I know it's not the 2nd, but I'm sure they can give me information about something that's posted on their own site -- it's not like I got it from a 3rd party source. I was trying to determine if one changed today, if tomorrow the double data would kick in (by that logic everyone with 15 GB would automatically be moved to 30 GB), they're saying that customers who are already on MORE everything would need to call in to GET the double data, you'd think it'd just be easier to just migrate everyone over to it..

Chances are it is a last minute move to match ATT so they are probably still rolling out the info internally.

I'm on contract and have used....37gb....no throttling, g/f has used around 15gb

Next month you will get a "friendly" warning then afterwards you will be throttled. This is day one so don't expect anyone to be throttled right away. Warnings will ensue then throttling will begin.

They've been warning for months already. No reason to warn again. I'd rather them get it started so we can see what the speeds will be.

Nope, today is day one. They've notifed this action for months. Theres no friendly reminder.

I'm wondering if they saw how many people were still getting away with the loopholes to renew contracts, and figured it'd be better to just let this run it's course for another year or two -- it doesn't matter as I'm sure they have some new trick up their sleeve - like you can't upgrade your phone anymore once this phone or that phone comes out, and what not and keep unlimited data. (Most likely when VoLTE only devices come out maybe)

I feel very certain the complaints to the FCC had something to do with this. I know I wrote a lengthy letter to them. It's not about me being greedy over my data and such, but it is the fact that if I pay Verizon for a tiered plan over 5gb then I won't get throttled. What is the difference? There is NO difference besides MONEY. These phones use data like crazy and not everyone has access to wifi. If this really happened then after 4.7gb my phone would have been useless. I can go through more than 5gb quickly due to tethering (which I pay for) and using cellular data for everything on my phone.

I had a feeling this was going to happen and I'm so glad it did. I bet Verizon tried to fight it out until the very end, but couldn't win. Again, this was purely over money bc I can pay them hundreds of dollars and get 100gb of data throttle free. Good job big red... You can't win every battle :)

I'm really curious to know if this will affect ATT's stance on throttling grandfathered users. I just gave up my two grandfathered plans for the new double data promo ATT is offering.

Cheers to all the Verizon unlimited users!

I'm sure it has to do more with the 700 Mhz spectrum agreements Verizon made than anything else, that or they'll try to find a way to make people drop unlimited once they start moving their voice service off 3G and on to LTE, or whatever other idea they can muster up to piss people off.

They have already said that they will not throttle bizz accounts so don't hate. I would also like to add that when Verizon notified unlimited customers back in august about this that the only people that got that notice were the ones that where not under a contract

So looks like your business account doesn't matter become they aren't throttling at all.

You're "inside" sources were wrong.

This was the LAST piece of news I expected, considering Verizon's history and reputation. But boy am I glad I waited.

The plans from Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T were all very enticing but I'm glad I stuck it out and waited. My 2 (soon to be 3) unlimited lines will be safe and sound.

So after my 2 year unlimited data contract expires next July will I just be going month to month unlimited and have to buy a phone outright and NOT under contract to keep my unlimited data??? Thanks people

Nope my sources were correct I just didn't post this possible outcome cause I didn't want people to get there hopes up . This was due to FCC complaints by users like myself so please go troll somebody else

Oh boy back pedal back pedal.

You said you know people at Verizon and this was happening today. You were quite happy about it too since you were on a special account

I wasn't happy about it and things have changed drastically over the last 48 hours as you can see. You were the one that said that everybody would be throttled even those under contract so I am done wasting my time
