which is just LIKE an iPhone" haters are going to have to change their game now. :D

another reason Texas should secede from the union!

Humm... although SJ strikes me as the type of CEO that does come up with feature requests, most CEO's including SJ focus on bigger picture items. Where SJ is brilliant is in his vision and being able to recognize what consumers want.

I know in past large companies as a project manager we'd have a product line review and have to present our latest developments to the executives. This is where our CEO mostly had his chance to comment and give direction. I can't imagine the pressure of being a Apple Project Manager. It must be beyond intense.

I agree with this plan!

Not sure if this is true, but my local morning news said Verizon will only get the 3GS not the iP4?!?

I think you could do with travelling more, there are plenty of isolated regions across Europe, from Scotland and cornwall through the French countryside, Russia and beyond. There is more 3G coverage, more full hd television broadcasting and faster broadband than in the us. The USA is falling behind because of your telco companies and government restriction. There's no arguing with that.

Sure there are isolated regions all over. However, on an aggregate, there is a lower population density in the US than in Europe. Can't say much about Russia, since its mostly in Asia.

Really - how much better is one then the other? I'm finding to hard to compare the 3G (and now 4G) coverage of ATT, Verizon and Sprint with that of Orange, O2, Vodafone and SFK. There is so much overlap, I can't say one area is better than the other in coverage.

I'm going to laugh if they announce NOTHING about the iPhone.. and just talk about LTE.

iPhone is expected.. so I'm sure they will talk about it. But it would be funny. hha.

Has the ATT exclusivity ended? I thought it was five years, which would be end of June. If that is the case, I cannot see Apple letter VZ announce that the phone will be available in June....it may halt sales of the phone on ATT for several months...

If Only...

The only reason I'm excited at all about VZW getting the iPhone is that it will force ATT to stop acting like the maniacal bullies with their customers (me). With some stiff competition in their once exclusive market, hopefully ATT will be forced to revisit their ABSOLUTELY ABSURD fees. I seriously doubt anything will actually change, cause VZW wants their money just as badly as ATT......but a man can hope.

PS. Seriously, ATT. I pay you $30 a month for supposedly unlimited data. The last time I checked, SMS messages went across your network as, oh I don't know.....DATA!!!:confused: You're a bunch of criminals to charge me an extra $20 a month for just SMS. Someone should haul you all to jail.
