Heh, I'd like to think Apple will allow certain (game) developers to disable it.
I love this, 4.2 really made the iPad a better device and this just takes it a couple of steps further.

I love this, 4.2 really made the iPad a better device and this just takes it a couple of steps further.
Could you elaborate, I have Xcode I just haven't used it, such as when do I choose the option, restore. Or I just have to have iPad connected. And where is the option.

It could, although this new gesture feature heavily outweighs any app's need to use 4-5 finger gestures. It's just such a great feature and works for 99% of the apps out there today.
Also, the only reason this is "optional" right now is for developer testing. I don't expect that switch to remain.

echoing comments from earlier in the thread, im curious as to how this will work with say uzu or drawing apps that recognize multiple touch points. regardless, this is something that i thought would have just come with 4.0 in the first place.

Interested to see what Apple does with the Home button in the third generation iPad. From the looks of the leaked case pictures, the Home button will still be there on the second gen.
I have nothing against the removal of it, but I can definitely see why some users would be unhappy with the decision.

I did this in Xcode 4, beta 5 (yes 5, not 6). Don't know if it works in Xcode 3. Launch Xcode, plug in your iPad and you'll see a window pop up with your device. Big button there that says "Use for Development". That's your man.

I think it'd be way cooler if a gesture could invoke a expose/mission control like interface for multitasking. However this is a very nice addition and certainly needed, not taking advantage of such a large multitouch display seemed like a ton of missed potential.
Not having to use home button is the only reason I jailbreak. This will be great, at least for iPad.

I agree, but I find more and more that I'm swapping between two or maybe three at the most and sometimes often now that multitasking is in. This will be less wear on the home button for me.
