You are correct. :p I don't know why, but the curved display (which I didn't think I'd care at all about) really hides the bezels. Then there's the notch on the iPX; I wanna like the notch, but I can't figure out how.

FWIW, I'm still on an iPhone SE, so neither companies were likely to gain a sale from me.

I’m normally the agreeing clap-like-a-seal toilet brush every time you open your gloriously handsome mouth and post, and whilst I partially agree, I’m on an iPhone X and I think it’s utterly gorgeous — notch and all.

It’s like a distinguishing pimple on that perfect woman. Boy, I really do love this phone.

The S9 looks seriously ugly in my opinion, as did the S8. I’m sure many will disagree but for me it fundamentally fails aesthetically.

Honestly I don’t know why people are so hyped about it.

The hype isn't about the look for either phone (think notch). It comes down to user interface. After 10 years with iOS, I moved to Samsung Android and LOVE it. So much more functional and useful. So I would buy an "ugly" Samsung phone over a "gorgeous" but less functional iPhone any day.

Great review. I'd still choose the S9 for sure, much more advanced OS and features, prettier phone and of course no Notch.

Inferior ecosystem and Apps. Can you even name 3 Android Apps that can actually utilize an 8 core processor? What good is all that power to run Fisher Price Apps?

I’ll take the iPhone X.

Already got 4 of them for the family. Getting an S9+ soon from work so I’ll get to try it out.

Both phones are great but I just want the following changes:

iPhone - Remove the notch
Galaxy S9 - Remove Bixby/button and Samsung skin + provide Android updates more frequently

I wish iOS had a more customizable home screen. I don't need to see 28 static icons. I would much rather have the bottom launcher with five icons and the rest of the screen available for active display showing weather, email headers, message topics, twitter feed, Facebook updates, or some other constantly changing information that I would like to keep up with and see at a glance.

Say what you will about Microsoft, but Live Tiles were the bee's knees. I don't understand why Apple can't do something similar to what MS accomplished over five years ago?

I'm not hugely fond of the edge display on the Samsungs but nowadays it's not that bad. That said, to me the iPhone X due to its slightly different size feels better to hold somehow. Maybe because it's thinner or slightly wider, I don't know. It's just a really good size phone even if it has a lot of other things I don't care about.

I can ask you the same question about your iPhone and your computer. Can you 3 an apps that you daily use that need more than 2 cores?

Let's just get this out there... Despite Samsung's protestations, the S9 has a notch too. It's just the entire width of the screen.
Agreed. Despite Apple's protestations, the iPhone X has a bezel too. It's just not the entire width of the screen. :)

For some of us, it’s not a matter that we prefer the Apple ecosystem, it’s a question of how entrenched we are in it and how difficult it is to extricate ourselves from it.
It's not that difficult.

I've said the same thing about the iPhone X.

I like the iPhone X designoverall (despite the notch), but I'm not sure how you can call it bezel-less. There is a pretty thick bezel surrounding the screen. It's even more apparent next to the S9.
Apple clearly went for the thinnest OVERALL bezel. Care to show me a phone with thinner bezel?

I still really dig the edge display -- the way that the display seems just roll off the edge of the phone. Knockout design, IMO.

After looking at the S8 last year, and now the S9, it really does make you go "Holy side bezels!" with after phone you pick up thereafter.
It may look good but functionally it's a failure. I'm bummed that currently Samsung only sells phones with the Edge display.

LOL! I love this statement!

The apps and integration with other Apple hardware keep me coming back to the iPhone. iMessage, Notes, Reminders and even iCloud photos are all working beautifully on all my devices.

I remain jealous, though, of how customizable the home screen is on Android. If we could get rid of the notification center and make widgets that merge with the home screen, I'd be in heaven.

IMO some really random points in this video..

“I wish the iPhone had a face scanner on the back also, which you can use interchangeably.”

LOL

do you also wish you had FaceID on the back? Maybe a proximity sensor on the back for those times youre looking at your phone from the back and dont wanna hurt your eyes?

“They shouldnt hold back on some of the features people might use.”

Ah damn, I want my iPhone to make me pancakes when I want, have 12 day battery, a holographic display and to support floppy disks.

I need another minute of content and Apple didnt meet my list of expectations, lets bash it for holding back features haha

I've heard it was worse during the S6 and S7 days. The "edge" doesn't extend as far over the side of the phone as it used to, so the accidental touches occur not AS often at least.

However I haven't ever used any of their devices as daily drivers so I don't know how well they fare in day to day use. It definitely is style over substance... but that doesn't mean they don't look great. ;) :p

AND they have a row of status icons under the screen-wide notch. That's such a waste of display space!

Nothing groundbreaking here. With the Samsung you get a whole lot of phone for the price. I think as mentioned, it’s all about ecosystem and it’s difficult to compare the two. What has always been tough for me with Samsung is the fact that they make refrigerators, washing machines, ultrasounds, and heck they even make toilet seats. I dunno it’s probably just a personal issue but I always find more interest in companies that specialize as opposed to companies that generalize.

That's interesting to hear. I don't own a GS8 so I cannot compare. FWIW I haven't had any issues with accidental touches.

My dislike of the Edge display is web page viewing. From time to time it's less than ideal when trying to click something near the edge because it wraps down slightly. Given I haven't found any practical, functional use of the Edge display it literally is form over function.

I bought my GS6 Edge because I liked the look. I bought my GS7 Edge because of the larger battery. Had the GS7 had similar battery capacity as the GS7 Edge I would have gone with it. I love the look of the Edge display but the practical side of me prefers not having the Edge.

oh hey, don't mind me, but in 6 month new iPhone is coming out. So why bother comparing already old technology. Boring as T

If you keep with that thought process, you will need to look to another manufacturer, once Apple releases their car or t.v.
