never noticed the line until I read this thread. mines a stainless steel space black s4, now I can't unsee the line, lol. I have apple care, so I'll probably wait couple months and see if this issue gets resolved. For now, its not a huge deal..

Just picked up my 44mm stainless Apple Watch Series 4. Has anyone else noticed a vertical line running the length of the screen top to bottom. It's only noticeable on grey-ish backgrounds, and some may still consider it pretty subtle.

The easiest test for me was to bring up the built-in Flashlight, and the grey background (before it gets bright) was easy for me to see it. It's just off center of the screen for me, running top to bottom. It's annoying on some of my wallpapers, too, if they're a little grey. I tried to get a photo, but it's not happening...

Anyway, just wondering if I got unlucky, or if this is common...

*edit*

As was helpfully suggested in this thread - it’s easiest to see it while scrolling around the Maps app map itself.

Picked up my AW S4 Nike two days ago and noticed it like 30 minutes after on the alarm app, in the left side of the screen vertical lines and some light bleed I think? and only noticeable on full color faces and on grey-ish colors

And its very noticeable on photos too

That’s pretty common on LG OLED displays. However, this is a little extreme for the Apple Watch, I’d say. That’s actually not the vertical-line issue described in this particular thread. I’d exchange that.

Your case is minimal. But you also have to take in consideration, look at the background that you’re using that you’re able to even see the vertical line, it’s a gray-scale, so basically it will show every imperfection as it is just given the color.

Yep in Maps it’s really easy to see inside my house right now. Outside in the sun I doubt I’d be able to see it.

Just so bizarre!
[doublepost=1539917204][/doublepost]Got a photo that if you know what you’re looking for you can see it. Just to the right of center, top to bottom. It's extremely faint in this picture, and much more easy to see in person.
What in the world. That's EXACTLY what I have on my brand new SE.

Hi mrex,

I’ve added some arrows to the photo posted above, the line is a little bit to the left of these arrows and most noticeable at the very top of the screen (probably because of the lighting). It is very faint but if you look closely it’s just there.

Hope this helps.
[doublepost=1540034921][/doublepost]If there’s anyone reading here who commented earlier to say they didn’t have an issue: could you post a picture similar to the one from before so we can have a look?

Thanks
Still there on SE on Watch OS 7

Guys i thought i was crazy until i found this thread... Just got my second apple watch and i am returning for the exact same reason. The pale-reddish vertical line. The first watch was produced on last week of August. The last one was produced on last week of October. When was yours manufactured? I used the following web page to check https://sndeep.info/en .

Did all of you have the exact problem on the exact position as sketched on the first photo attached?
Yep. right there. 40 MM Apple Watch SE

So, I think maybe the people that can see this vertical slight purple line have more sensitive cones and rods in their eyes, and can see a much broader range of color than others. (not a good or bad thing).

I'm in a field where I work very creatively on a computer screen and can perceive colors much more nuanced than others. So I (and the others on this thread) can see this faint color line because we have sensitive eyes.

The line(s) are more perceivable on a white screen. I've done the iphone roulette return game and if it isn't one thing wrong, it's another.... so not sure it's worth my time and frustration.

My only choice would be to return for a Series 6 and pay $120 for a perfect screen (becuase I would wager that Apple is using the top screen manufacturer for their newest watches), and the SE got relegated to the Series 4 screen manufacturer (which has this issue).

And thankfully, I don't have to stare at my watch screen for very long.

Found this because I have the same issue. 44 series 6 stainless steel. Vertical line just to the right of centre. So they are not using any sort of “better” panel for the series 6 over the SE.

compared it to my coworker's SE, and his has no line, so I think it is an issue if it has the line present.

sent a photo to apple in a support chat - confirmed it is a display anomaly. they will do an express replacement for me, I will initiate this in the new year after the Christmas crazy. so if you have this - its an issue, not normal.

Hey I got an Series 6 44 a few days ago, it also has the issue with the line. I noticed it on a white screen. After returning it, the new one also has this line. However the SE (44) from a friend dosen't have this issue. I thinking to stick with the second one. Because I don't want to waste time to return it and get a new one with the same issue.

Did you managed to get a new one without that issue?

I am Mexican, I bought my Apple Watch SE Nike 40 mm here in my country, I have the same problem in my Apple Watch SE Nike, I bought it a week ago, with everything I have read I have come to the conclusion that it is normal due to OLED screen, I see it a lot on low brightness flashlight screen and low brightness yellow backgrounds. The same I read on the Sony page that the lines are normal in low brightness on OLED screens.

Just a short update:
My new AW 6 has this vertical line too. Visible only with white or gray watchface. To me this seems almost a normal behavior ?
