Monterey better allow me to finally watch my purchased iTunes HD content (movies and shows) on my 2019 iMac without incurring the idiotic HDCP error.

you da real mvp

If you have an Apple Watch it alerts you there.
I read an article yesterday that said it does NOT alert your AW if you leave your iPhone behind, that the function is missing in watchOS. Can you confirm that this alert will work in the next watchOS?

Of course, these alerts depend on you not leaving your iPhone behind (there's currently no equivalent separation alert available on Apple Watch for this scenario, sadly), so that's the device you won't want to forget, wherever it is you go.

The new Features added to Final Cut Pro suite version 10.53 are more exciting than macOS Monterey and IOS 15 together.

big nuisance factor potential
if I walk to the other end of my house, my watch will tell me I don’t have my phone?
I don’t usually take my phone on morning walks either, so lots of beeping coming up
I think my watch does too much of that already
Maybe the brainiacs at Apple will put an enable/disable toggle on the feature, you think?

At home, if you are on the same WIFI (or anywhere, actually) I would suppose the feature would be paused. As far as your walk, if Apple uses geo-location it will know you are at home. Either way it's a tap on the screen to mute it, probably. Consider it part of your Fitness Activity! :)

May be a silly question but, I remember when getting a new iPhone years ago. When it’s on the same local network as the old phone, I was able to transfer everything to the new phone without iCloud.
So, why is having a temporary increase in iCloud storage an annoyance fix?
Are people transferring to their new phones via mobile data?

It’s even faster now, with Peer to Peer. That said, I think this for people who have stopped backing up their phones because they don’t want to pay the 99 cents or $2.99 storage. Idk, it’s still unclear how the mechanism is triggered, clearly the server has to get the message that you got a new phone?

With iOS 15 and macOS Monterey, Apple is adding several quality of life improvements, which are designed to address some of the complaints that people have had with these operating systems for years now.

In our latest YouTube video, we're highlighting some of our favorite "fix" features that address long-running problems in iOS and macOS or that bring significant improvements to the usage experience.

Some of these major improvements include an option to erase a Mac without having to reinstall the operating system, connecting to a Mac using AirPlay, requesting refunds for in-app purchases directly within an app, getting an alert if you leave your phone behind, automatically removing expired passes from Wallet, and more. We've even thrown in a couple bonus tvOS features.

What are your favorite quality of life improvements in iOS 15 and macOS Monterey? Let us know in the comments.

Fix Time Machine so I can retrieve past emails. This capability was lost with Catalina and hasn't returned with Big Sur.

My biggest annoyance in Big Sur is the "Battery Level" chart in System Preferences -> Battery, which does not respect the 24 hour time setting and displays 15h as "3", 18h as "6", etc. But it doesn't display am or pm either, leaving you to guess. And weirdly it does display midnight as 00! Minor, yes, but so very irritating.

The equivalent chart in iOS is correct and uses the correct time formats.

There is plenty of feedback they have been ignoring for a decade. Please stop speaking for others.

You can set up zones like home, work, etc that will not alert you when you are in those zones.

After three years why do we still have that dumb little bar at the bottom of the phone to remind us to swipe up? We know already!
Part of the appeal iOS was that it was super-intuitive to use. At some point it began to lose that when Ive and Co. took over for Forstall and assumed that everyone miraculously knew how to use an iPhone already.

That nightmare drove me to Android for close to ten years, and now that I'm back iOS was as unfamiliar and unintuitive as ever, and so I had to LEARN to use it (Apple's helpful feature micro-videos are fantastic).

Now I'm quite proficient, but I had to WORK at it.

In short: assuming people know how to use your device is a bad idea.

Welcomed:
- HomePod as default speaker
- TVoS Sign-in using TouchID and FaceID - SUPER great and an oversight it took Apple this long. Like how often do we have guests over and you have to sign into an app to restore a purchase and they see you typing in your password on a HUGE screen. Like they can just follow-along and enter in their phones Notes.
- Expired Passes

Question:
Expired Passes - does this mean Apple’s own online store purchases with in-store pickup Wallet entries will FINALLY be gone? I purchased a 2016 MBP a few years back, then returned it, bought a different spec 3mths later and the staff and I was confused as the first Wallet pass showed up and they almost got the old spec lol.

So yeah continuing to submit feedback.

Would have loved to see reliable Bluetooth audio connection. Stuttering is an ongoing issue.

Also when typing messages autocorrect still sucks. Plus: Still no multilingual autocorrect available. How so?

However, there are always neat improvements in each new release to be found.
