Been confirmed they will NOT!

Who confirmed this>? I had an order with verizon with deliver in October. Since I found stock for an iPhone 7 plus I called them and asked if I would still get the credit on the trade in if I cancelled the order and purchased the phone from the Apple store. They said yes. In addition to confirm that I would get the etra 2GB of data on my account.

Can I buy the iPhone 7 from an Apple store and still take advantage of the Verizon $650 promotion?

No. The promotion specifically states that the two qualifiers are
  1. Buy an iPhone 7 from Verizon Buy an iPhone 7 NOT from Apple (apparently VZW will still honor this through most other venues)
  2. Trade in your old iPhone to Verizon.
By the way, why would Verizon give you $650 in 24 monthly credits if you aren't buying the phone from them?

Not sure why but iPhone 7 purchases from Best Buy, Costco, and Sam's Club are eligible for the $650 credits.

Anyone else confirm?

I have a late delivery date with Verizon while my Apple Store has stock come and go daily.. I'd rather just cancel my Verizon order and get it from the Apple Store.

I chatted with a Verizon rep, and they said I can't get it from the Apple Store if I want to take advantage of the $650 trade in promo. But they also said I can't buy it from Costco or Sams Club - which is definitely not correct. ...so I can't take their word for it.

So it's confirmed that it must be purchased from Verizon or a Verizon authorized reseller, is this correct?
Also a few of the pictures in this post shows that the promotion ends September 30. Does this also mean that you must order/pre-order by September 30?

I've already shipped off my old device, but I forgot to put the customer receipt in there. Does anyone know if they'll decline my trade in? I'd sure hate to lose my phone over a paper that's pointless.

From what was explained to me, you must have started the order process prior to the expiration. Even if your deliver date is past that, you are still good to go.

I preordered online and already have my 7. My question is can I still trade in my 6 at a local Verizon store? Or do I HAVE to mail it in bc it was an online order?

Pretty sure you need to mail it in. Last time I checked at our local store, they would not accept it if it was set up to be mailed in.

You can take it to the store.

Purchasing the iPhone 7 online isn't the same as initiating the trade in online. If it was purchased online, you may trade in either place. If the trade in was already initiated online though, you must complete it online.

Haven't purchased one online recently, but last time I did when I checked out it initiated the rebate/return process for the old phone I was going to turn in. Has that changed?

I should clarify. I wasn't previously on a device payment plan (DPP). I was off-contract and not making any phone payments (my phone was "paid in full"). Thus, I had the choice whether to imitate a return or not.

I own my 6+ outright and planned to wait for the iPhone 8 next year, but this offer is tempting. If the iPhone 8 meets the hype with a new design and improved hardware, I know I'm going to want it. In which case I'm only going to have earned half of the $650 reimbursement AND who knows what the promo will be next year. I'd be quite surprised if it's this good, which likely came about to drive sales and retain customers during a less than exciting product launch. As tempting as it is, I should probably hold off until next year. Does anyone see this differently?

I don't want next year's phone. First off, this phone will last at least a couple of years. Secondly, new designs and tech always have a lot more bugs, kinks, etc. I'd rather wait for the "S" model.

I think each person is different. My 6 was fine other than the Touch ID not working so great. The 7 is notably faster, but I was content with the 6 speed. If I had to do it again then I would probably wait for the next gen but if I had a 5s or older, the 7 would be a great upgrade. I just took my 6 in to a Verizon store and got my discount so it'll end up being a good deal. I always keep my devices for 2 years before upgrading.

So according to Reddit - you can indeed buy it from Apple... See here:
