It'll be an ill-fated extra like photos. At least they're not doing a seperate line for more $$$ like the photo was. They've learned their lesson.

The photo features were neither ill-fated, nor did they cost extra $$$. The color screen and extra capacity did, and those are in demand whether you use photos or not. And even so, the iPod Photo 60 was the cheapest iPod ever in terms of space per dollar. As for "ill fated"--of course higher models sell fewer than lower models, that's natural, not a problem. And the photo stuff is appreciated for what it is: a nice extra that some people will use--and one that connects to music--but not something that intrudes on the main function: music.

Boo. It's been debated a million times here, but I honestly don't see the need for video in an iPod beyond novelty. Sure, it's cute, it's a neat trick, but it has no real use for the majority of consumers. I hope to be wowed by something much better, but I fear this is all it will be - a gimmick (one that will sell very well anyway, I'm sure).

Oh well! I'm guessing my dream for the iPod will come another day, not tomorrow... :(

Hmm, make up your minds already. Finally now that Thinksecret is saying that there probably will be an iPod video, I wonder if new iPods will be thinner and have a larger screen?
Updated Macs do seem unlikely and probably will only have small quiet updates during the next weeks. Who knows... maybe there won't be updated PowerBooks again until January.

I was really hoping for some new Mac products, but new iPods are good too.

After all the defending I did of TS, now they come right back and change their stance! I honestly have lost some faith in them. While it's good they got the right info, they really have been dragging us around.

Humph, I think many of us are still wondering, "When do we get some new mac products!?".

There will be no live webcast. They will hopefully have a delayed stream, later in the day.

If it is a video iPod, I will probably order it immediately. I'd prefer a Powerbook, but I'll take an iPod for now.

Agreed. But as long as Apple markets it as a MUSIC player first and foremost, then video can be a cool novelty that you can "take or leave" and no harm done.

In which case... all the hype and "one more thing" might be something else.

Re live coverage... I'd settle for text. MacOSRumors.com claims to have a new system ready to provide live text coverage, but their services have been as unreliable as their rumors for a long time (they keep posting "articles" that are bad links going nowehere... and just leaving them there for days). I wouldn't count on them. Any other text sources?

Man, though I don't like to brag, I WAS RIGHT! IN YOUR FACES! IN ALL OF YOUR LITTLE TINY FACES THAT DISAGREED! lol.

Just banter. Anyway, I think ThinkSecret may be wrong again, saying that Mac Updates will not happen until next week.

They will have them tomorrow, with the iPod.

enough is enough

Alright, screw video iPods...Who in the right mind wants to watch a video on a 2" screen? Not me! I'd much rather watch the same video on a newly updated > 1.67ghz powerbook with a 15" widescreen!

Tomorrow is my birthday, and I would REALLY appreciate a powerbook for it! I've been waiting forever. And I agree with whoever it was that said it above, they constantly talk about updates but it never happens. It's time it happened. You'd think a company like apple could update one of their biggest products a little more frequently than Microsoft updates their OS :p

K, now I'm just exagerating, I'm angry, I want a powerbook, the end.

I am just waiting for new ibooks to come out, so that I can buy the current model on sale, and or a better Refurbished item then is currently available.

I love being on the "healing edge" :)

The only way I will buy a video iPod is if it is 80 Gig or more and WIFI capable, otherwise we will be watching videos on a 2 inch screen or constantly having to hook wires to a TV. So I for one vote for a new Airport express with video capabilites to stream music & video from comp. or WIFI enabled iPod. But this probally won't happen. :(

Wow, back and forth, back and forth, what will tomorrow bring?!

We'll all know soon. I think regardless of what it is, there will be some great new offerings out there. And also, regardless of what's announced, there will be complainers. :p

Don't count on an iBook update.. I don't think they're going to have another one until much later, probably 2006.

This is pretty good. I am excited for it mainly because i am going to update my current iPod because it is getting filled! But I think it will be something like the games, it's cool that it is there however, unless there is something other than music videos, I probably won't use it that much. Now if tv shows could be put on it, that would be excellent, and I would use that. Family Guy while in class? I love it.

Just because Think Secret have again back pedaled doesn't necessarily mean it's true. Gosh, you lot are talking like Apple have already made a formal announcement on this. Think Secret seem to be hedging their bets both ways so don't get too excited just yet folks.

However, I'd love to see a video iPod it's what I been holding out for since I bought my third generation iPod.

Of course this is gonna happen. Apple hasn't put a free music video online for... 2 months. And I'm actually a little pissed about it, I bought a lot of songs after hearing their videos.

EDIT: Newton Newton Newton... it wasn't time back in 95 or whatever, but it is now...

I know for a FACT that a video ipod will be introduced. cough, big companies most likely already added this item to their system.

I agree with you. Apple probably has an ipod very similar in styling to the Nano only with a slightly larger display and 80GB HD. It is primarily a high storage music player but it will support video for those small music video and other shorts.

The one more thing is probably something different. Maybe introduction of iTunes Movie store, BBC video shows, some viacom network tv shows, etc. Which can be purchased, downloaded over highspeed connection and burnt to a limited number of DVD's.

Hopefully Apple will also bump PM & PB with new features that will better support HD Video, and video production software. :)
