Hmm.

Yes...but hair thin, 3.5" touch screen, 72 hour battery, bluetooth, cell phone, and integrated FM transmitter....hey, it could happen :p ;)

EDIT: And a 3 megapixel camera, camcorder, and comes in the same colors of the Nano.

Well, they'd have to show up Nokia, because they just announced the N95 with a 5 MP camera. The MacPhone'd have to at least be 7 MP. :)

Hehe. You crack me up "reputable scientists" indeed.

You know, you might try having an open mind instead of insulting people around you. If you really want to learn something in an easily accessible way, you might start by listening to the NPR's Science Friday episode on 'Looking for Bigfoot'. If you can make it through that without being too judgmental, you might even try the book Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science, by the reputable scientist who was interviewed in that segment of Science Friday.

Sheesh.

Back on topic...

I don't know what to think about this. It looks plausible, but whether it's a third party item or not is up for grabs. I've been in Apple authorized resellers that do a lot to have the look and feel of an Apple store, except that they use third party chargers on their computers, etc., all the time throughout the store. So, that the dock cable appears to be a third party item doesn't necessarily sell me one way or the other.

This is not an Apple Store, as some others have pointed out. It's a "MacStore", run by Apple IMC ME, an independent company contracted by Apple to market and sell Apple products in the Middle East.

We'll try to dispatch someone to have a look ;)

This stand is simply too overdesigned for apple. Black base, cheap neon pink (which is unevenly lit), white top. The so called dock connector look like a very cheap iPod accessory connector.

Apple's quality design nowhere to bee seen on this. This is probably just a custom made stand for this particular store.

guys, i have helped put this on display... one of the guys who worked there is a good friend of mine, and showed it to me, and told me where do u think is a good place to place this in the store... its nothing but a stand with the whole pole lighting up in pink.. it is a stand that has nothing to do with Apple, but though it would be cool to atach an iPod on the top and have it on display... i am shocked it appeard on MacRumors before EmiratesMac... thats not fair...

now thats good detective work!

Anyone else think macrumors should start solving murders too? :)

FWIW, there are reputable scientists out there who will tell you that that blurry bigfoot video couldn't have been easily faked. There is extensive evidence that sasquatch is real, and the blurry video is one of the more compelling pieces, when you take the time to really analyze it.

I was making a joke with regard to the quality of the images, not questioning whether Bigfoot exists or not.

The Dock connector is made by Gear4 www.gear4.com and is thier PG24 Worldtour power charger, its just a power charger.

http://www.gear4store.com/product_listing.php?pcat=11

I am looking under power chargers in the store and I see no pink stands... Though I have to say the pink "theme" is rather suspicious. But then we come to the question, A. Why not have more? and B. Why isn't there an iPod on it?

Edit: Google Search came up with the same thing. http://www.amazon.co.uk/PodGear-FirePower-World-Tour-Charger/dp/B0009P5Z74

Arn, I think this can come off page 2 now, or at least should have a disclaimer attached to the thread, or we'll all look stupid. How they must be giggling in Cupertino...

Macrumors is similar to a beauty salon except
instead of gossip about other people is about apple gadgets.

This clearly shows how macrumors can turn something so minuscule into a apple rumor IN gigantic proportions.

So that's what it is like in a beauty salon, eh? :D Never knew.

We're just having fun here. Most people here take everything with a grain of salt but just play along. It is part of the fun.
If you don't want to take part that's fine just don't try to reason with us ;)

Why did you bother registering at Macrumors then?

Well, the stand is definitely for something, but with that not being an Apple owned store, and with both CES and MacWorld happening this week, it could be for a product from any number of manufacturers, even just for some kind of new noise-cancelling iPod headphones.

Look at where the display is. Between third party speakers and software. If an iPhone is coming, it's going to be centre stage, not hidden away at the back of the shop.

The iPhone hadsn't officially been released yet, so perhaps when it is released, then maybe the stand will be centre stage.

EDIT: Hey! I took this to Page 6!
