Well, I just checked all of my bills from July - September, and none of them have a notice about "Network Optimization." I have unlimited data on my line only, and all of the lines on my account are under contract (upgrade swapping loopholes to keep unlimited data). It appears that you will not be throttled if you're still under contract.

Thanks for the follow up. :)

From what I'm reading on that page, they're only going to throttle you back when you've exceeded 4.7GB and the tower you're connected to is congested. That's not that bad -- much better than how AT&T does it, which has a hard cutoff of 5GB no matter how many people are on the tower.

When I get throttled on AT&T I don't know the difference. The pings are still low which is what you want.

Just had to chime in here

I have at&t and I have unlimited and was throttled for the first time last month. Let me tell you something, I was slowed down so much I could not even check my email anymore. I did a speed test and it said 0.20mbps. According to the company it's still unlimited, but they left out the fact that its unusable.

Left my unlimited data / no contract with VZW yesterday. Enjoying my cheaper build, and unlimited data on T-Mobile now.

They have already said that they will not throttle bizz accounts so don't hate. I would also like to add that when Verizon notified unlimited customers back in august about this that the only people that got that notice were the ones that where not under a contract

Meh. Who cares. You don't need a business account to stay unlimited with a contract. Just find your usual unlimited upgrade loophole and your good.

No they didn't.

Yes they have ! I am really not sure why you want to argue this cause you are clearly wrong. They also didn't send notices in peoples bills who were under contract back in August and had unlimited. Sounds to me like you are a hater cause you don't have unlimited data

Verizon Unlimited Throttling Begins This Wed

I'm still in a contract until October 2015 so I'm not that worried. If I was month to month I would just switch my wife and I to AT&T mobile share plan due to that double data for life. I'm sure that AT&T did that promotion this month specifically for unlimited data users on Verizon since I could bring my and my wife's phone over ($15 access vs $40 since we have our own phones) on top of the $130 fee for 30GB. So at $160 it would be similar to what I pay for now since I pay for tethering on Verizon, plus unlimited minutes and unlimited texting versus the 550 shared minute and 1000 messages per line.

I never said that you had to have a business account to stay on unlimited and not get throttled

I guess that is good for people who never leave the city but the bulk of T-Mobiles network is edge and it's about useless. I would rather stay with Verizon cause I need a phone that works when I leave a major city

Wrong. You just need to be under contract and you won't be throttled.

I just renewed my contract when I got my 6 and was also able to keep my unlimited. So sorry, you're not too cool for school :(

Yes I remember reading if you under contract they won't throttle you.

We will just all have to do another unlimited loophole next year to keep our unlimited plans.

I am sure Verizon will have another one especially if sales numbers are down for the quarter . These are no doubt planned to boost numbers:D

I've been dreading this day for a while. I use 10-15gb monthly so I'll likely be in the high user tier.

No contract, been on a month-to-month "Unlimited Web and Email" plan for 30 dollars a month for years now.

If I notice major throttles, I'll likely leave and head towards T-Mobile for an unlimited plan. I'm hoping i can use my phone (bought off-contract, of course) on T-Mobile if that switch happens to occur. I trust Verizon's service more, but out of spite I will leave because not offering unlimited data in 2014 is absurd and clearly anti-consumer.

I'm hoping this throttle isn't as bad as the old AT&T ones, but... who knows.

Haha your reaching because you think your the only one with unlimited that won't be throttled. Well we will see in 2 years so keep wishing ;)

Why are you trying to argue with me when I agree with you 100% I have also been very helpful on slickdeals and in the other thread that talks about this on this site ;)

Reaching how so ? I am actually the person that has posted some of these glitches that my sources from Verizon told me about . They are clearly planned and with companies like Cricket offering 10 gigs for $55 I fully believe that unlimited data will return for all in a couple of years. Even for those people like yourself who are not willing to doing an AOL and get an Unlimited Verizon data account.

I do too, but it might be too optimistic to expect it within a few years. Maybe within 5. Eventually once everyone is on larger phones with more emphasis on streaming and HD video, they will inevitably see that 1-2GB is impossible to maintain realistically while getting full use of your mobile device.

Why don't you get under contract now with one of the many methods that work now ?

Hi All,

Just a friendly reminder it begins this Wed 10/1. For unlimited customers like myself, report here if your throttling or "network optimization" is really bad. Hope not though.

My heart bleeds for you guys... really.

I remember getting upset when I lost my unlimited data 2 years ago... till I went back over my history and saw that I had never used over 3GB in any month dating back to my first days as a Verizon customer (Alltel) in 1998.

WiFi is everywhere... and I surf porn at home... not on LTE.

What are some? I wasn't aware. Could you let me know? I'd really appreciate it.

Well, that's great that you used it that way. But a lot of us use LTE for places without internet. Without reliable, unpassworded, wifi.

I have great internet at home, but a lot of places still have locked wifi and if they don't, it's open and likely crowded and messy. There's still a very valid reason for people to have unlimited data.

WiFi is not everywhere and many places with WiFi (like hotels) have poor speeds compared to LTE. Also, there is more to the internet than porn :p.

Long thread. Read OP and some of the last few pages to see that it still works, even with Apple.
