Anyone who thought otherwise doesnt follow Apple. Steve would never allow another company to announce an Apple product. Late January or even the week of the 6th for a keynote from Jobs and Co.

You are completely right on Moneyman. I, unfortunately, understand why non apple-heads might think it would get announced at CES, but anyone that follows Steve knows that when it is announced it will be at an Apple event, not a Verizon one. My money says announcement sometime in February. Hoping for CDMA/LTE, but have a feeling it will be CDMA only for now.

What a MORON!!!

Whoever is the source of this his a complete moron... everyone knows there is an app for that... lol! I can't believe this person announcing there is an iPhone 4 but ended up Android... nyahahahahaha greatttttt drollll people drolllll!!!

It's not an argument, it probably would never happen, it just would be interesting. When Apple gives up exclusivity in the US, they're handing over their bargaining chip. They'll be like every other phone manufacturer, at the total mercy of the carriers. Innovations like Visual Voicemail, App stores, etc. never would have happened if Apple didn't have leverage over ATT.

I just think it would be obnoxious. Far more obnoxious than if they just kept exclusivity with AT&T. Because if they started exclusivity with Verizon, I'd never experience the phone so would maybe want it but not feel like something was taken away.

If they go with one carrier then refuse to use them, everyone on that carrier is going to feel like they got something taken away. It's far worse/obnoxious.

(and I'm just talking from a consumer standpoint)

Except for features that AT&T denies, like tethering, which we have up here, for free with our data plans, even though there is no carrier exclusivity. Seriously, there would have been the same innovations. There have been App Stores before Apple, even carrier independent app stores. Apple didn't even really bring anything new to the world of cellphones, they just marketed it well and made a good UI for their device at the time (which nowadays is quite dated and in need of a few improvements).

Get it out of your head that innovation and exclusivity go hand in hand. They are unrelated.

I'd like to add that Apple didn't even invent the real first capacitive touchscreen phone. The actual medal for that belongs to LG with the Prada.

Just a thought, maybe they will make an announcement about the event in the first week of the year (probably before the 6th so not to steal thunder from the Mac App Store debuting), and the event will take place on 1/11/11?

Wow I was right! hehe =)
