This is what the Apple community have almost become. A fraternity of status bearing, mindless idiots.

MacRumors doesn't help with that of course - how much cash do you rake in for posting this rubbish?

IMHO, the 5 is small.

I do. I've ditched cases long ago.

I realized why get an iPhone to cover it with some trashy looking case. I buy an iPhone for what it is.

You remind me of my friend Sandy who once said to me, after watching me pour my cup of Starbucks coffee into a thermos, "How are people going to know you're drinking Starbucks?"

At 5.5", Apple might as well call it the iPad mini-mini.

On a related note, I've never understood why anyone would need such a large display on a PHONE, a phone that ideally would fit in average pants pockets. I get that there's a market for such devices but if a large display is needed, why not just go all in with a tablet? Oh that's right, it's so one isn't carrying two devices.

a) because it's not just a phone... I guess most people use smartphones 95% for other things than calls.

b) there's still the new 4.7" iPhone which will, unless you are a gnome or ALF, fit in your pocket just fine, like most other flagship devices.

5.5 or 5.7

I don' t like the mockup of the 5,5 inch and i don' t think apple will release it like this.

1. We have seen drawings in the past of a 5.7 inch iphone 6. Could it be that the dimensions of the dummy are correct, but the screen will be 5.7 inch? There is plenty of room for a bigger screen.
2. The 5.5 screen rumours are true, but the case dimensions are false.

Just my 2 cents, these mockups are not refined enough and don' t seem like a product apple would market.

I tried, but I could not get through the video. The kid was just awful. Very annoying and at least as far as I got in the video, I learned nothing new except that the 5.5 was big and that this 16 year old preferred the 4.7 inch model. If anyone survived to the end of the video, please let me know if anything else came up that I missed.

All the people screaming about the fat bezel on the 5.5" version are crazy. I love it because I hate carrying an iPad Mini with me, small as it is. The 5.5" is perfect. I'm never going to notice the bezel or the antenna lines after I slap a case on it anyways. Who the heck uses an iPhone without a case?!

Me. I'm back and forth on it, but I normally like the form factor of the iphone for what it is. I don't like to add bulk to it.

Sometimes I wonder if other people have different pockets. :)
I'm 1.88m tall, I wear 32/34 jeans and I have to *perfectly* align my 5S in my pocket, or it will poke my hip bone. I really hope they keep offering more compact phones.

He's what, 16 or 17 and he has all that neato equipment that his dad probably bought so he can shoot his tech podcast. He's only the millionth person to do such a thing.

And his hands look kind of funny. They look like the hands of a heavy-set person.

Because my ipads are too big to fit into my pocket unlike my galaxy note 3

It's actually quite pathetic. Is MR that hard up for page views?

You mean for its readers who are excited about the iPhone 6? I doubt it. Plenty of demand for it. I can always count on getting my hopes up on this forum when I'm due to replace my iPhone.

Thank you, MR for the side benefit of annoying the trolls. :D

I hope the iPhone6 has superior battery life... Apple really needs to work on it - I don't mind the bezels if there is more battery life...:apple:

They are adding a low end 21.5" iMac with 1.4 Ghz, HD5000 and 500Gb HDD.
So probably at 1000$ i guess

There's no doubt the 4.7 looks like the better option for me personally. I've always liked my 4". In fact, I love my iPhone 5...I can't believe it's almost been 2 years since I bought it.

Still Down. I think they are adding new iPhones, so many mock ups on the market they decided not to bother with the announcement and just release it.

Haha. I bet.

I still can't figure out why a company with Apple's technical know how needs to shut down its online store completely for minor inventory changes.

Clever marketing hype? Or bigger changes being made?

More likely the former. Stock is just a database and I'm sure they could update it without taking the whole site offline for hours at a time.

Edit: it's back. New 21.5" iMac starting at £899 (UK price)

I am done with Apple I think. These bezels are... 90's? Even the iPad Mini is just sad with the huge bezels. I know some of you think they are fine, but they are way too big and in 1 year it will look totally old.

LG G3 looks like big winner of this side by side comparison, at least on the real estate point...

Wait a sec, I'm not sure I've got this straight....

So, this guy thinks the 5.5 inch model is too big and the 4.7 inch model is just right, correct? I just want to make sure I understand him. I mean, I know he went on for over 7 minutes and repeated his point about 37 times, but I just want to make sure I'm understanding him correctly....

5.5 inches = bad, 4.7 inches = good....especially if 5.5 inch model is $100 more.

I think we need another 7 minute video reviewing this guy's video, and clarifying his opinion.

I don't think he realizes that YouTube would have allowed him to go on for another 3 minutes or so, otherwise he wouldn't have cut it short like that.

On several occasions, fake designs were so widespread case manufacturers made tons of cases only to throw them all away because the models going around were fake.

what model went around that was fake ??? you've never seen a physical mockup of a "fake" phone . it's always cases or renders . please show me an article where there was a physical mockup of a phone that didn't come to fruition ......

----------

Yes, I know, but, only Apple knows if these leaks are true.

of course "only they know", but this happens everyyyy single yearrrr . that is the phone Lol Apple is not trying to throw anyone off . the leaks are true ...

just stopped by to see some of you try to justify the bezels on that 5.5

also a major fail if the camera isn't flush. that was one of the things i always loved about iphones.

And the fact that the camera itself is just superior to virtually any other phone. Been using a Moto X as a secondary mess-around device and my God the pics are putrid.

For you. I, for one, use my iPhone for 95% data usage, 5% voice, I'm also 6'5" and have large...um...pockets. So for ME, it is perfect. I seriously hope it's not a rumor...

There's certainly a market for phones that big, but my point is that Apple sells over 60M of these things every quarter, and for most hands and most pockets it's incredibly excessive. I mean, its almost an entire extra inch. Being that they move such high volumes, they can't afford to address niche markets and create inefficiencies in their supply chains. They need to address the largest markets, and creating inefficiencies like this, especially with their history of supply limitations on launches, makes no sense, particularly if they're intending to use that sapphire in their iWatch as well, with that material apparently being the limiting factor this time around. It also increases their operating expenditures, and reduces their operating margins, which would fly directly in the face of trying to keep the cost down so they can address the less fortunate markets around the world as they tried to do with the 5c.

Yes, because Apple will demand that you buy it and you will..

Just ignore the product if you don't like it.

Im a shareholder, I actually care about the intelligence of their product strategies.

I've been using an iPod Touch to get ready for a real update to the iPhone, and I must say that I love how fast the camera is. The pics aren't as clear as the Note but I know the iPhone 5s has a much better camera.

Now only if they could get iOS to not be so gimped, then I might feel comfortable going back to iOS.

In other news, I see that most of this thread is just people whining about bigger phones, like someone is forcing them to buy it. If you are super skinny, just want to go on Facebook and Tweet, and want to spend $1000 more on an LTE iPad Mini and Air then go ahead and get the 4" iPhone.

For people like me, that typically use their smartphones daily for work and for play, and don't want to carry around 4 devices, the 5.5" is PERFECT!
