agree - video does little to prove beyond photo.

also - apple has too strongly hinted at design changes in the new mac mini.

however, we cannot prove that this is not an early prototype of the newer mac mini mobo design...

How about this...

Could this be similar to what the next generation Mac Mini might look like?

Sorry for my awful skills... I have never really done much with photo editing. In this pic, HDMI is added, the Mini DVI port is removed, a USB port is removed, and the old white plastic is gone.

your skill is okay

but I think the new mini will looks totally different..

we need to think out of the box..

not just follow the old design..

I bet it's something we will love ..

I think it will be thinner and slicker...that's thinking outside of the box, literally. I also think it will be Black.

Machining a new back costs roughly the same as printing a glossy cardboard box.
In other words, it doesn't matter if it was only the cardboard box that was filmed.

Where? Give me a firm name that can do that cheaply... Look at the machining in the vents and in the USB ports. Pretty high quality.

I assume its a fake or rejected model, but that is not easy to make-up.

yeah,

under current eco situation
apple has to show some real design work..
otherwise, people can choose to not to buy .

so, the macbook unibody inside, as the base..

then get rid of the battery, and put hd and superdrive together nicely

then we will have a mini.

on the other hand

apple can think like this way :
upgrade the mini with min R&D,
save money

and people who like this line will buy it ,still.

Keep in mind Apple has neglected the mini for a long time. Apple doesn't really want it to sell well. Last time the mini was updated, it was given the guts of the previous generation MacBook and it has remained that way for 18 months. If it's updated soon, it might only be because the old parts are no longer available.

I think a new mini with current MacBook guts would be awesome, even without a new enclosure.

These should be completely different from the old design:

I put an IR sensor on the Mac Mini to keep it up to speed with the other Mac's.

I think that is very nice looking. I do think that would be more on par with what they would go for now than what this thread shows. I still insist, as I did on page 7, it will more likely than not be similar in looks to the airport extreme ... but, as you showed, silver. I don't think it'll be black. If there is black on it, it will be the Apple logo itself.

The little black square on the CD/DVD slot to the right of the slot, is the IR port of the current mini .. your extra sensor added would be unneeded. .. unless they move it, but the other port would be gone ;)

I just changed it on the post above... I think Apple would decide to move it so it would look more like the Apple TV.

Believe

I believe you monthy. We have seen leaks before and this is more proof than many had that turned out to be true.

I'm a little dubious about that power button.... It looks like it protrudes, curved outward. Most of Apple's power buttons are flat/flush (Mac Pro, MacBook) or even slightly curved inward (iMac).

Actually, it may very well be a benefit on the Mac mini.

I know from experience being around a Mini that the power button is notoriously difficult to spot and takes a bit of getting used to to actually be able to see AND press that particular button.

If that were to be magically fixed on the new Mac Mini, INSTABUY!!

Wow. Definitely fake. Especially since he didn't pick it up except to show the other sides. I'm pretty sure the new Mac mini is going to have a new design and will definitely not look just like the old one, if they add a USB port and Mini-DVI, they're likely to change the whole casing. I'm thinking an AppleTV/Time Capsule combo.

All those fake screamers are so annyoing. IT IS NOT A FAKE but nobody is able to say if it's the final version! The user proved he didn't lie. Stop shouting fake annoying freaks!

Who said I was shouting? I just stated it's a fake. And prototype, do you really thing Apple would just be handing those out, even to the workers? And I still wanna see it turn on.

I think you need to calm down and add some substance.

By the way, it's fake.

It's fake because the video is just too damn short for someone that has the next gen Mac mini. I promise the entire Macrumors community, that if I ever have the next generation Mac product before it's released I WILL provide sharp smooth video and photos, voice commentary, DVD extras, and a full technical read out with serials, boot times, video of a booting working, machine.

As well as a take apart of the product and an official memo from Steve Jobs himself explaining why I have the device before launch.

There will be NO question about whether or not I get my hands on the Powerbook G5 or Mac tablet.

Yea, there is absolutely no reason for not showing the entire body. Imagine you're owning the next gen "mac whatever", wouldn't you make a video that's longer than 1min and be showing more than the back?

And finally, why the hell is he rotating it the way he did? Cmon, you cannot even rotate a macbook that way. And not because of it's weight, but because of those little rubber pads which should avoid the macbook from slipping away!

To me, this is why it cannot be true. There is no reason why they should leave them out, they are simply necessary!

i just checked your blog and i hardly see anything worth reading. I dont want to offend you, but you provide nothing that couldnt be foind elsewhere but written in a more professional manner. And why that awfull mockup?

Why am i saying that?

Maybe because i think you really need a feedback on your page.

Exactly. I'd show the whole thing and with it powered on.
OH, and it probably does have those rubber things, if you didn't notice he picked it up a little, he wasn't sliding it.
