definitely i will go with 4.7".......if i want bigger screen, i just get iPad Mini :)

I have a Note 3 so that I don't need to buy a tablet. This is why I doubt Apple would be coming out with a 5.5" device. Same reason why their hesitate to increase phone size; they want to sell iPads.
Imagine the lost iPad mini sales if Apple releases a 5.5" model. Not going to happen anytime soon but I do want it because I'd rather carry a large phone than a small tablet. Let customers decide what's too big or too small. Not some guy behind a computer with tight jeans and small hands.

You remind me of my friend Sandy who once said to me, after watching me pour my cup of Starbucks coffee into a thermos, "How are people going to know you're drinking Starbucks?"

Won't the Apple laptop, iPad, iPhone or Volkswagen (with Apple stickers) they pulled up in tip them off?

I agree 100% . . . . especially about the tight jeans.

Even if I had a 5.5" iPhone 6 I may still end up with an iPad Mini. It's still sets itself apart from being a big phone, the 5.5" iPhone isn't a small iPad, they are two distinct devices.

I don't get why other folks keep saying "If I want a bigger screen I'll just get an iPad Mini" like the Mini is a big phone or a big phone a small iPad.

Let me guess, the guy in the video owns an iPhone5/5s.
Ask him to use the 5.5" for a month and go back to the 4".
He still may prefer a smaller phone, but his thoughts on it being too big that you need a stylus, and that its insane to use such a big phone will change for sure.

And I don't get all the complains on how its hard to carry a 5.5" with you.
There's people who have their iPads with them all the time. Then, what's so hard with carrying a 5.5? And it easily sticks in the back pocket of any tight jeans. Heck, I put my iPhone5 in my back pocket now anyways.

Apple will have no problem eating into iPad Mini sales because of several reasons:
  • People replace/upgrade iPhones more often
  • Margin profit is higher on an iPhone with contract
  • People replace their iPads less, thus less likely return money

Only Apple knows if these rumors (design, size, etc.) are true! Nonetheless, I cannot wait till September!

I can. Because then summer will be over and winter is coming (eek!). Although, on the plus side again, it will be football season :D

Wow I'm surprised how horrendous the ip6 looks next to the Note 3. I kind of expected it to not look as nice because of the top/bottom bezels but I'm in shock at just how bad it looks.

I'm also surprised Apple would have let it have a smaller screen than the Note 3 but have a larger footprint, they must know the media is going to hone in on that. I really had my heart set on a 5.5" ip6, but for the first time in the history of iphones find the hardware is a bit ugly and cumbersome. Additionally we don't know what the Note 4 will look like, we are still comparing Apple's next release with Samsungs release of last year.

I don't know why he went on and on about a supposed $100 price difference. The price difference wouldn't matter at all. Didn't we learn that with the 5C. People will buy what they like.

And what was that about stating Apple should release them at the same price? And Sony should release their 85" TV at the same price as their 42" TV for people that would prefer the larger model.

This may be a dumb question, but could one of the differentiators about the 5.5", other than size, be that it can run iPad apps?

I had been thinking about this ever since the rumors of the 5"+ iPhone came around. I think it would be fantastic.

I don't think a lot of these iPhone apps we have now would really take advantage of the larger 5.5" screen and so it would be nice to see some iPad-like design in the apps that kick on if it detects the right display.

But as for just running regular iPad apps, it's probably not likely, at least not without the developers doing the Resizeable iPad option in their apps, since the 5.5" phone isn't a 4:3 aspect ratio.

So they wanted an Apple branded dumb phone?

YES!

Nowadays that's just shocking. Apple ushered in a new era in smartphone technology and user experience and a bunch of folk thought the 3.5" iPhone was . . . . . . too big!

Those same folks learned to live with it, then clamored about how a 4" iPhone would be too big and would never fit in their pockets.

Now, they are on this thread, still repeating their broken 33s.

Why is this YouTuber surprised by the phablet? I've said in the past on here that Apple should make a close to 5" iPhone AND a phablet. These moves make all the sense in the world to me.

I'd really like to know the exact dimensions of the 4.7" dummy models. Surprised nobody who has the dummy phone in their hands hasn't posted it.

You guys do realize that every iPhone has leaked every year right ?

Believe it people . This news repeats itself every . Year .

I seem to recall a leak that didn't come true a couple years back. Cost some Chinese case manufacturers a fair deal in useless - was it wedge-shaped? - cases.

100% agree. It's not a battle worth fighting on this forum. I see it said all the time. A phablet iPhone and iPad Mini are two very different devices. Not saying the 5.5" iPhone wouldn't eat into some Mini sales but again, two very different experiences.

Also Apple has said many times in the past that they don't care about cannibalizing their own sales. As long as you buy an Apple product, they win.

I wish they came out with a 5" model instead of the monstrous 5.5" that not many will buy. A 5" is big, but not difficult enough to handle or be annoying to use.

I think 4.7" would really be the sweet spot. I've got an HTC one (with a 4.7" screen), and its screen is the limit of what you can comfortably use with one hand.

5.5" would be too large.

This reminds me of all of the users that wanted an iPhone mini the size of a Nano. Sort of a feature phone iPhone that costs less, did less, but was extremely useful as a phone.

I don't know about that, but I know that for people like me anything that prohibits one hand operation during our busy days is useless.

Enjoyed the video, very well presented by that young man. I think he is right, I have having owned all the iphones but have been enjoying my Galaxy Note 3 for a year now. I use it primarily for movie, web surfing and emailing and very rarely as a phone.

If you use your iphone as a phone a lot no way are you going to be buying the 5.5" model, it would just be too clumsy to use.

The Galaxy's 5.7" screen I have really got used to but seeing Apples 5.5" model with those big ugly bezel bars just doesn't look good. I love the thinness of the new phone compared to the 5 but a redesign is needed and will eventually come I'm sure to eradicate or at the very least slim down the fat bezels.

Again agree with the smart looking presenter the 4.7" will sell like hot cakes, but I'm loving the design and functionality of my GN3 too much to change!

I doubt samsung is as petty and conceited as apple in this respect.

Right, because A) a company protecting it's IP is petty and conceited and 2) Samsung rarely sues to protect its IP.

But you don't need to "doubt." Most court documents are public domain and viewable online. I bet if you did a search you'd find more than a few with Samsung as the plantiff.
