You'd be surprised how wrong you are. No new converts will be camping out, but the people who already use Macs that want a Mac Mini have been patient for a year longer than they should have had to be.

I'll certainly be snapping up a new one as soon as they are released.

The advantages of a mini-tower are so many....

I see your point and glad you explained your "frisbee it into the dumpster" comment.

USB2 will still be very relevant even after USB 3 makes it's debut. Any of the PowerMacs and Mac Pros have an advantage when it comes to having card slots.

Which is why in addition to the mini (and any refreshes), I'd like to see a Mac Pro mini. A small tower that would allow some upgrades of the hardware without too much trouble.

Gee, you mean a mini-tower that is faster and cheaper also has built-in protection against instant obsolesence?

Wow.

</sarcasm>

You know, it's very possible that Apple has given up on the idea of the Mini being a crossover machine. Maybe they have a new use for the Mini so it doesn't have to be so gimped compared to the other machines in their lineup. Either way, if this Mini is the real thing, I'll be satisfied as long as the video card is up to snuff.

What I really want to know is why do they have to change the casing? The one it has now works fine and looks great. If it aint broke....

The problem with the casing is the upgrade. It is pain in the a&& to put in RAM or upgrade HD.

I don't know if this means anything but it looks like the back has been pried open. (This side of back is curvy, and the other side isn't).

HA! Busted! It's even more obvious in the video.

This one's dead and buried, folks. Move on. :D

That looks fake. You can see the text Photoshopped in.

Those are JPG artifacts, so no, you can't see it Photoshopped in.

The iHome photos looks fake because the packaging design is wretched (not to mention completely unlike anything Apple has ever done), and the other photos show a "product" that looks like a frickin' cardboard box.

I suggest we make a thread on who thinks this is a fake, and record all the screen names of all those who don't believe in it. When the day comes for the introduction of the new mini, then we will know who are the ones being owned big time.

I don't know what to believe though. But if I have to choose, I think this is the right deal.

Definitely.

Put me in the "Its a fake" list please :D

.... and I cannot flag my aye or nay in the other thread. Is it locked?

Moderators locked it with the note to keep it here.

That being said, I do not get excited over these things. You put a mix of 'global attention' and 'showing off my model making skills' and you end up with this.

When I see it in the apple store, then I'll be sure. Otherwise, it is just fun speculation between like-minded individuals.

But why the hell this miniDVI port? I don't know of any monitor with a miniDVI port so you need an adapter anyway. And then you can use a miniDisplay to DVI Adapter.
I would have preferred DVI + HDMI. Other than on the MacBook there is enough space on the back of the Mini. If you use the MacMini in a hometheatre setup, a hdmi port would have been much more usefull

MiniDVI-to-HDMI exists. :)

People have been saying "if you want to do real work.....blah blah blah" crap for ages, and they forget people have been doing really productive work on the Mac (video, audio, Photoshop, Illustrator) since the G3 days.

To nitpick, it was long before that. The 68020 days actually.

Really? because I've seen that before with a PS cut and paste. Sorry, didn't realize you were a Photoshop Expert (tm) :D

That's Steve J.

"the original poster..."

Steve J. has nothing better to do now that he's home recovering, I've seen that hand before...brillant viral marketing technique, Steve.
