MBP's weight 4.02 lbs vs 4.06

Your device is too heavy. My back would suffer, and this guy wouldn't approve of that 10lb device:

What did people do when portables weight 30 pounds?

Nobody had 17 inch PowerBooks or MacBook Pros?

Our fitness center told me that she's going to get rid of a pullup/roman chair/dip machine. I told her that was my favorite machine. She said that most people use it for the Roman Chair as very few people can do pullups. That's reasonable because you need to be fairly strong in the arms and shoulders (and abs) and you can't be too heavy. Given that 2/3rds are overweight or obese - it means that you don't have a lot of people leftover.

So are MacBook Pro users weak or overweight?

I think it was a joke.

It was sarcasm.

Now for the love of all that is holly...
Please tell me you are joking as well!

Original post: this is the reality of new MBPs. I can’t recommend them.

I’m extremely frustrated with mine, which is why I also now have a 2015 model.

Responsiveness: buy NoCrashMBP for 10 bucks.

The machine will run hotter and use the battery more, but it will keep it from going to idle by doing 25K to 40 K idle wake ups per CPU second. It makes my late 2013 MBP run Geekbench scores like a 2017 MBP.

I’m convinced that apple is throttling the cpu to more idle times in order to save battery life.

I know. But my point stands. What did people do when devices were larger and heavier?

They complained about their laptops size and weight. A lot! And then switched to MacBook and Macbook Pros because they were lighter and slimmer.

Even today no one wants to lug a 5 pound notebook or a 7 pound gaming notebook around. They do it, but grudgingly, if they really need the power. And they know they only have 2 hours battery life and grudgingly carry their charger everywhere.

Even in MacBook Pros the difference is large. Pick up a 2011 classic 13" MacBook Pro and compare it to a 2013 13" retina MacBook Pro. Night and day difference.

I carry two MacBook Pros today. 8 pounds. No big deal. I have a lot of other stuff in my backpack and it probably weighs 15 pounds. I used to carry around an Inspiron 4000 and an Inspiron 4100. 8 pounds each. The gaming notebooks I'm looking at are 10 pounds. Yeah, probably another three or four with the two power bricks.

Did the current generation just give up their gym memberships?

Why? No use having two computers these days for traveling.
