From raving about being able to reach every part of the iPhone's 4-inch screen with just your thumb to a 5.5-inch display? I can't imagine how that would even play out. Anything larger than a 5-inch flagship smartphone is simply not practical.

I don't buy the continued same size side bezels. Phone have been going towards a more edge to edge design and I think Apple will do some of that too. I also don't see those thick strips on the back that U shape around the pieces that are currently plastic but look to either be metal or painted plastic on the new model. These strips are too wide. I think we will see narrower bezels all around except for the bottom home button.

While there have been plenty of videos comparing the 4.7-inch version of the iPhone 6 to the Samsung Galaxy S5 and other smartphones, there haven't been many comparing the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 to other devices.
...

How can anyone compare something that doesn't exist (in the wild) to ANYTHING?

I really don't think the 5.5" model made it past the prototype stage.
As you said, it's obnoxiously large. Also, every "part" leak aside from dummy cases has been for the 4.7" model so far.

I don't see Apple introducing 2 new devices at 2 completely new resolutions (with potentially different specs and features)when a big point of pride is the lack of fragmentation in their development community.

As the guy in the video said in about a million words, the 4.7" would be the preferred model anyway. There's no reason to make a bigger one just to say you did.

Yes, yes and yes and yes one more time. Agree.

The only thing that is weird is Xcode doesn't have a new size for it. Instead they have flexible sizes, where you design apps that resize to different screen sizes. Maybe they are paving the way to a 5.5, but I highly doubt iphone 6 is it. I mean go see a note 3. I just laughed and thought it was a joke until I realized it was a real phone.

Well that seals the deal for me on the 4.7". That bezel is way too crazy on the 5.5". I think 5" with a tiny bezel would be ideal. My wife hopes the 4" model doesn't go away or that they bring back the 3.5" model because it actually fits in her pocket and hands.

Serious question: Are there any good Android phones that are smaller? If Apple completely leaves out another size segment again then they'll lose sales to people in that range next. Eventually my wife will want to upgrade from her iPhone 5 to get a better camera or some future feature like wireless payments. She shouldn't have to get a phone that is uncomfortable for her to use to get those features. Charge us more, I don't care! It just needs to be an option. I think it's pretty lame to draw someone into your ecosystem, have them invest a bunch of money, and then stop selling a device that comes in a size that is useable to them. That iPhone 5 won't run forever, and it definitely won't be supported forever.

They still have really small flip phones you can go to.

Amost as dull as 94.8% of all rumor comments lately is about people apparently have some perverse obsession with telling everyone how much they dislike rumors.

almost as dull as comments about calling other rumor comments dull are rumor comments calling comments about calling other comments dull.

But not as bad as calling the dull comment dull which in the end becomes a good comment. Because a negative negative that is negative becomes a positive. So technically the comment was awesome... I think....

This done by a bunch of high school kids out of some rich dad's cellar? Yes, they have all the tools, but they really need someone with a lot more maturity and presence to talk. This kid looks like he's been bumped too much in the high school hallway. At least have some eye contact!

I don't know what people are complaining about the 5.5" comes out with the new iHand :)
and it's completely undetectable...

Exhibit A: Case Mate's "iPhone 5" cases in 2011.

I agree. Something seems wrong here. Either these samples are completely wrong, or the case manufacturers misinterpreted the blueprints.

The 5.5" sample looks so awkward with the giant bezels. I find it hard to believe apple would release a phone with a smaller screen size than the Galaxy Note 3 (5.7 to 5.5) that is significantly bigger overall.

I don't think the 5.5" model is accurate. The bezels have no reason to be as large as they are on that model because it has more volume for the same hardware that the 4.7" model has except for the screen and a larger battery.

If anything the bezels should be smaller or the same, but they are noticeably thicker on the 5.5" mockup.

I'll still wait and see what is actually released. If these mockups are a legit representation of what we will get then I'm thinking the 4.7 will be my choice.
I had a GS5 which is as big as I'd like to have in a phone. I recently sold it to come back to iPhone, screen size is the main thing that took me over to Android, but iOS still wins in software.
A relative has the Note 3, I had good look at it, and I don't like it size wise, so an iPhone that's physically bigger won't suit me. Colour wise I'll either go white/silver as I'm liking it on the iPhone 5 I am using now, or black. Gold has never interested me.
For a bigger screen I'm waiting on the next iPad Mini to replace my 3rd Gen iPad.

So there are 2 ways to do this:
1) Put sapphire glass on both sizes and everybody is happy
2) If you put only sapphire glass in the 5.5" at least get rid of the home button and merge with the screen. And with the same LG G3 dimension maybe most people will buy it

Ah, the long-rumoured iHand. I'm sure the Samsung version will be out any day now.

These rumours are getting wild now. In previous years I agree I couldn't see Apple doing two sizes of iPhone. But this is a new Apple. Who knows what they'll do? Like others though I'd be surprised if they released a phone with a smaller screen than Samsung's that was larger overall. But, on the other hand, edge to edge screens have been around for a few years now and we still had big bezels on the iPhone 5s.

I'm going to go and sleep until September. Maybe the world will make much more sense then :D

My biggest question is what Samsung will do when the iPhone is close in size to the Galaxy screen. For a couple years now their main selling point has been on screen size with the software or other features as a side note.

How??? Make Galaxy S6 6.2" and Note 4 8.3"
Simple as that.
