I'm glad it worked out for you. I've looked at T-Mobile's coverage map and there's no way I could get by with T-Mobile based on my travels.

I also tried using T-Mobile, but I could not use it. I am in San Francisco too. It is because my office is in the basement of a building. I get absolutely no service with t-mobile, while ATT and Verizon are completely fine.

I have come to find out that it is because the frequency bands t-mobile uses are not good at penetrating buildings, so I get no service almost as soon as I walk down the stairs. Meanwhile ATT, and Verizon frequencies penetrate buildings quite well.

It's too bad. I would have switched a while ago.

network "congestion" my ass. look how quick they are to offer more when they look comparatively bad

Ya' think?

They're wringing as much gold out of this goose as they can, and only competition will change that.

We all need to thank T-Mobile for this. Without them stirring the pot, none of this happens.

Yeah, that's one of the bigger downsides with T-Mobile--I can't even get a signal in my house (not basement or anything made out of concrete) but right outside it's just fine. Part of the reason they are one of the first ones to be behind WiFi calling, basically to make up some for that indoor gap they seem to have.

Depending on your data allowance you can get $10/month off or even $25/month off with a non-contract phone on one of the current plans.

Not true on Verizon. Verizon only discounts plans that are currently on an Edge payment. Verizon does not discount bring your own or paid off phones.

The problem is.. $115 is just for the data. You add another $15-$40 per phone. (depending on if you are on/off contract)
True. Even if you add the cost for devices in, still seems like the price per GB nowadays is lower than it was a few years ago.

NOW
$115 for 15GB of data
$40 to add a phone on a 2-year contract
$10 to add the iPad
---------
$165 ... or $11/GB

THEN
$90 for 2GB of data for iPhone (includes price of phone)
$30 for 2GB of data for iPad
-------
$120 ... or $30/GB

On my 10 GB More Everything plan ($80 with "20% Access Discount"), I'm getting the $25 per-line discount on both an Edge plan iPhone 6 and a bring-your-own iPhone 5S. Both phones were activated in September.

So say I have three lines on my plan.. a dummy phone, an ipad and my iphone 6plus line.. If I got the "30gb" plan.. can't I just use the 30gb a month on my main line?

Wondering if this would be worth losing my unlimited data...

Since I do use about 16-18gbs a month standard.

Cellular service is so expensive in North America.
On the plus side, the plans work everywhere in the US with no roaming fees, and LTE was deployed there a few years before most of Europe.

Seems like a lot of the less-expensive European plans don't let one travel out of their home country (many of which are the size of a single state in the US) without incurring roaming fees.

Considering the land area that must be spanned for towers, power line and data line... compared to your little island... All things in perspective.

Yes, it depends how much data you use on the iPad.

The way it's going now. Carriers will just keep doubling data every year or so. Verizon did it last February. I expect something similar to happen in 2015.

Still waiting for it to happen in Canada. $80 gets you a whole 500mb of data!

My extended family (all 6 of us) have iPhones, and we share 4GB of data per month. We have never gone over. Our bill is $320 per month.

I guess we get no deal. We need to spend $400 to get a deal. Got it.

Dude - are you serious? We have 4 phones plus an iPad. My total bill is under $90 per month with T-Mobile - granted I get about $20 per month in loyalty discounts otherwise it would be closer to $110 with taxes. Unlimited calling, texts, and 2.5GB of data per line. Two add'l lines would add $10 per line to that price, bringing it to about $130. That's a price difference of about $190 per month. It's the value plan with no "free" phones.

But damn, look at the price differential... you could buy a brand new phone about every 3-4 months! Of course, I buy my phones outright - usually an older unlocked model for under $300.

DOwnside to T-Mobile is very spotty 4G/LTE coverage in between major metro areas while traveling. But in major metros it is fine for me.

This is correct. You do not have to be on the EDGE program to get the $10/$25 discount for smartphones. I have 3 iPhones on lines out of contract and get a $25 discount on all 3 of those lines. I purposely paid full price for my new iPhone 6+ and my brother in laws new iPhone 6 to keep those lines off contract so I could keep the $25/month discount.

The thing that bugs me is they will not give a discount on feature phones that are no longer under contract. I have my wife's grandmother on my plan and I have to pay $35/month for her phone to be active, while I have three iphones that I only pay $15/month for. It would be worth it to me to buy her a new smartphone at full price to save $20/month on our plan, but I don't think she would understand how to use one.

Okay another question.. will this plan last forever? Or is it just going to last a year?

If it mirrors AT&T's offering, you get to stay on the plan as long as you don't change anything in regards to the data plan. This promo is only for a month, but it allows any user who signs up to be included indefinitely.

They do, it's just not advertised all over the place (unfortunately).

Wow. Looks like you guys barely use data at all. $320 for such a paltry amount of data? That's pretty ridiculous. But hey it's not my money. I'm sure Verizon is loving it.

Unless they're the only carrier where you live, I'd seriously take a look at other carriers. With the amount of money you're overpaying them every month you could buy all of your iPhones outright every few months.

Yes, that's quite ridiculous. It should really apply to any line that is part of the plan.

Littl confused...

So do I have to wait until tomorrow and sign up for one of these plans? Or if I already have one, do I get the bonus data without doing anything?

And is this for existing More Everything plans or only new subscribers?
