My hunch is that there is an under appreciation of the thirst for the USB-C interface. Personally I’m fatigued by dealing with this mix of lightning and USB-C devices (both at home and traveling). I just want one system and I will gladly celebrate the day I can sunset all my lightning cables.

I have been pleased with my 14 Pro Max. Yes the battery do not last the whole day if I’m using it heavily, but that is also why I carry a portable charger with me.
Me too! Battery problem, WHAT battery problem? 🤣🤣

Im the opposite unless I upgrade everyone’s phone and iPads in the house at the same time, the one with the new iPhone would be the odd man out. MacBook has MagSafe, iPad Air 3’s, iPhone 11 and 13’s etc. Right it’s my iPad Pro that’s the odd ball of the household lol

I'm glad no one's figured out how to make Dynamic Island useful. I'm not missing out on anything sticking w my 13 mini. Hopefully it'll soon disappear altogether.
I love it: the app for my cart shows me the charge state while I wander off to do some shopping. Single glance at the screen and I know the status, wonderfully simple.

I’m much the same. My partner has a 12, regularly runs it to the point it switches off. Her battery health is 87%, only about 18 months old. However, my 12 Pro had terrible battery life-I sold that after 2 years and its battery health was at 81%. I’m a light/casual user.

I have a 14PM, it was replaced under AC+ between Christmas Day/New Year and my battery is still at 100%. I could almost get two days out of it, but it doesn’t always quite make it to bedtime the second day. I use a slow wireless charger every night, and my percentage is usually between 40-45% when I do this. Even on iOS 17 Beta it’s hitting the same levels.

To those worrying about battery performance, our household experiences with a 12/12 Pro battery have not been great. My experience with my 14PMax has been brilliant. I’m not one to get seriously hooked on my gadgets, but do love this phone. It is weighty, but not that much-I don’t really notice it now.

I wouldn’t splash out for one now, but if any are in the market post-15 release, it’s a hell of a phone.
Just check my 12 Pro - bought very shortly after release. Now 84%.

Similarly - I am a light user. The worst things are apps which gallop through battery. A Roku app is terrible. If I don't swipe it off screen, my battery drops alarmingly. Despite 4% overall usage reported, when running it is quite the worst of all apps.

Health takes quite a lot - 28%.

Well I agree that the Dynamic Island is underutilized.
But my experience with battery life has been great even with AOD. Had it since day one. Never ran out of battery even on some days with heavy usage. Though I went fully charged into those days. Charging is something I rarely need to keep my mind on. Battery capacity is still at 100%. Mixed wired and wireless charging throughout the year.
I also didn't use a case. It took some serious falls. There are some scratches on the display and some dents on the frame.
Really happy with it.

My thoughts after having my 14 Pro Max since launch, it is a boring phone that integrates well with the rest of my Apple stuff. But there’s no fun in using it like different foldables or other new form factors are, it is the reliable work horse that does the few things it is good at well but isn’t good at most of the things I want to use my mobile technology for in a day. I try to avoid using it as much as possible since web browsing/gaming/media consumption on such a small screen isn’t a nice experience, so it mostly just sits around waiting for a phone call or message that it can send to the device I am actually using.

Not really looking forward to the 15 series since it will probably be the same but more expensive.

Between 11PM/12PM/13PM/14PM....the 14PM has given me the worst battery life of all. I'm on AUP so I upgrade every year on release day. The 14PM today is at 90% battery life. The worst for me 1 year later on a PM iPhone. I've had to charge this PM more than any other PM size iPhone. I'm hoping the 15PM fixes that for me.

Battery Life 14 Pro Max.

I have upgraded every year, on launch day, for the last 4 years and always had 100% battery health when I sold the previous year's phone. In the last few weeks, the 14 Pro Max Battery Health has dropped from 100% to 98%. I disabled Always on Home Screen from the beginning (didn't need it), not a heavy user and I exclusively use Apple wireless charger, charging settings optimised, and sometimes (not often) the charge level drops below 20% by end of day (more so recently). My feeling is the recent updates have messed with the battery life and likely reporting of battery health - in the last 2-3 months genuinely feel that the battery charge drops more rapidly during the day than it did before and quite randomly.

Anyone else relate to this?

Dynamic island. It’s more my a penal colony for my pixles.
It’s the worst things since removing the headphone jack. I won’t be upgrading to the 15. My 14PM makes me want to buy a folding Samsung. Tired of the heavy brick.
Well, if you don't get how awesome the dynamic island is — samsung is probably the way for you, my friend... :)

I'm perfectly happy with my 14PM. I was still quite happy with my XR and had planned to wait for the 15PM, primarily for the rumored periscope lens, but T-Mobile offered an $800 trade-in on my XR. Since they didn't offer a trade-in on any model older than the XR, I figured I wouldn't get anything from them if I waited for the 15PM.

Aside from making phone calls, the camera is the most important feature for me. The 14PM's camera is a big improvement over the XR's, especially in low light. I find myself using the 1x and 0.5x lenses most often, the 2x occasionally, and the 3x rarely, so I wonder how often I'd use the periscope lens, anyway.

Battery health is still 100%. At night, I use the phone as my bedside clock, so I plug it into a charger every night. I only come close to fully draining the battery when I'm on a vacation trip and am shooting photos and video all day.

I don't notice the Dynamic Island any more than I did the notch on my XR, so I'm neutral about it.

The size and weight don't bother me. I wouldn't want to go back to a smaller phone, because the third-most-important thing to me is browsing the web or reading news stories when I'm out and about and am waiting for an appointment or for another person to show up. When I'm at home, though, I use my MBP or my iPad Pro for most things. My wife, on the other hand, uses her 13PM for most things.

Does this review mention living with PWM for an entire year? Sounds like torture.

PWM is display flickering at a fast rate which gives many people headaches and eye-strain.
Isn’t it slow rate that causes the headaches?

I don't know... I've been enjoying the use of the Dynamic Island with apps like Uber, Flighty, Music, etc. I also routinely long press it when multi-tasking and listening to podcasts for access to quick controls. So far, my battery health remains at 100% so I can't complain. For me, this is the best iPhone yet and I've been using them since the 4.
