I'm not a passionate supporter of any carrier.

Then why the blatant double standard?

You cant be parading around how "consumer-friendly" TMobile is and then make excuses when they start to back track (again). It doesn't work like that.

It looks like T-mo is out of steam now. They slowed down network upgrades last months. Only populism. Buy pizza, catch pokemon and so on.
More gimmicks. I can't believe people actually fall for the free pizza and movie ticket charade.

They should spend that marketing money on network improvements and spectrum.

Legere attacked At&t and Verizon for the exact same thing.
So if it boils down to this, it still appears that T-Mobile is making it easier:

T-Mobile: Order online to avoid an upgrade fee.

AT&T & Verizon: There is no way to avoid the upgrade fee. Spend your time to call and complain to our support folks, and they may give you a credit to offset the upgrade fee.

I find it highly ironic that you would defend such a sleazy company.

And for the record, I've never paid an upgrade fee. I always get it credited back. Never been a problem.
Verizon upgrade fee:
"You will be charged a $20 upgrade fee if you purchase a new device at full retail price or through the device payment program. If you purchased your device with a 2-year contract, a $40 upgrade fee applies."

http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/upgrade-fee-faqs/

AT&T upgrade fee:
Wireless activation and upgrade fees1 are one time fees that may be added to your first or next AT&T bill.
  • Activation and upgrade fees for devices purchased with an installment agreement – $20
  • Activation fee for bring your own device - $20.
  • Activation and upgrade fees for two year agreement - $45. Note: Two year agreements are available only on select devices.

So on Verizon and AT&T if I process the upgrade myself and using an automated process (such as their website) I still have to pay an upgrade fee, no assistance from either company... On T-Mobile if I upgrade I only have to pay an upgrade fee if I require the assistance of somebody in store or over the phone to help me. Also, the majority of people on T-Mobile aren't even effected at all by this change.

Like T-Mobile or not, they are pushing for costs to go down which helps all of us regardless of what carrier you're on.

I'm just happy that they are making all these positive changes to the US wireless market.
Unlike you that won't even admit that competition is great for every US customer;)
