I've seen clearer Big Foot videos.

FWIW, there are reputable scientists out there who will tell you that that blurry bigfoot video couldn't have been easily faked. There is extensive evidence that sasquatch is real, and the blurry video is one of the more compelling pieces, when you take the time to really analyze it.

If you consult the drawings in post #1, there was a big iChat icon on the front of the stand, supposedly to show it was for some form of new Apple device. There is no logo at all on that stand and now the consensus is it's unlikely to be for an Apple product at all. The original cynics in the thread have therefore been proved right as far as I can see.

The thread should have been titled "Pink illuminated stand spotted at Apple reseller - Next to iPod accessories ", but that doesn't quite have the same ring to it for building hype.

I guess you didn't read this post...

The store is in Dubai
There is no logo on the front. I've just seriously confused myself with something else that I'm cracking at the moment. iChats blocked over here so I'm trying to fix it. Sorry for any misunderstanding. You will have the pic tomorrow.

As to it being pink, maybe the color can be changed to one of several colors. Perhaps...

pink, green, blue... I wonder how they would handle silver and black?

Just a thought.

ya, it does seem possibly 3rd-party-ish.

Also, I'm still not clear on how official an Apple store this is?

On Page 2 now though, because it is all very interesting. :)

Umm. Its currently under Buying Tips, which is kind of weird. Maybe its suggesting what we could go and buy in Dubai...

Isnt it interesting that whenever someone posts a video of something like this its like the sketchiest video you've ever seen? Its like a celebrity sex tape or something off of Jerry Springer... the way that cam is moving about you'd think there was an earthquake or something!

:D

for what its worth, someone submitted...

We have stands in the back like the ones seen in the video from the member in the UAE. Members are correct in their thinking that there are other stands in other colors besides pink. There are.

They can not be placed on the floor until after the Steve Jobs keynote on Tuesday.

They are for an Apple product which has arrived, but is on a covered pallet. We know that they are for an iPod or iPod related device (given the dock connector), but do not know what exactly that device may be.

of course, could be fake... we'll know on tuesday.

Everyone is jumping on the "phone" train these days. Why couldnt it be something like an all new, full screen iPod?

Of course on the other hand, a new iPod doesnt really justify those big "30 year" banners....

I call a large load of bulls*** on this. I don't think it's even made by Apple. The plastic of the connector looks much too shoddy and the stand is very cheap looking.

Here is the next iPod. They're going for the novelty value...

That's the same stand they used to display iPod Mini's a year or so ago...old news, move on.

I'm glad someone else thought this, because I wasn't sure I hadn't imagined see them a couple of years ago as front window display in a US Apple Store.

Just an old display from the states now being used in the UAE. The black base and chord would have melded into a black background material and notice the top of the display has definitely seen better days...it's not a new display being brought out early...it's an old display that should be put out to pasture.

Sorry, but the staff got really suspicious even with me walking about with a cameraphone in my pocket filming! :D

Ill second that... If I remember correctly in Dubai (yes Dubai not Dhabi) I would try and take a picture of just something and officials would immediately stop me. You had to take a picture in private or when no one was looking. But in a nice hotel or something.. FORGET IT.

So I can just imagine the craziness at the Apple Store (how ever unofficial, or official it is.)

P.S it might have just been because I was a foreigner I really don't know, or it could have just been for security reasons.. I know there are some buildings in the US that you are questioned if you bring cameras to. just putting my input in.

Found this with a Google search:

Well with that evidence...I'm forced to alter my opinion that the UAE device is the mini stand, as obviously the Apple designed stand was much more elegant that the item in question even back in the day.

Examining the top of the UAE device, it appears that holes have been punched out of the top to provide for the cords. Any chance this is one of those "mood lights" that normally cycle through colors but this one has been altered to stay pink?

Even it it was a mood light it would be much smaller and there would be more around the store. Also since most Apple Stores remain uniformed mood lights would be a little out of place.

That picture actually just makes me think that the post is actually very real because its clear apple as designed something like this before.. The only downfall is this one seems to be much bigger...

Some of the "mood lights" (dunno, maybe that is not the right term for them) I have seen are actually around that wide, but taller.

As for the uniformity, that's why I doubt this is an Apple display...it just doesn't look up to standards. Of course if the OP has regularly been to this store in the UAE, maybe he can compare this display to the rest of the store as it is currently and as it has been in the past. If this store has been consistent over time, then that would support the "Apple product display thesis" and if not, of course that hypothesis would suffer. Also, could the OP compare this stores displays with other Apple stores using goggle images? Does this store conform (in general, and in the specific case of this display) to their standards?
