....option to erase a Mac without having to reinstall the operating system....
You could do that for years, just create a new admin account, log into the new account, erase *done.
(I do have today this was easily done BEFORE, Apple is restricting acces to the filesystem more and more so this might not be possible in BS and Monterey)

*Open terminal, run

sudo rm /private/var/db/.AppleSetupDone
Restart

Or start-up in Single user mode and run (This might not work on BS and Monterey due to restrictions to the file system.)

/sbin/fsck -fy
enter
/sbin/mount -uw /
enter
rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
reboot

Did they fix auto-opening windows on restarting MacOS? It seems to have been broken for years, automatically opening apps I had previously closed, swamping me with running applications

Also, how good is the erase and restore?
As a developer I install a lot of stuff that doesn't go through a drag and drop or normal installer... I'm sure they get their hooks in lots of places in the system. Since this is a Mac and not iOS where everything runs in neat little sandboxes, how do I actually know it erased the system and is the equivalent of a fresh install if I'm going to give it to someone else?
Since Big Sur, the System Volume is separate from Users & Apps and is a Read Only volume. My understanding is that it will just delete the encryption keys. On the T-chip Macs, the data is always encrypted, even if Filevault 2 isn't turned on, it just doesn't ask for the password.
I've got the beta running on a test 2015 15" MacBook Pro, and the option for Erasing All DATA and Settings isn't there, but since this doesn't have a T-chip, that explains it.

Can we just list the 20? I'm not watching a video.

Can someone post a TLDW?

1) Erase All Content & Settings (0:20)

2) Auto Window Resizing (0:52)

3) Use Another Mac As External Display (1:10)

4) Low Power Mode on Mac (1:29)

5) HomePod Mini Default AppleTV Speaker (1:57)

6) Use FaceID or TouchID with AppleTV (2:10)

7) Request a Refund (2:28)

8) Text Selector Magnifying Glass (2:51)

9) Time Selection Scroll Wheel (3:07)

10) App Store Screenshots Hidden for Installed Apps (3:18)

11) Archive Expired Passes & Tickets (3:46)

12) View iPhone Apps in Landscape on iPad (4:15)

13) App Library on iPad (4:32)

14) Rearrange Home Screen Pages (4:45)

15) Custom iCloud Mail Domain (5:08)

16) Locate Turned-Off Devices (5:26)

17) Separation Alerts (5:43)

18) EXIF Metadata in Photos App (6:07)

19) FaceTime on Android & PC (6:32)

20) Temporary Expanded iCloud Storage (6:51)

There is a little button on the Shutdown confirmation to turn that off. Didn't you ever notice it? Turn it off and leave it off. Yes, startup is much faster. Don't forget to prune your apps and extensions etc. that launch on boot.

I don't want to turn it off, I want it to freaking work correctly

More iOS features being ported to macOS. How many versions apple will take to only allow macOS users install apps from App Store? Thats the only logical step to happen next with apple silicon.

Erasing your Mac and low power mode are things that came to macOS from iOS.

More proof that macOS and IOS will soon be very much the same.

Wait til touch screen on the Mac.

Face ID on the Mac

And So ON

The big news is the revelation that Dan has a beautiful family!

In the picture of the family in the corner is a circle headshot of the people ID'ed in the picture. Is that the new format for the "People" in iOS 15? Pretty slick I guess.

i can't pin a program to launch on a secondary monitor unless i create a dummy extra space because... reasons?

message notifications frequently loses the ability to display contact info in notifications, even though its clearly assigning it to the proper contact history. so some days all my messages will arrive as phone numbers.

messages also frequently loses the ability to select text!!

dragging the messages window also has over a second of lag before it responds, unlike any other app.

on occassion, my home automation setup has completely disappeared for several days... and then mysteriously come back.

maps navigation turns off the screen even when plugged in to a car mount.

these are a few of the ones that create nearly daily frustration for me, and most have sat unaddressed for years!

If you have an Apple Watch it alerts you there.
big nuisance factor potential
if I walk to the other end of my house, my watch will tell me I don’t have my phone?
I don’t usually take my phone on morning walks either, so lots of beeping coming up
I think my watch does too much of that already

Why are you complaining about a function that you have not used yet? It seems an odd presumption others would not think of these basic things when writing the code. You do not think it will be able to recognize you are at home and not give you constant notifications? Worst case scenario you should turn this function off and let others appreciate the useful funtionality when it is released.

Still didn’t fix my #1 annoyance.
Flash ON is buried in the tray. Bring it back to the top left with Auto/Off.
Taking photos is a nightmare experience
Is the flash next to Night shift timing just a Pro Max thing then?
